The acoustic combined with whatever reverb you're using is really tasty. BIG SOUNDS juxtaposed with nylon strings creates a really nice sonic paradox. Well done.
I was really intrigued by the title, and glad for it. The xylophone and horns have a Manhattan feel somehow. I really like how slow this whole thing is, which allows such a great staggered beat with those horns. The slower something is, the harder it is to pull off, and you've done it splendidly here! My latest addition to favs!
Hello,
Thanks for the review. The title just came to me when I finished the song and, just like you,I found it quite intriguing, that's why I left it like this.I'm happy you like the song because it's my first try with hip hop Rn'b style.
Cheers

Something redeeming coming out of AZ - who would've guessed? Nice use of sonic choices and really nice transitions. Frenchkid's right - there's a definite Depeche Mode vibe going on with this one. Sweet.
I'm beginning to see some sort of hip hop insurrection happening on this site, and am glad to see that you're one of the subversive forces involved. Your use of "ethnic" flavored samples opens the door wide open to those of us still resistant to the genre, and your "staying within the discipline" means that you're inviting a much larger audience in as well. In terms of your arrangement and execution, I can't help but think that your musical growth is on some sort of parabolic trajectory. I really dig that wind section that reminds me of 1920's interpretation of the exotic orient! I wasn't sure about this one when I listened to it a few days ago, but realize that it's so good that I had to hear it 4 or 5 times before I could consider reviewing. Very, very sweet! Faved for sure.
I'm into the percussive side of things, and having grown up with live gamelan I have a deep affinity for tuned percs. It's certainly world by virtue of your instrument choices, and it's got that house vibe, too (especially if compared to early acid house). I think you're really on to something here as it took me three listens before I began to like it (vacillating between reservations and ambivalence). None of my long term favorite songs or artists did I begin to dig before at least the third listen so I'm going with that here. Something unique and memorable. Have you considered playing with some reverb and/or delay with the DnB section? I don't know if it'd work, but adding a kind of reggae-dub approach might be really interesting.
Had to fav it after the 4th run! Yup - you're definitely on to something here.
Yeah, I hear ya. Percs and drums are where it's at with music IMO. I think they serve as a great cradle for learning how to make music (good for form and measure).
As for catching onto something, that's why I almost always start a review on the second play. So I can give the entire track the chance to go through once without self-induced distraction (of thoughts and typing). It's very rare for me to write something off and when I do it's usually the message that does it in (the curse of lyrics and all that).
As for effects, sure I could monkey around with this in trying some dif stuff. Since I love to do that sort of thing. Glad ya dug it. Later on!
I had to hear what you're up to because your name is so good! Seeing where you're from, I'm not terribly surprised. I'm tipping back a room temperature Stout and saluting Bobby Burns - "here's to all still there, and those who ran away long ago!" I'm finally coming around to an appreciation of hip hop, and concur with smallpaul: this is as good as I've heard so far. Nice use of the winds section here - could be Celtic, could be South Asian (the two instruments that'll make me eyes well up everytime - a well played sitar and the pipes). I can't wait to hear what you post next. Cheers.
thanks for the replies people.. i do have a good few beatson the comp but there kind of bein held back for a small e.p type thing iam working on probably never get round to it tho so al be uploading more stuff soon..
glad to see non hip hop heads feeling it.
cheers
You've probably noticed this isn't my first listen. I've wanted to give you feedback, but honestly generically it's outside my comfort zone. So from someone who you probably shouldn't listen to, I think it really works. I love the barking "dogs of war" as an effect and it's very provocative. Excellent riddum, and it's got that distinctly funk sounding guitar lick that throws it off into something else entirely. Hopefully, if not in our lives, soon thereafter humans will realize how obsolete this whole war addiction really is.
yeah, the good ol dogs of war, you got it right about the barking too, to tie in the animalistic parallel you know!! I gonna see where i can end with this and keep you posted my man! thanks for the love!

