Behnam.....if you are going to do playing like this we are all goping to be calling you the genius....I listened to the copy you sent several times as well as this one...I know you structure it carefully...yet it comes across as free-form......Domenico makes some good points in his review....Your playiong is just excellent my friend...I will never be able to play the strings that fast in my lifetime....and also important...you have made some obvious variations to keep it interesting...The introduction was unexpected but definitely commands the listeners attention....Now...if you are going to do a CD for download...listeners (and me also) will want you to play longer songs....and I know you can do that....perhaps a little bridge in the middle..and then a new variation of your theme.....You deserve the many compliments our friends on The Loop are giving you Behnam.....(Told you so..HaHa).....Bravo Behnam.....standing ovation......Ed

Master generous words & great adices of yours makes me remember how was forgotten frame of smile on my face ,& thnx alot fr al mastershp encouragements & supports. Ed I've learned never people judge us true . neither when friends call U genius or when a unknown id of a countrymates for unknown reasons calls U such generous words like ##### and nsyas U should get a muzzle like his horse as U saw they did here with me to appreciate me for showing U foreigners that my country has talents . as I've seen even our parents , our childs , or oure wives to judge us false as We do this mistake about them too , so as I told U another time in mail too never mind to what people call me Ed ..cause I know I don't deserve to be called genius and ##### neither . and master particulary i really don't think playing fast is greatest point of a guitarist .. I should confess tha I played this trial fast cause because of some private matters I was worry for someone who i love her more than my being and i'm sure if i was not worry tempo won't go more than 100 bmp cause personaly I enjoy when I hold my guitar and play his hair smooth and sow and gentle and kind ,and this complicated harmony of this 2 lines is what I enjoy about mathematiX & what depends on my crowded mind .about timing particulary i think 100 seconds is enough cause I think listeners find no way but repeat my traX again and again buT
if Ed,Master is supposed to listen , I'll send him main version of trial which has been about 3 minutes todaY cause he is a special audiance for me whose idea has exclusive value. thnx Ed,master for all your attentions and advices and instructive points & taken time of yours in mails & here too, accept my greatest appreciations, please take care and in the end my best wishes for U .___Behnam

These are not instruments I am familiar with but ones that I do enjoy listening to. I liked all of the parts to the song, the ending beat was a bit different though. It has a live feel to it, like there is a few Benhams sitting around jamming together!! That would be cool to see!!

Another great job Benham, you always open my eyes wider to music every time I visit your tracks page.

I liked the bagpipes. I read your reply to phatkatz4 about a bagpipe loop pack. Would you be so kind as to email that link to me? I think I might use those in the future.

Thanks for sharing, wonderful track!

Nice intro leading to a beautifully played piano piece. Thought the effects behind the piano were effective in the first half and added just the right amount of interest without overpowering the piano track. Liked the combination of the flute and the piano, they work well together.

Nice track, very subdued and mysterious at times, enjoyed this very much Benham!

What I hear is really good. Criticism is hard and maybe also inappropriate because you You offer no complete song. So it is a proposal, not a criticism:

Make a complete song, not "only" 101 seconds. :) ;)
deciBel
deciBel replied 15th Nov 2013 - 12 years ago
Hello Polyfronentic.glad to know U .
& would be gratefull to know indexes which defines a completed track for U .
if U take a look to linX below from my older uploaded musical trials here:
http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/148273
http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/139265
or these other example that I have put them in hidden traX of mine after 1 or 2 days and now I make them visible to make U underestand my reply better :
http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/143015
U may find ouT my idea abouT producing abouT 20 duet or recital track with 100_101seconds, or less duration, almost all selfplayed by me and if few not played all notes are written by me,to express a concept, meaning, some moments or
a perception,sensation,or...anyway a title for listener ,in a pithy, compendious & terse manner in which '' respecting to the time & in facT taken time from listener to express a concept for him by music '' , is mosT importanT criterion for me .
I underestand maybe in that genre of music which U work on it and that produces for quantity of listener & public and entertainmenT & dance & disco , and all by repeating loops ,
composing a 100 seconds piece seems undone, cause music produces according to performance defined of thaT.
buT speciallY in recentlY years ,cinematic and acoustic musiX have many many examples to prove & uphold us that time duration is noT what defines a track is completed or noT .
otherwise as easiest way I could repeat this 100 seconds 2time for U to make a longer duration .buT I think there when last Chord of tiral solves in that ending cadance ,and right in the same way that I see all listeners before & after U have underestood that chord solavation & cadance ,we can know music is completed . anyway I respect your idea , particulary appreciate your worthy attention & taken time for commenT & shared idea of yours ,and will think abouT it later too , and wish my description have been usefull and expressive for U.best wishes.___Behnam

