I am a big fan of Absynth 4 and the deep evolving pads that it possesses. I think you did awesome with the drums... and I also like the dark sounding arrangement. But I am a little turned off by the "choppiness" of the track. I also think the tempo is a little too fast for that type of song. That is, of course, just my opinion... If you want to try out something different, slow it down just a little and give the synth some time to evolve. If you let it "spread its wings" then it really work to beautify the track. Maybe throw in some Minimal techniques to keep that nice "smoking crack on the moon" feel... You know, a few clicks and glitches here and there.
I really think this track has a lot of potential. Keep up the good work... And the creative spirit!
-Yancey
I really dig this track, I like the sense of simplicity about it, the funky synths that come in at 1:40ish are awesome, and the pads fill up the track nicely. The bongos are great too [I like bongos] Throughout this track there's a lot of variation but the simple drum beat carries the song well.
Great track,
Helix.
No title, no random commentation this time. Words escape me in such times. Even now, this part is coming out at a Snail's pace. Loss and sorrow stink. Especially when it happens to a friend.
There aren't any words to adequately express my sympathies here.
So to break pace let me discuss something beautiful... This song!
The track's great mate. I'm lovin the Agogo treatment you've got goin on and how the synths (pads?) and bass interact and mimick eachother. The usage of claps/snares (?) is also pretty sweet. In typing this, I've listened a few times and must say that it sound different with head phone than out of speakers. Truly excellent piece holmes. Later on!
i dont think there is anything i can say to you my friend.
i hope that time will allow the pain to subside, all i can say is that if you channel those feelings and emotions in this way it will help.
wonderful gesture and a wonderful song in memory of them.
when life takes you for a dive make a killer track like this one! sorry for your loss. like the sounds and dynamics you created. you have a nice blend of a few genres and it got a great flow to it. i'm glad you decided to share.

Hi Ash, my thoughts go out to you and your family at this difficult time. It's a fact of life that we have to face death sooner or later. It sounds like you knew that they were both terminally ill, but it still doesn't prepare you for when their time finally arrived. Your track is testiment to the love and respect you had for them both. Keep shining bright my friend!
Hey Ash..sorry to hear about the double blow..very sad indeed..I'm glad you're looking on the positive side of things...pretty easy to say very hard to do..this track feels up and optimistic to me ..it really moves along under it's own steam, and doesn't give out any negative vibes...I enjoyed it immensely...cheers planet
I'd love to try out Reason, not sure if I could leave FL now though, I've become very comfortable using it, but the sounds you've produced hear are very impressive.
Funny that I just mentioned Trip-hop in my other comment a few moments ago, because this kinda has that vibe goin on. Course, the synth breakdown that just played kinda takes it down a different path. It's sorta like 2 tracks rolled into one. The first'd be a really killer collab with an MC slingin rhymes while the second would be perfect for a game like Wipeout. Okies, well, I'm off. Lemme know when ya load up some new tunes homie. Later on!
Narrows near the end. That's what the bass sounds made me think. The drums are pretty keen man. I like the way they don't sound mechanical or basic.
And it's over...
Dang, wasn't expecting that. So I'm thinkin that you could either triple or quadruple what you have now to get it up there length-wise. And I'm really digging the intro synths ya got goin on. So maybe you could phase 'em in an out (especially that one that sounds kinda like a siren). Then on the next go around maybe throw in some heavy hittin basses (like mirror what you've got so far, but sub it out with a fingered sound font). And from there...?... Maybe diminish the synth (all the way out or super turned down) and add some long drawn out soft/angelic pads (?). Eh, just some ideas. I'm lovin what you've done so far brah. Later on!
The initial synth sequence reminds me of a chain being beat against a wrestling mat (or a really rusty trampoline). I don't think I've ever heard dub-step before. The way this sounds kinds reminds me of a mix between Ghetto-tech, Glitch, and Drum&Bass. Or like a mix between Mr.Ozio and Ming+FS (with some slight hints of Photek squeezed here and there). Thanks for sharing, I'm thinking this genre'll grow on me just like Trip-hop has. Lates!
