I guess this is a little on the ambient side for my recent listening preferences, but it has a lot of potential! You're unfinished, so I won't judge too much. This could really use some atmospheric lead guitar parts to accent things I think... would give it that push into fusion. You've done a great job so far though!

Well, it's pretty cool. I like the part around 1:25 very much... it seems like it would be more mass compatible if you researched what key that part is in and recreate some of the other parts in that key. Just a thought. I like that you've experimented though, that's always a good thing! Good work!

Nice epic trance style here! JJWeeks is well represented in this context! Good momentum to the song, it rolls! Not too complex, but it sounds deep, good work!

No comments? How much of a sin is that?! I love that sound and pattern of that synth that comes in around 35 seconds in, very epic! Cool vocal samples too! That "insane..." vocal loop is just awesome! This has a good vintage raw sort of sound to my ears, which is nice for a change. Not the sort of trance I usually hear really, it's refreshing! It's cool to listen to this, as I can hardly bring myself to create trance lately, and hearing something different is inspiring. Thanks for sharing! Fave! Hope all is well!

Very interesting and thoughtful, especially for game music! You do have some pretty authentic sounding instruments in there. Also not a gamer anymore, but back then I would've been happy to play a game with music like this! Hope to hear more of your work in the future! Good work!

I am digging the dark nature of the drum/bass combo here, very thought provoking! I'm fond of the arpeggios you've used too! Sometimes it takes some savvy programming to make sure your arpeggios are in key, I know how that goes... and it all depends on how you're doing the arps as to how you adjust them. You've secceeded in making a very laid back vibe in a dubstep setting, and that's always a good thing! Very cool stuff! Fave!

on Outta Control feat JacVanBee by Megapaul
Jammin tune here! The bass line is so rich, and addictive! Pretty cool vocals too, I don't feel like they're too quiet at all. Nice glitchy loop part in there as well, I like stuff like that! I know what you mean about needing to finish a song in a day, I'm usually more pleased with a song when I stay in the same mindset. Very good work, I would never have known it was unfinished!

on fusion reggae feat thasuspect1 Jalahmiyaa by huglee
Trippy reggae track! The stereo work on the vocals is interesting, and went well with my bong load. Cool piano melodies, good range to them. The drums are swingin, especially those high hats, well done! The bass seems to really shine in the second half of the track, which is nice like a surprise when it's not your birthday! Good stuff! Fave!

Very smooth dance track! Something about that synth bass line is, like, so familiar, but I can't place it... not saying unoriginal or anything, just wish I could remember what it reminds me of! Excellent sound to the mix, and the arrangement keeps me listening! Good variety to the vocal parts, but they all seem to work together nicely! Good stuff! Faved!

Really appreciate it man. Originality and versatility are two key factors I tend to place the most emphasis on when experimenting with other genres. Artist/musicians such as Grotesk for example make this possible. The results(in my opinion at least) turn out to be really good, better than expected to be honest.
Spivkurl
Interesting style here! I found it a little disorienting how the beat would stop on a regular basis, but I'm a sucker for disorienting music. Definitely sounds like party music! The vocals are pretty cool! Very good sounding mix, it's powerful! Well done!

on Modnex - Mr Flippers by Modnex
Uplifting and fun song my friend! I've been trying to listen closely when people use piano sounds, since I just got one. Your sound has cool melodies and chord work! Great momentum in the drums, and I like the dirty sound of them! I dig it! Fave!
Modnex
Modnex replied 9th May 2014 - 11 years ago
Thanks bud! Glad you enjoyed this one. I actually do the piano thing as well. It's becoming a bad habit of mine! I can't help but listen for the instruments in which a song uses, quite annoying -_-.

Thanks again for stopping by. It's always good hearing from you, hope all is well

on Heavy electronics by johnnyproducing
This is really cool, and a bit disorienting, which I like in music! I could see this being very useful in a mashup sort of setting cross mixed with some tempo matched track which contains some of the frequencies that are milder in this song. Would be fun for late night lstening or the dancefloor I would think! I like the sounds you've used very much, they have kind of a creamy drive to them! Definitely very interesting and inspiring to hear! Fave!

This was meant to be disorienting and weird haha, Glad you enjoyed that
I have some more tracks laying around like this one, I can message you one that is a bit weird if you want.
In this track I was just experimenting a bit with these sounds and see what I could get out of it, of course there is a lot more to get out of it but I haven't got to that yet.

