Wide stereo sound that I really love. I've been trying to make a video for you to show you what I do to get bigger vocals but it's not recording my audio!! :( I'm still trying though! Your music is getting better and better everytime, man. Keep at it, you're quickly becoming a serious contender on this site. Even though you don't think you're the best at singing, your voice works perfectly for this track. Fun-lovin', raw and relatable. Great job!

Hey Brado thanks for the compliments I really appreciate it. I am going to be teaching an audio engineering section in my communications class next school year so I thought I should probably buckle down and start learning some of the technical stuff so that my students can hopefully make some decent recordings. By the way I found this website that allows you to make video recordings with both system audio and microphone audio simultaneously for free. I tried it on my windows machine and worked great, here is the site:http://www.apowersoft.com/free-online-screen-recorder hopefully this will work because I am really looking forward to seeing your process. Anyway thanks again for checking out the track.

on Let Me Fly feat Mhyst by zacvoos
An oddly happy tune for someone who sounds like they end up sick of human interaction at the end of the day haha. Not bad man, a lot of your musical talent seems to flow during these times of drinking haha. You got it bottled somewhere in there (no pun intended :P)! Where did you get the vocals from? Is that you? It sounds really good. Seriously, kudos to you on this one! I really like how you chopped them up. Quite a catchy tune.

Man, look at you! Your stuff has seen MAJOR improvements as time goes on. This song as absolutely stellar. Drums are perfect and blend perfectly with the ambient sounds you used throughout the track. Great stuff bud, I loved it.

Thanks bro! That's always something I love hearing! Its just a great thing to know, you're improving as time goes on. Even though I can't take all of the credit. Its YOU guys who are helping me move forward. Without your helpful comments and sincere gestures to always listen and helpfully criticize my music, I would have probably given up.

So, thank you, all of you!

Dang 7venth12

Your music is always absolutely stunning. This one is no exception. This is really mesmerizing to listen to. I really dig the drum line and the percussion you used to accompany the "facing the shadows" voice. Synths are on point. Great work here, a gem from you.

I like this one. A lot of the quality of the master really falls back to the quality of the mix. If the mix isn't perfect it'll affect the master. Any good-sounding song is really 90 percent mix, 10 percent master.

on The Warm Glow Of Yesterday by StaticNomad
Greetings, my celloist Static.

How are you liking your cello? I wish mine worked, but I've been to busy to take it to a shop as of late. Fairly disappointed that it came with the soundpost out of place OUT OF THE BOX. That was very frustrating for me. A rather salty first experience. Anyhoo, onwards to the song. I really like your slides. You managed to make the cello sound like a fretless bass and all the reverb really makes it glossy. Minimalist drum kit that I really like, as it lets your cello skills shine. Simple, yet beautiful. Thanks for this relaxing piece.

StaticNomad replied 17th May 2016 - 9 years ago
Yo, BradoBro.

Sorry to hear of your cello problems. I had problems too, which is why I put off starting to really play it for about a year. Definitely not the same sort of problems as you're having but I seem to remember you saying that you weren't happy having bought something that was just too cheap.

Yes, the slides in this are nice and probably pop up all over the place, though I'm employing a bunch of other techniques as well. First time that I've actually bowed the top two strings. I find it kind of awkward to reach them (mine is 5 string though I think I'd prefer only 4) so only make simple chord shapes (5ths) and limit my movement so that I don't screw up too much.

"Minimalist drum kit that I really like"

Yes, it's mostly a hip hop drum kit, with rock kits taking over towards the end. It's quite busy at times but, yes, I've tried to make the drums a bit more background to allow all the cello activity to shine.

Glad to hear you found this cello track relaxing. I think so too.

Next cello track will probably be the opposite - cellometallo.

Good luck with your damaged cello.

That guitar was meant to go with that drum. Seriously, that is good stuff. I like this better than most mainstream hip hop stuff I hear on the radio.

Brado
Darknives
Darknives replied 19th May 2016 - 9 years ago
Yeah, I think so too. My problem with mainstream hiphop is the drums and bass, being so punchy, so full all the time. Stoner, like older hip-hop, is more soft, more details, more dynamics, it's not as in your face but I prefer it a lot, more natural, breaths and flows more.

