*[URBAN COWBOY REVIEW]*
This one is a little short for my taste but it has a lot of potential. I like the guitars and the bounce in the beat. If it's called Urban Cowboy maybe it needs a little more twang...like the addition of a slide guitar or perhaps a fiddle. Still a cool track though as you have it. Plus, I'd also like to know what a coltsfoot is. Maybe it's an instrument even I could play. :)

cheers for the listen and the review. i usually put shorter versions of my work up on looperman...theres always extended cuts that are anywhere from 4-6 min. i keep those for the die hards who actually want to listen to one of my tracks for that long lol.
i like the idea of a slide guitar! nice...i ll play around with it tonite.
thanks again!

on 5 Centimeters by siensystem
I'm a fan of the violin and I like the way it fit into this track along with the synths. The overall sound came through fine on my speakers except for a bit of low level hum and some sort of electronic popping sounds at the beginning. Maybe you intended that, but if you did I'm not sure I really like that part so much. Otherwise, it's a nice listen; I enjoyed it. -Ken

I think your "ugly child" is really quite cute. This track is a lot of fun and it charms the little kid in me (yeah, I'm never going to grow up). Thanks for making this old guy smile. P.S. I'm enjoying your other tunes too so nice work and keep 'em coming. -Ken

on Alien Radio by DJ_Zy
I really like the spacey, other worldly feel to this one. I think Mary Doria Russell is right in her book "The Sparrow." Our first discovery of life on other planets in this universe is likely to come by way of hearing some of their music drifting electronically across space. Wasn't music one of the first things we broadcast over the radio and into space? Now if E.T's are listening to music like this on on their home worlds then maybe we don't have too much to worry about if we ever meet them. Nice job on this track. -Ken

on Control Is Yours by DJ_Zy
This track does sound like you have taken control and mastered putting together a lot of power and energy into a well crafted piece. I like the breaks and pauses between bursts. It's a little bit short I think and perhaps if it were extended I would add some quieter elements as a counterbalance and relief to all the energy, but what you have here is quite enjoyable. Good job. -Ken

I especially like music that transports me to another world outside the ordinary. This track does that, if only so briefly, and yes, it is a very blissful place. I like this one very much. Nice job. -Ken

on Possession by DJ_Zy
I disagree with your friend. I see a computer as being just as much a musical instrument as a flute, guitar or piano. Instead of making the sounds by blowing, strumming or moving your fingers, you can make sounds by cutting and pasting loops inside a software program ....and you can even change the pitch and tempo of each loop too. So I think it is just as valid a form of music as any other. Who knows.....someday we may be able to create music that others can hear simply by doing nothing more than thinking about the sounds in our minds. Anyway, I like what you have done on this track. It's got power and energy and is well composed. Sounds like music to me...quite good music. -Ken

Another great track and another nudge for me to put Asimov's "Foundation" series on my reading list. I'm not generally a big fan of metal music but when it is kept under control, as in this piece, it can be an irresistible force. Nice work creating something very enjoyable. -Ken

I really try to use metal sounds as a compliment to other sounds versus an end unto its own. I try to use it to convey emotion and urgency with all the other sounds. Thanks again for your support and encouragement. I will keep checking out your site as well to look for inspiration. Take care, Kenikos. Kper

on Encyclopedia Galactica by Kper
Great work on this one. It's a wonderful blend of modern tech conveying a sense of urgency along with classical symphonic expressing a majesty of purpose. I've only read 1 or 2 books by Asimov and those were many years ago but your track gives me a nudge toward delving into his Foundation series. I'm currently captivated by Dan Simmons' Ilium/Olympos novels but I think Asimov may be next on my reading list. Thanks for this amazing composition. -Ken
Kper
Kper replied Unknown
Wow- I appreciate your interpretation of Encyclopedia Galactica. You put it into words better than I did in the description. I checked out Dan Simmons and the books you talk about sound intense and deep. If only there were more hours in the day to read . . . I will definitely check the books out when I have a chance. Thanks for the review and support. Kper

We seem to have a similar interest in turning what we read into music. I'm not familiar with the story that goes with this track but I must say you've done a wonderful job of creating a fascinating picture (inside my mind at least) of a technologically advanced, computer dominated world. I'll definitely be back again to listen to more of your compositions. Great job on this one. -Ken

Thanks for your review, Kenikos. I have worked as a reading specialist with kids who just see books as a collection of words on pages and who do not understand how to emotionally and personally interact with and respond to books. I find that tragic but find hope with people, such as yourself, who have the ability to use a variety of mediums to convey a message based on books. I think that's where music crosses over from entertainment to serving people. I applaud what you do and thank you for your kind words. Kper

The title might be "Loser Geek" but this song's a real winner. Another great job on the vocals along with the added techno twist. I also like the twists the guitar takes. This one is really fine; very enjoyable. -Ken

Hi Lisa. Sounds to me like you remembered well how to use your software. I like the track's heavy beat of building power and the emotion that it evoked in me. The cymbal crash at the end is terrific but it ended rather abruptly....I like to hear the slow fade afterward on things like that....but that's just me. I think your track is really nice and I'm looking forward to hearing more of your creations. -Ken

How cool is this song? Let me count the ways.....no wait....there are too many. I love the spacey sound...and tell your wife she has a terrific voice. You took the lyrics from some magazines? "Please check the light in the refrigerator door. It's the only way I'll find my way home." It's fantastic. I love it. -Ken

Hey, thanks for the kind comments!

I'll let my wife know you like her words. Not from magazines exactly, but from personal zines that my wife writes and publishes. She has a lot of talent for writing.

Oh wow!...I see you DO have a version of this song with the vocal track. Great job! Terrific vocals on that one...I love the sound. Sorry about the oversight....that's what happens to some folks when they start turning into an old man(sheepish grin this time). Cheers. -Ken

Hi Niklos. Very nice debut track....enjoyed the listen. Kept my attention all the way through and I especially like the way the sounds travel back and forth between my speakers. By the way, my name sounds Greek but I'm not really (Scots-Irish, French-German and a little Cherokee actually) but I admire the Greeks for being both determined defenders of freedom and creators of great art...that's partly why I picked my name. Looks like you are carrying on the tradition. Looking forward to hearing more from you. -Ken

Great job! This brought to my mind the mystery and awe of being with Leif Ericsson; feeling the waves beneath the boat, sailing through fog and mist, and then having the sun break through and seeing the shores of a new world on the horizon. You've stepped up to a new land of achievement yourself here and it's a wonderful discovery. -Ken

Thanks for reviewing Ken, I think the notion of Leif's long boat aproaching the shore of what would one day become America fits nicely with this. Cheers, Jamie.
