Bass is great and melodies are brilliant, I love the way you've mixed it up with the stuttered notes. The beat is nice and simplistic. An all round good song.
Keep it up.

I like the the long intro, but 34 bars is a little too long. I've downloaded it so I'll start adding some lead guitar etc tonight.

Nice change of direction from your recent upbeat ska projects, this one is very laidback and kinda mellow. Everything sounds great, solos are amazing.
Great song as always Slap, I'd like to hear more from you in this style.

Really love the intro at the start, it kicks off the song well. You've really got me hooked on Ska now, everything about it is great, very upbeat and happy. Your playing is perfect as always and the singing is great too.
Great work as always Slap.

As an FL user I can't help but notice the presets you've used. Try experimenting more. I really like the track though. You'll have to let us know about the game when it's ready.

So glad to have you back Salkizar, it's been too long.
I'm really liking this track, not too dark, but there's still some grimey feeling in there. The melodies are great and same for the drums.
Hope to hear more tracks from you soon.

Hey man thanks for that..yeah I been frustrated with this track coz i couldn't get the time to just sit down and finish it. Still needs a couple of minor tweaks but its pretty much complete. Thanks for the review, and I do have another track on the way soon too!!

Tapped out the BPM and it seems to be 170, but some of it sounds a little detuned or glitchy, or is this the efect you were going for?
Either way, it sounds great.
Keep it up,

Thanks Helix. I put a phase on the beats but I wasn't aiming for a glitchy sound. I might have to check my drivers cos the sound I hear on my pc isn't the same since a virus wrecked my old hard drive. I replaced the hard drive & re-loaded Xp so I think I lost all my stock drivers that came with the pc. Thanks for taking time to listen & thanks for the heads up. Cheers. Dan,

Hi Helix, I'm glad you like the vocals (I don't class myself as a singer). This credit crunch thing needs to go away. It hasn't effected me as such, but the people it has I really feel for. I hope things are cool for you down in Wales...

Cheers Slap...

Again, a good arrangement, some of the transitions could be a bit smoother, you've worked well with the acapellas, I like the simplistic approach you've taken with this one.

Hi Helix, I put sometime in on this one, I can tell you. I was a little worried people would think it was a bit to pop rather than Ska, but so far the reviews have been positive. Thank you!

Lots of good stuff in here, the bass is great throughout and the beats carry the song well. I would recommend you tick the 'May contain adult content' box on this song to keep the admin happy. You can do this by going to the tracks section of your profile and clicking on 'Edit Track'

on It's Done! (Assigned & Neglected) by Ciko
Very laid back beat you've got here, I love the piano and the drums are brilliant. The strings hold the song together well. I'd love to hear some slow rapping over this, nothing to big though, I think the backing track should be the main focus of the song.
Thanks for sharing.

Is it too late to sign up for RPM? I want to see if I can do it in 7 days. The dream like quality to the intro of this track works very well, I love the melody that comes in, your choice of synths is very effective in this track. Levels are perfect, the mix is great.

on 5th RPM Track - Mirrors by DaMann
I love the melody in this one, and the chord pregression flows very nicely. I think the pad that comes in at 1:40ish and fades out to leave the melody playing works very well.
No criticism for this track, everything is A-Okay.

on Love Filter by JHolmes
Sorry to hear about you and your lady.
That gated pad is great, and that bass is amazing. What VST are you using? Or is it recorded live? The piano doesn't sound that great, The chords are fine but the actuall synth sounds a bit hard and distorted. Other than that no problems, great track.

I used the FL Love filter with the "pulse" preset, then started messing with it's envelopes. Basically, it cuts from a LP to a HP on the half beat (or quarter? I don't remember), with the cut off frequency varying along a sine path for both of them.

I just threw a distortion channel on the piano, and then put a "dance" style piano into the preset (for the lower part of the chords). How would you recommend softening the sound? A lot of reverb/chorus? Balancing the sounds? Sampling a baby grand? I've only just started learning how to master (thank you looperman for the push in the right direction), so I'm a bit lost on how to proceed.

The bass is a clean channel with a tweaked Toxic Biohazard preset, "Narrow SQ" from the basses pack. I widened the envelopes and took off the filters, but otherwise it's pretty much stock. I think I might actually record the bass on my electric and see if it sounds better. The drop that brings it in makes me smile every time I hear it. For a breakup song, I think this one accomplished everything I needed it to.

Also, thanks for the sympathies.

on Into the light by danster
There's a lot of variation in this track, one of the biggest problems with a lot of drum and bass [and other electronic music] is they get repetative and boring, but this wasn't the case with your track. I love the piano at the begining, and the drums are brilliant. The 'Turn it on' voice sample at 3:30ish was a little over used, or maybe you could have sliced it up to stutter her voice a bit, so it would sound a bit like 'Turn it on, t-t-turn it on' No other criticisms with this track, I really enjoyed listening.
Peace,
Helix

Thanks Helix, it's been a while since I've been in this mind set. Ska off beat is a feel, and I remember a room full of people enjoying it's rhythm, I was hoping to capture it's true flavour but I was also trying to make it sound present day. Your encouragement and support is most welcome.

Cheers Slap...

I really dig this track, I like the sense of simplicity about it, the funky synths that come in at 1:40ish are awesome, and the pads fill up the track nicely. The bongos are great too [I like bongos] Throughout this track there's a lot of variation but the simple drum beat carries the song well.
Great track,
Helix.