Thanks a lot spivkurl for the comment, I will just message you with the song I guess, you would be the first from here to listen to it then haha

on always by doctorcatface
Can one be maimed and reassured at the same time?
This song feels like what I feel when the panic and trauma become renewed inside of me, and I "always" need something to return to myself. Appropriate for today and recently, so thank you for having this on your profile. NO ONE sounds like you that I've ever heard, and that means something to me. I won't ask you to never change, but I will ask you to never stop. Fave!

on Of darkness and stars by johnnyproducing
I'm really appreciating your composition on this piece! I do like piano, especially now that I own one, so listening to how others use piano sounds is inspiring to me. The build that starts half way through is quite impressive and emotional. I can definitely see why you put this under ambient, as it seems like the sounds are digital... to me that should be one of the differences between ambient and orchestral. I enjoyed listening my friend!

johnnyproducing replied 9th May 2014 - 11 years ago
Hey spivkurl, thanks for leaving a comment. So I will see some piano coming up from you soon I guess? That's cool to hear.
Yeah I don't own a piano (do own a keyboard) and I don't really have a plugin that allows me to simulate a realistic piano as of yet, plan on getting my hands on one of those soon.
Thanks for the review and glad you enjoyed it ;)

on Blues in Open E by djole94hns
Nice playing on this one, and you recorded it well! Good tone for sure! clindsay's recommendation is a good one, but you could have a ball continuing with this one and forming it into a full length blues song. Worth thinking about maybe? Well, either way, I like it!

on Bhangratechno2 by clindsay
Very interesting style here! I had to go wiki "Bhangra," as it sounded familiar, but I wasn't sure what it referred to. The bass parts are really sweet and powerful! The vocal parts add a lot of course, and you did a great job mixing them! I especially liked the more sparse parts of this track, very clear and open to interpretation. Definitely a cool tech piece! Keep it up!

clindsay replied 9th May 2014 - 11 years ago
Thanks - this one was fun. Bhangra also spelled Banghra is a pretty wide open genre and pulls from a lot of styles but retains a kind of signature rhythm . Thanks for the listen and the kind words.

on 1981 featuring MStokes by deciBel
Thank you so much my friend for releasing this piece. I am on my second listen, and the first listen led me to write a song I had been thinking of since you wrote me. MStokes is a great person to know and has been a huge support to me over the years. It's a deeply beeautiful song, and I'm hoping I'll remember this day forever, between hearing this and writing the song that I did a minute ago. Some of these humans that I've encountered through Looperman have become more of friends than anyone I've known in person. Hope to still encounter you around the digital world.

on Sweetest Sin by Mosaic
This is sweet my friend! I'm excited to know that you are trying some new genres! I personally think these vocals are perfect for a rock song, reminds me a bit of Rush or something like that. The minimal nature of the music you made is very enthralling, has that edge that I like about some "folk-rock." Obviously, I'm still very into your trance works and stuff, but this was quite fun to listen to! Faved!

Hey Friend

Thank you so much for the review, really rapped the way this one turned out, been listening to it all day, before heading to work, agree the more I listen to it the more I think the vocals do go with the track, Trance will always be my fav and main genre to do, but is fun to try something else in between, have 7 trance piece's completed but thought my just muck around with some other genre's and upload rather trance just for now, Thank you friend, thanks for fav too mate...Peace n much Respect mate...Mosaic...

on After the levee broke Zepp Tribute by topvega
Jammin tune hear my friend! I am especially fond of the lead guitar part, very expertly played! The drums really do give a Zep feeling. I like the part around 5:25, that change in progression is sweet! I'm listening on headphones, so it's a bit difficult to give any real opinions on the mix. I would say I'd like to hear a little more low end, but that's just personal preference. A fun one to listen to for sure! I dig it! Fave!

on Future War-featuring Billydragon1 by dansjoy4
Billydragon does some awesome spoken word, and this one fits the music really well! I like the subtle variations in the music, keeps me interested. Nice piano playing too! I could see this being even better if you either slightly lowered the vocals volume, or went a little lighter on the mastering gain. I'm not sure whether you used a compressor or limiter or whatever, but maybe just ease back on the threshhold and make up gain and I think it would be more clear and less distorted. Just a thought though, I like it much as is! Fine work my friend! Hope all is well!
dansjoy4
dansjoy4 replied 5th May 2014 - 11 years ago
Hey thanks Spiv! Yeah I love some of Billy's spoken words. He's really good at expressing himself. Thanks for the suggestions as well. I thought this one needed some more tinkering done to it....that's why I didn't have it featured. Appreciate the compliment on the keys as well. I used the same notes on another recent track that is featured called Want To featuring Bonnie Rabon's pellas. It's more of a chilled trap song though. Peace my friend and thanks for droppin in.

Hey great stuff! I like all the subtle accents the go on throughout the track! You and I seem to get into similar sorts of pad sounds, it's good to feel a connection. The basses you used are sweet, especially that nice rhythmic sequence! Good potent drums too! That synth that fades in at the end is nice, I could see it going off into an improv for a section as the focus or something. Nice chill but energetic song! Fave!
Diskonnect
Diskonnect replied 5th May 2014 - 11 years ago
Thanks for listening, I quite like the bass/drums in this one! They do sound quite potent here too so I was hoping it would be for others as well!

Dude, If I was any good at improv it would be in the song, and it probably would be the focus! haha

Thanks for the fav again also! :)