First of all, this is a great execution.
Clap clap clap clap clap clap... standing ovation to our maestro!
There is not so much to criticize: the part that I liked less is the beginning with the slow-down effect (I would not repeat it twice or make it more subtle, my personal opinion).
What I liked most:
- 0:28 wonderful how the two guitars work together (specially towards the end of the "solo" before the "theme" starts).
- Tone and expression at 0:59 ... the softness creates a beautiful contrast with the sparse chords you play
- the clarity of the execution: you are a very gifted man my friend, a superb musician and a very talented player.

I am so glad that you shared this with all of us.
Ciao, Domenico

Domenico my friend how R U ? mastereo! haha! I felt I'm Franco Quadroni for a while..! Phonetics & the way consonant & phonetic are working in your cool language has always been cool for me,and this insist in U about being Italian too .
I'm gratefull to see U've been here and thnx alot for your attention to my description & shared idea of yours in commenT.
Domenico buT beyond kidding I'm bery young to be called master.see there are many traX of yours(for example)too in which U deserve to be called Mastereo buT even U who is like
many of other grea musician older than me are too young to be called Mastere and if U pay attention & remember , I never called Ed or Barry or Franco something like Master bfore I underestand they are grandfathers.for me first indeX of mastership is having white hair & to be grandfather .and if someday I was a grandfather & still a good boy and be abl to compose or play masteship trials then maybe I can deserve such words..and about your ideas , I know your eleganT and public elegant too like less thos parts which I bend music and respecT ,yes , those could be played in normal waY,buT this game with the numbers of semitones is a fun for me as U know & I think I should have these error & trials about it to find the best numbers consideration way in one of my trials at last to can add something alittle new to music & repea because I wanted to track goes to about 100'' as the others 100'' of mine which U have heared and oh man U know lazy friend of yours who it's hard to for him to find the mood of something again if U see I repeated that.
and about those monets which U've mentioned them as posiitive moments I just can say this was such a hard calculation for me as U an engineer can underestand that how those notes are working that I believed I'm sick for making complicated harmony texture .it would be great if U may have any psychologist friend to can take a look to me , seriously,I think.haha.man take care & stay in touch in email Mr absent.___Behnam

My friend Behnam, I hope you are well. I finally have a few moments to spare so I can catch up with some of my favorite musicians.

Wonderful track, jazz/fusion at its best. I love your use of dynamics and tempo changes. This is fabulous work....my only critique is the abrupt ending, but that is just being picky :) You continue to perform at such high levels. This is stellar work my friend.

I hope all is well with you. I will return soon. Take care.

I hope all is well with you.

Master ,Hi I was looking to lloperman buT was not online,
when I saw who has commented for me , I was convinced to come to appreciate exclusivelY your critique .
it's very good to see your mastership carefull attention.
yes , I'm agree with U , generallY as U can see in my reply to other friend like Domenico & BrandY my friends or master cunningham, personalY I categorize this as a subordinate level of my trials.and reason is 2 things :
1_usage of loops=nothing is written in this trial , all are loops..not from looperman maybe..but royalty free loops.
2_issues like that true critque of yours + if we think musical form of this trial is ( A _ B + A' _ B' } I don't like the way Part A goes to B or B goes to A or as U say the way trial is going to finish(abrupt was the proper word_and thnX for teaching me a new english word).that still doesn't convinces me . but these reasons made me upload this cause I was sure between U,Ed,Franco,or Dan at last someone will tell me what to do.Bear do U remember when We got friend?when U had written '' not sure if anyone care ''.
I feel the same ..but also I feel'' who is important to care..''?...''what is importance & why there should be any importance ''?...why there is a what and what is whY in our head? ...and I've changed to someone who doesn't enjoy ovations in looperman anymore..even don't feel that mood to
want express myself by music...why we should express ?...why
music should express our subjective world?..why sometimes ''never mind'' doesn't work ?