I'm glad you like it man :)

Hey Brado, yeah I'm still using the same interface, just tried to change the style up a bit. Its nice to know this gives off a pleasant atmosphere, as that's what I like my music to give to people when they listen to it.

Thanks for always checking in, always appreciated. Take care :)

on jazz of ethereal forest plus bonus track by promenade2239
Wow, such a lovely piece from you promenade :) Was the guitar also a patch? Sounds pretty good for a keyboard :P The drums sound huge and crispy which I particularly love. The whispers(?) are from Soleix? They really add to the depth of the track overall. I really like this one. An almost-abstract jazzy piece that I thoroughly enjoyed!

promenade2239 replied 18th May 2016 - 9 years ago
thank you for listening and nice comments Brado. It is much appreciated. Yes, beside 2 tracks/instances taken from others that I mentioned in the description I played everything directly on the keyboard on the first track. Guitar is also a Casio sound but with lots of virtual effects on it (reverb and time delay candy and such). The 2nd track was made entirely on Casio as well - it's just an earlier take of the same musical 'project'. I am really looking forward to experiment more with sounds and definitely to get more seriously into hardware in the future. Currently I have some other, classical keyboard music projects running quite surprisingly (in my 'real life') so it seems I will probably invest more into hardware synths later this year hopefully. So far I can't say I am anywhere even close to the point of using creatively the possibilities of the hardware I collected. At least this is how I actually think about my current musical condition - there is so much to explore in terms of going 'inward'.

I am really glad you enjoyed this little piece (or pieces) and some percussive work I did on the keyboard. I didn't quantize timing nor velocities of my playing this time.

Thanks for your very nice review.

Cool beat! I dig it. The lyrics are unique and the beat is groovy and mainstream. The vocal could use a bit more volume as it seems to get lost in the music at a few points. Great job overall though, this is better than most of the songs uploaded in the Pop genre!

on Xyilent - Highrise by XyIlent
Cool beat! I like your use of synths to create that classic Xyilent feeling. I did have a sensation that the drums were a hair too loud when placed against the other instruments. But dang, your song structure has come so far in such a short time. Great work, listened all the way through! You're becoming more and more unique with every new track :)

The vocals are definitely in need of fixing. They are too heavily muddled to understand without putting in extra effort. Overall, the idea is very professional but the vocals just kill it for me. I hope to see this one updated because it has so much professional potential!

Neat use of synths here. Very structured track, solid mixing. I like it. My only question is this: are some of the synths in a different key? Sounds like some parts clash but that may just be me.

on The Rituals Of Spring by Orlando51
Ahhhh, that guitar totally stole me away. This is seriously beautiful! I really like the way Ed played that acoustic because it compliments the music so perfectly! Your mixing is flawless. Wide, airy pads. The piano sounded a bit 80's to me and felt a tad out of place (at least when it was played on its own) in some parts. However, the greater majority of it blended nicely. Great work! Glad to see you two tearing it up together :)

Brado
Orlando51
Orlando51 replied 9th May 2016 - 9 years ago
I'm almost sure you have in mind particularly that part of piano which runs from 2:18 to 2:32....believe it or not I deliberately wanted that kind of sound (although clearly expecting some people won't like it) in order to make a certain contrast and if you ask me I stand by that decision.:) But I have to admit you have really good ears
and sense for recognizing styles. It really was 80's sound
and that I was aware of from the start..:) Anyway, many thanks for your honest and friendly review which is much
appreciated !:)

All the best_____Orlando

on Arrival of the birds piano by Abilify
Beautiful chord progression you have here. The only thing I can think of to help improve the fluidity of the piano's emotion would be to add sustain, but that is only something I'd do. Maybe adding a little more reverb would help to increase the depth of it all. Feels a bit dry at the moment, though the beauty of this piece still stands. Great work, your stuff is constantly getting better, friend.

Wow, I like this one a lot. Your voice is definitely better suited for the lower register as cru mentioned. Nothing wrong with your other works, since this is a hobby for you, its not that important that you train since I would think its more of an outlet for you than anything. Seriously, your mixing has improved so much. Sounds super wide and professional. The vocal could been bigger in my opinion, even though it still cuts through the mix nicely. All the instruments and recording are flawless, I have no critiques there. Good stuff, buddy. Your music is constantly improving and I'm very happy to witness that. All the best,
