I hope you don't mind the multiple comments but wow really a man huh? That's crazy tweaking with the vocals then, I can hardly tell. The bass wasn't much of an issue with me, and trust me I'm BIG on bass.
But i understand what peril was trying to say in his critique, the rest of the track would definitely flesh out more with an edit to the bass. I didn't think this was even possible for the longest time a year or two ago. (Used to suck at mixing bass)
And a girl told me women were going to take over the world once. So are you planning world domination too or just a takeover of music V Solana style?
No, music is just a little tiny part of it - it's world domination we are after (yes a multiple "we", there are of course a huge amount of women just waiting for the right moment to make the move.)
(Funny they haven't contact me at all yet, though? But that's a minor issue. The Day Will Come.)
(Yes I'm sure.)
So, yeah it's a man singing.
Infact, this is a part of the world domination plan, all men are turning in to women.
I'm making it happen as we speak. We are starting with altering your voices.
Oh, wow, this track is amazing. The juxtaposition of the sounds in the intro was magical. I especially liked the first third of this track, amazingly atmospheric. I personally prefer the chillout vibe more than the upbeat sections, but I'm just being picky.
Dare I say this is in my top 3 tracks I've personally heard on looperman? YES!
Hi again Steve!
Funny you should write about your top 3 - I've just recently found a new all time favourite on this site: your song "Two Seasons".
Really, really ADORE that song, it even grows the more I listen to it (and I'm one of those crazy people who listen to the same songs for dayes and sometimes weeks, over and over again).
So you liking a song of mine, even for a moment, is a huge compliment, thank you!
I think Steve is dead on - you really have grown at an exponential rate and rapidly put yourself at the top of the list of great composers on this site. If that is you on the piano throughout this one, then you have skills on that as well.
All I can say is I have a massive amount of respect for what you have accomplished here. I know nothing about the genre, but I do know a little something about the level of difficulty in creating something this good. You should be proud of this one, because it really is stellar work.
Hi Bear!
So nice of you to write this - your amazing piano loops were the first ones I ever used in a song from this site a little over a year ago and I remember you not being overly impressed by the result and rightly so, it was horrendous!! =D
So I guess you really can tell the differences between now and then.
This was a fun song to make and I think a lot of the reason why it worked out was because of the pella, it's an interesting pella and gives a lot of ideas to build the instrumental up on.
About the piano, some of it is mine, but there is also a pianoloop underneath. I'm only placing out notes on the pianoroll in FL at the moment and don't have a midi or a real piano but I hope that will change in the future.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving these engouraging words! And all the best to you and your loved ones.
/ SJ =)
lol I don't know where you got that idea from "him being my boyfriend" I aint gay bro,(not that I have any problems with gay people) but thanks bro Lol
Well this is something a bit different. The into is kind of ambient or chill out and then it progresses into a slow kind of breakbeat number. Like the swirling pads, the bass and the piano.
The vocals are kind of hypnotic as well.
A mellow number with lots of original ideas.
I enjoyed it.
FR
Greetings. Bit of a crazy, far out intro but I like it.
I can hear a big audio edit pop at 0:07 so could do with being smoothed out.
Then it kicks in to a decent clap-led beat and a something that sounds a bit like udu drums - an interesting type of drum.
Vocals are rather beautiful and there are some big, far out pads.
1:16 big audio pop as a new sample comes in. Then a big trance lead.
1:47 I like the space here when the trance lead drops out. Allows me to hear beat better.
I like the heavy reverb vocal but maybe there's too much at times. Not a problem - just might be good to vary it a bit in places (if you can).
3:29, 3:32 and 3:42 big audio pops.
It's a good piece of music and my main suggestions are to remove all audio pops and perhaps look to turn down the reverb in places. Will be more powerful when you bring it back in big. And it's fun to sculpt it.
So you actually liked this enough to write a comment! That's a surprise considering how picky you are, and the sound quality is more than terrible in this track.
I was listening after the audio pops and I think it's the sub bass dropping that makes that popping sound.
The reverb on the vocals (male vocals by the way - repithed and altered by me) is easily fixable, I'll look in to that also when remixing this - hopefully in the near future.
(I'm trying to catch up with a lot of afterwork with a lot of songs and it feels a little exhausting really...the fun part being the composing and putting together a new soundscape and creating melodies. All the other technical stuff is less fun obviously. But I'm on it.)
Thanks for taking your time and for the feedback!!
Cheers/ SJ =)
Oh, nevermind i see the vocals are from DJghostsweden..but I don't see any acapella's on the only ghostsweden's profile on this site. Just googled the name too.
Great track here, keen usage of looperman loops. Probably like this better than your other track. Vocals by you? Ethereal. This song isn't really weird, more electronic and dance. So women are taking over huh? hmph, I like the sound of it. Can you ladies take it the next level though? ;) I'll be honest with you, I've usually known this right away. You might win my challenge, I actually love how this is pieced together. I have a thing for dreamy female vocals too, I'm HIT. Right in the feels. Faved and downloaded. Peace
So I might win but now that you know it's not me singing I might not anyway?
=D
Well, that's the closest I've ever been to winning in a music competition of any kind so I'm content with that too - to almost maybe win.
Really nice to hear that you liked this, I think this could be my new favourite song of all the songs I made so far(I kind of hate a lot of them too). But that bass issue needs to be fixed and there is some mixing issues and I haven't really mastered this at all (because that's the most boring part and I don't really know how to do it anyway).