I’d make a shorter intro: from 6th second you could jump straight to 25th, 26th second. Like three bars from the first drum loop and one bar from the second one, to launch the mandola, for example.
It’s not a written rule, but lots of times if you have a loop which goes for 4 bars followed by another one which goes for another 4 bars, you can “melt” them keeping the first going for 3 bars and the second for the last bar: it often “launches” the following part very well.

You could do something like that between 1:04 and 1:26, for example.

at last I'm so good to see someone has ben agree with me abouT duration of this ethnic trial of mine ,and before everything an exclusive thnx for your attention and shared idea in commenT.
yes it's lOoOng ..good to see U've underestood iT..
regarding seconds 7 to 26 , I underestand your idea , buT
if U pay alittle more attention U'll underestand @ 11thsecond another percusive line is added to the first line, and then @18th second both these membranophonic lines are changed to 2 new one & then music goes to second 26.and I thaughT if I delet this parT , listener will miss hearing how 2 percussive asian membranophone(percussive in fact)line can be add together and change to 2 new one.
and abouT 1:04 to 1:26 , I like your idea again .
but maybe my mix is not good enough or U haven;t lustened tracj by headphone . strumming intruments playes to riff that are very similar to eachother ,buT there are 2 different note in them .this difference is such little that we can ignore it .and I'm gratefull of your worthy attention & usefull comment.I ain't change this version here in looperman cause I have not that mood , buT I'll ignore that 22seconds and will send U too a verion of thaT.
anad about melting loops in 3th bar line , I can underestand if U may don't know much about persian music & literature,as I don't know much about Italian ethnic instruments & musical form and literature , buT We should follow some harmonic rules in Persian music , for example riff proression should be couple_couple and executed in couple bars.we may can do that obvious idea of yours easily in pop and rock , buT persian music follows persian literature and has such exclusive rules like couple progressions.
thnk U very much colleague Leverett.right now when I'm replying U , totaly 21 id have commented for this trial and yours is most usefull of them . thnx and best wishes.___Behnam

Echoes in your track which echo in my heart for some reasons you can now understand, deary .
I hear the word "gap" while listening to your track ...
Between what deaf people hardly perceive or don't perceive at all, and what the luckiest ones can hear, ...
and it makes me sad ...

And you perfectly expressed this gap here, with this staccato structure . It always strikes me how you can faithfully depict human emotions or sensations through your music ... You allow us to almost read your mind whenever we listen to your pieces . That's true for me in any case, and you know that .
This is what I call "talent", in the purest sense of the word : The natural skill you have to speak without words and make hearts thrill and remember they're alive.

I'm conscious my comment looks dithyrambic and might make you blush, and I apologize for that, but that's what I really meant and felt like writing, deary .

yes, true matter U've pointed Evan .althoughT that's not dalay , I've added a considered echo that maybe sounds like delay because U can't imagine how horrible sounds piano in final 2004 (as U can read in description it's written by final 2004..and in those years ago)! ...and withouT that echo & 2 sort of reverb that pianO sounded like a toY ! but if U've used this word='delaY' for I forgot to send U that mail, I just can say : ''oh oh ! oops! I forgot , sorry ,this wacky mind & busy head of mine makes me forgot to see myself in mirror too !oops & aakh(We say Aakh or vaay in persian instead of your oops),I'll send that now after leaving looperman ''.
and about what U can expect to hear when U play on one of my trials , I tink U can excepT to hear me thinking loudly & talking to myself & my beloved one..but by instruments .
thank U very much Evan for usefull comment & worthy attention & true worthy critical point abouT delay(echo).best wishes for U Evisma both .___Behnam

on 100 seconds pianO for thinking to deaf people by deciBel
Hello
I listened to those 100seconds tracks that you had sent to tonality for my collaboration with him after his comment and your negative answer and i loooooved that one that seems a group of aunts are singing an untidy chorus together in it . but we want to use another one of those unique ideas of yours for overture-or intro- of our track featuring tonality.
but i wanted to ask you about that aunts track .
can i use that for a rock track of mine ?
i'll give credit to you for that by writing your name in title as collab . ok Behnam please?
those aunts are very cute for me.
