Really nice piano piece in this
Vocals fit it too, feels as though there may be too much mids, but that's just me :) Mid's are a hard thing to perfect :)
Keep at it! Don't give up trying
Hey thanks!
Yes, a lot of flaws here. I had no clue about how to make the mix clearer back then but am getting a grip of it now - I should do a remake on this and try to fix the muddiness and make the kick punchier etc.
good start nice bass drops good mastering nice sounding vocals. Like the house bass beat but you need to build on that beat with high hats and snares. Go back and listen to Danny Tenaglia and how he builds his house beat.3:05 on is very eclectic nice bass run...it's getting better each mix.
keep at it. The only additions I can think of are percussive at this point.
Steve
Now you are just killing me, Steve!
No - seriously, I have to take a break from this tune but am coming back to fix those drums. Thank you so much for guidance. You are a great mentor!!
/SJ
Well then; I think you answered one of your own questions.
"It seems my brain loves everything I listen to more than a hundred times - which you Always do while creating a new track. So how do I know my brain isn't telling me bogus"...
"Listening to this today after a nights break...."
The key is sometimes you have to take a break or your ears (brain) becomes overwhelmed with sensory input and you don't hear the song correctly any more. It happens to all of us and the good musicians and producers know that they have to take a break from it. The song Tension of Seduction that I just recently put up is a perfect example. The original is like 9:30 long and has cool ideas but they don't sound perfect. So making a whole new shorter version I was able to make it sound the way I wanted.
So a break down of this song in a way I might want to hear it.
0-15 good intro, cut 17 to 28 (too repetitive) 1:06 to 1:14 place a drum riser to build up to a massive 4/4 beat without the syncopation of the earlier drums. (A house beat)
end that beat at the breakdown at 2:01. keep the drums you have to 2:19 and then bring back the house drums with and added wobble bassline to the end.
The reason why I gave you the link to the Danny Tenaglia song is back in 1998-9 I became obsessed with remixing it in all the house styles of the day. My best remix of this incorporates a James bond theme chord change that works with a sinister bassline. But it's not worthy of a release. However I learned so much about minimalism and simple grooves and basslines and making a song powerful out of nothing I thought you might enjoy that lesson as well.
good luck with this one
Steve
I have a few thoughts. make the song (remix) that you want to hear. if there is a certain drum sound you like, find that loop and incorporate it. make the music you want to hear! every else’s opinions be dammed. make it sound like something you want to play on your ipod for yourself .
Steve
No Steve - hahaha! Please help me instead - I need those damn opinions to know if it's good at all, good to anyone really, myself included. It seems my brain loves everything I listen to more than a hundred times - which you Always do while creating a new track. So how do I know my brain isn't telling me bogus? I simply don't know. I's like being deff but still yet hearing, not able to evaluate what you hear.
Listening to this today after a nights break I hear that the drums are a bit cluttered, just a bit to me but maybe they are really all over the place for someone elses ears? They need some syncronising at least.
And the piano do rush at times, I wanted to keep the track short but that is going down the drain now when I remix it. Sorry for the ramble - thinking aloud. =)
Thanks for listening Steve!
Take care /SJ
Oh, P.S. - that Danny Tenaglia ft. Liz Torres - Turn Me On was FANTASTIC!!! Loved it completely. D.S.
I like this for the most part - you've developed a unique style that often verges on brilliance. For this one it has brilliant riffs and interplay with the vocals but the piano comes off rushed at times and could probably be rearranged somewhat with the part at 3:09 further back in the arrangement.
I'm a fan so I always like what you do - this one is good but maybe could use a some tweaking.
-clindsay
Hello Clindsay!
Yes, agreed about the piano rushing at times, I get so bored with working on the same song that everything becomes cluttered in the end - no need to rush *note to self*
Tried also to keep this short, without any luck...I guess it's going to get longer after a new mixdown. Lol!
Thanks for listening and all the advice and the great support. I'm a fan of yours also so I guess we are even.
I think why you may not be happy with this is that it is missing a solid bass groove to hold the rhythm together. Without it it sounds very ambient eclectic. I know the type of dance music you like in the clubs and maybe gear the bass and percussion towards that and you will be satisfied!
Steve
Hi Steve!
Yes, it's the bass missing and also the overall state of the mix and mastering.
It's too long also...a lot of flaws really!
I need to look in to that bass groove thing more closely, I still have a lot to learn about that.
hey SJ wish everything goes fine with U .I've find this chance to take a listen to our wonderfull tallented mama music maker & got surprised !soon it'll be 1 year for U & annual rate of growth of your skill in music has been oviously wonderfullly triffic.
this one is groovy & energizer .there's a pleasurable psyco mood in this deep house track which has a bit dark ambient music flavour too , is verywelldone & U've designed a considered interval between vocal's scale & instrumental which is adorable & innovative . my thumb up & greatest respects .take care .____Behnam
I thought I lost this track, searching through all my old hard drives/flash drives to find it, no luck. Came back here to find out I can see what I listened to :D
i heard you on loop radio and had to come check out your work. have to say its amazing. i will be checking out all your work at some point. keep it up its great.
Great vocals - good timing and arrangement - always good when a new track inspires you to download those pellas again and have a think....I really like the idea of lead vocals and backing vocals working together to make something new.
Nice work - good combo - and it's fine on monitor speakers too!
Hey, thanks!
Those two Acapellas from Thasuspect1 and Farisha really makes the hole song, they are both almost ready to go-songs in them selves, just add some drums...
I tried to consolidate them but not sure if that really is working...well it was fun to try anyway. =D