Classical. The Keys reminds me of some major symphony, but I just can't think of it's name right now. Wait, scratch that. Dood, this is almost like the theme to Star Wars (79), but I couldn't tell you which one it was. Hells yeah! Did you do that intentionally or was it just random chance? Either way, that should give you oodles of ideas as to how to finish this (just do a search for the score, try to find which song it is, and then do a search for the dance remixes for that song). Looking forward to the finished product. Later on!
I just got Benny Bennassi's latest album and I swear to you the intro to this reminds me of track 1. This is pretty cool (as was the other vers of this). I'm lovin how basic this is because it's giving me ideas.
And since we've discussed another collab, you want I should have a go at making a remix of this (solo or mash-up, maybe). Email me some time about it, ok?
As for the track, I'm lovin the bass and the percs are smooth. Dang, I just had a bad @$$ idea for a possible music video sequence for this (just think of those rotating pivotal lights they got at clubs). Anyways, yer good to go with yer first House venture brah. Later on!
When the saw gets going its at its best, thats the sound id like to hear for the entire track. Great Track, At the start i wasn't too enthusiastic about it but near the end its great. Good Work!
Seems a bit delayed on the intro.
The Piano keys are definately on the money. And the part where it breaks into the rest (around 1:36) is cool. The Bongos are also pretty nice. Hmm,...
I could mention some names of House artists (like Carl Cox), but instead what I'm going to recommend that ya do is go to the site Di.fm and listen to their House channels for a bit. I haven't been there in a while, but last time I was they had Disco House, House, & Progressive House (I think). Check 'em all out and see if they can't help to inspire you here (or later on down the road). I think yer gonna grow to love House music mate. Later on!
Thanks D...I've really started getting into it. What I'm gonna do is upload what I've done so far onto a separate track link...I keep trying to upload a longer version but it keeps playing back the original...check back in about a while.
Afterall!? But seriously, I almost did a graph for Tetris and it's creator, Alexey Pajitov for this one project we had in my Computer Graphics II class. Instead, I ended up doin the graph that's in my gallery on here.
As for the game, it only got to me when I was trying to play it seriously. Now it's great to kick back and play it for leisure. Considering how it's scientifically impossible to beat the game (or so I read in an article about it).
As for this track, interesting pick and thank you. It definately took me back to when I was a kid playing it on my Gameboy. It almost has a glitch-house feel to it. And I could totally see this being played in some Mario adventure type game now. Or Sonic, kinda like racin along the clouds, collecting gold coins/rings, and runnin over the bad guy. Awesomeness! Sav'd & fav'd, lates.
PS. Don't ask me why it
posted all funky and outta
order before (shrugs). Opps, haha.
Broke the alarm clock, haha. Sorry mate, it just reminded me of those big Grandfather clocks and the different chimes they have to mark each hour. They're kinda spooky at night when all the lights are out and you walk past one on the way to the fridge or bathroom (and if it goes off too, aww man).
I think this has potential and you could do somethin like a mix between Aphrodite (or Photek) and Roni Size (the way his stuff sounds on Return to V, specially vocally). Can't wait to hear the final version. Lates mate!
Lol at the Grandfather clock scenario....yeah I reckon this one could be alright, just taking a while getting back into the swing of things, haven't really had a proper dig at producing recently..Will definitely keep you updated....nice to have you back!
Yeah, I like it. The pads are nice. In my mind, I would use them for argeggios and the like. But a nice production here. You should continue on with it.
Enjoyed listening, nice synths great drums with hiphop/house..nice funky effects too. It has kind of short parts one after another which i love, great job :)
Thanks man....I'm looking to revisit this one real soon and see what I can do on it...definitely get round to checking Reason out...it's opened up a whole new world for me...