I love finding tracks inspired by pieces of literature! This one's got a foreboding atmosphere to be sure, and I suspect parallels Bradbury's theme as well (it's been a long, long time since I read it). Really great job of creating an "uncertain" environment with the sounds you chose!
Yeah man! The title was so intriguing I had to have a listen, and it really works well with DJMiki's questions. I love the transitions in this - how the space is suddenly filled by rhythm and synth. Nice choice of sounds here, too. I listened to this on headphones and the bass level was perfect. Hopefully others with better sound systems will find the same. Nice one.
What's really amazing is comparing this to "Move Along." You are sooo jacked in right now! I really like how you've found "spaces" to move everything back here, and how the melody works so well with your rhythmic sensibility. Nice track.
I need to stop reading descriptions before listening - I can't stop thinking about melodies now! [time shift - 2nd listen] You've really got a good sense of where transitions belong and skill in making them happen. I can't stop wondering about the melody you've got in mind! Nice draft - I can't wait to see where you take it next!
Thank you for the great review!

You are indeed becoming an embodiment of the genre! Really outstanding blend of sounds from opposite ends of the sonic spectrum. My 13 year old made me replay this one three times! I went back and listened to "Little Sisters Song," and "Accelerate" after reading your responses here, and it's amazing hearing how your approach has changed. Jack into what you enjoy the most and hear how the music reflects it!
I'm really fascinated reading about your creative process. I'm exactly the opposite, in that I can't listen to anything remotely similar to what I'm working on (lately listening to Mozart and Habib Koite). It's like that when I'm writing, too - but there I can't read any fiction at all!
Ha! My initial reaction was the same as Fiery's - and I'm not sure either of us was wrong. Gorgeous blending of sounds and rhythms here. The vox are soooo provocative in such a sublime way, especially with those rhythms sliding around behind. Probably the coolest I've heard along these lines since "Instant Kama Sutra."
Most excellent work here. I definitely am looking forward to seeing more of your work posted here, and you can count on me being a regular listener. Very polished, and leaves me unable to give constructive suggestions - save I really wish it would be longer! Cheers.
Perfect length for a corporate intro - but way too short for the fans! Really outstanding work here, a great combination of sounds, rhythm and execution. If it were 3 or 4 times as long, it still could be longer! Sweet.

Awesome track! Great way of turning a disappointing (but funny) situation and turning it into a great tune. You've got a great voice, and the backing vocals work so well here. Donde estan mis crepas? Not from Dominos!
Good social criticism going on here, both in terms of vocals and with sample selection. "This is cocaine speaking" is a phrase that carries many connotations, and really does push it into a creepy place. Well done with that. I'm finding the mix a bit too high, and having really serious clipping/distortion issues on my little machine here. Any plans on remixing?
uinfortunatly my machine crashed and all i have to work with now is the saved mp3...all loops are lost but im tryin to find them again...really do wanna work on this more to get that distortion down but im at a loss as to what to do
It's hard finding words for this one. I'd love to give some constructive criticism, but it's beyond me. I think you nailed it with your title - and I can feel "no love" in the frequencies you've chosen here. Yeah, I felt just like this before and you've captured it SO well sonically. A great exorcism piece to dispel the bad vibes. Nice one.
The melody and harmony in conjunction with percs in this one are awesome. It'd be hard to stay in a bad mood with this playing - it's a Pacific Northwest sound! Like a bit of sunshine peaking through cloud. Yep - I've got to reevaluate my prejudice towards hip hop - thanks for helping me here. Faved.
Good beat, and I agree with Spivkurl - there's definitely tension underlying this track! Nice marriage between bassline and percussion. Cheers.
PS- "tension" is the pull between forces. Angels-Devils=tension. Some of the pads vs. percussion feels like this here. I think this is what you wanted - yes? So "tension" for this track is a good thing!
Hey n0mad23 ,thanks for the review man,and excuse me i hope you answer me if you have a time =), really i don't know about the "tension underlying" if it's good or bad and where its place,in the first time Spivkurl told me and i thought the track give him a tension Haha , my mistake man,but it's my translator translation
thanks again man =)
Interesting - I found myself reflecting on how the electronic medium really promotes the use of sounds that previously were deemed "primitive." You've got a synth happening here that really reminds me of my bamboo jaw harps and some of the drones really aren't that terribly different than what a didgeridoo does. Great rhythms here. Thanks.