Yada yada...
Oh about the vocal - It's actually a man singing, I just pitched it and altered the tempo and some other things.
So much for the ethereal, dreamy female singing here but that's what I had for the moment so I altered it to sound the way I wanted it to sound and it turned out pretty good, right!
I was thinking about us women taking over in V. Solanas style but just because you're being this manageable I think we are going to do it in a more friendly way. The next level is coming any day now.
Bare with.
wow this is beautiful, so magical you really took me away with this I'm stunned, I would compress the kick and side chain it above the bass with a small release time of maybe 1 - 1.20
and it will come right through the bass then it's not a problem at all :)
I love this the vocals played a big part too they were mixed perfectly.
thanks for the free DL & well done !
Thanks for the advice!! Have to try that. How do you guys know this technical stuff, anyway? It's the boring side of this production bussiness, to remember all that technical gibberish.
Really glad you liked this though, I imagined that it would be too far off for most people here.
Serious track with your progressivity...electro and trance, dance elements?
Yeah, that bass is interesting...:-)
Full credit to you about the 'making music without borders' mentality...
Hi Danke!
This one is for the Looptrack competition and I made it today. And it really has big issues with the bass totally taking over!!
That's not what I heard in the DAW...anyway, no matter, it's all just for fun.
@ Crucethus, Understandable, I was open to the critique and I'm sure SJ is here too. I respect that. But just in my listening, I thought it sounded great. Just wanted to clarify that, I wasn't trying to say your critique was useless or irrelevant or anything, I just had a difference in opinion. Like many do
*Sorry SJ, I'll cut it here. Don't wanna take up space on your track comment section.
"Now you are killing me - arrange it more complex? I already outdid my capacity here I think, it was really hard to get it all together with that crazy beat and the vocal behaving very stubbornly...
But I'll try!"
Remember that's what Robert "Mutt" Lange, would say to all his artists. "Just do one more take. do it again". It just pushes us and makes us better and we learn more. look at how far you have come so far. It's a nice tune, but I think you could make it better.
@GramoChopin " I find it a little odd Crucethus wants to hear this more complex. I think it already sounds nicely arranged, the end skipped a bit though"
The reason I think this way is I have already thought of some ways that the sound could be built upon the basic structure. to me it would sound interesting. Sort of how Bach starts out simple and add's layers of complexity in his exercises. Our artist has come a long way and is becoming an excellent looper. I am only there for her as a support and my suggestions may seem harsh, but there not. I have great faith in this one in that she will be even better. @ Steve, we should have a count to see how many Steve's are really on this site, be interesting to know?
And I will.
I also have some more ideas for this one, for the drum line in particular and some of the melodies and mixing.
It could be the club edit...hahaha - well now I'm dreaming here but I'll try it anyway.
And well technically no having a "floaty" mix isn't a bad thing. I meant it in a mental way i guess, i was pretty baked listening to it yesterday lol But in all seriousness, "Seriously Joking" I do like this track alot. Excuse the pun yet again. ahaha peace man, see you around
When I get better at this production stuff I would love to collab with you in some way if you'd let me use your pella.
But that can take years...aaanyway - I'm dreaming on.
I think it sounds good.
Sure there will be always something that could be better or more clear or this or that, but all in all i like it the way it is.
(But i dont have realy good soundsystem or else - just a 25 years old nikko reciver on sharp speaker.)
And your track dosend sound bader then other profi produces. Or say better - It sounds same good as them.
Hi Joe!
Thanks for listening. There is still a lot to be done on this one but you are right, it can always get better and the limit has to be drawn somewhere...
This track isn't quite there yet though, so to be continued.
This is sounding really good. The vocal matches the track really well, the drums are different, i've not heard anyone do a beat like that so congrats for trying something original. The breakdowns are nice and i like the progression of the synths.
You've done a good job with this one.
FR
Very, Very Solid production I can tell you like what you do...
The harmonics are right on, not many out here use the auto tuner
in the right way, the way you set up the ghost track on his voice
tells me you are in it, when you work it...That's what it is right there...
You've got a rocket here....hearing it 2nd time around Maaaaad piece
of work.... :-)...Simple Clean and Very Real...It's got that feel...
Hi TG!
I loved working with this tune! I think some of your praise have to go to Beatzmode and the vocalist because it is a really good quality pella but I'll lick up all the rest - thank you!
I have to get the mastering going on on this also and do a few minor changes but I'm really excited about reading your great review - take care and see you around!
Good sounding track. Expected a house style 4 on the floor drop at 1:20 after swoop/build. would really like to hear it with that in a club setting. Enjoying the shuffling in the drum programming and the smooth arps. Vocals sound great. Very well used synth sounds.
-Slimm
You know, I was about to add a solid house drum 4/4 precisely where you wanted to hear it but forgot all about it somewhere a long the way!
I also think it would be a good match there.
Will have to try that.
Nothing wrong at all with this piece. My ears are still okay and my speakers are ok. Good touch on the breaks in between allowing for breathing spaces and ear rest. Chilltronic is what it is. Stay blessed! - B
Yes, too many Steve's! I work with 3 just in my work group! I have found with FL studio that if you play around with the beat range as opposed to the estimated BPM you can find a good match sometimes! Take care.
Watery sounding, the mix almost floats. Nothing really that off or anything, I find it a little odd Crucethus wants to hear this more complex. I think it already sounds nicely arranged, the end skipped a bit though? No real complaints, great production. peace
