Wow, love that kick and pad right off, really sets that intensity. I like your automation on that synth in the beginning if thats what you did. This track is crazy all over the place! I suggest you break away from the 4 to the floor a little bit, to give the beat some interesting breaks. I really love the part that starts at 2:20. That wobble bass is cool, wish it had a little reverb and like blood distortion to kind of fatten that out. id also suggest tweaking the panning. Also, I notice that the part at 4:35 that comes in, doesn't start on the note that would begin the progression again, leaving me kind of "wanting more". i assume you are looking to return to that root note so that you can have the instrumental hook and complete the progression. Great choice of instruments and your mixing is sounding good, i'd say a little more flare and composition work and you got it! Thanks for your review!
thank you very much for your thorough feedback, it shed a lot of light on some things for me. great tips, I guess it's time for some research and hearing examples to indeed break away from the 4/4. It's been eating me all along :) peace all and thnx.
Way to go man, much better. Sure is an interesting mix of genres you blended up here. A little dub, chillout, alt rock, even cinematic, I could hear this in a sci-fi or drama film. Parts of it reminded me of DePeche Mode a bit! Well done!
Interesting fusion of styles! I really like how the bass and guitar play together! Very creative track! I think chill out is a good genre for this, it makes me want to chill. Nice work!
I agree with ArceeSmith, I think its the Dub Bass, this track could easily be ramped up to a Drum n Bass track. But after saying that, I really like it, its grown on me (the sign of any good track) The intro is a little 'spacey' but the muted drum hits are cool and the tortured keys are inspirational, very dity dub feel to it and despite the loudness complaint, I actually think it adds so much to this tracks warm analogue feel, it sounds better clipped, This track is alive and I really wouldnt like to hear a clean version.
The guitar rif around 2:35 could be its own track, I like it a lot (any chance of a sample??? please! ezyicarus@yahoo.co.uk). Just one tiny tiny thing, the drum roll just before the guitar (2:35) is too thin, it could do with dropping pitch shift and layering (add a second identical track a few milliseconds out of sync, and split the two channels 60/40% left and right and vice versa)
The overall output seems a bit too loud, I would lower the master volume a bit. The track sounded cool though, there are some nice elements that would stand out with some more attention to the dynamics of the instruments and evening of the mix a bit.
there are some good ideas brother... those levels are a off by quite a bit everything is distorting which makes it kinda hard to hear all the elements in there of which from what I can hear is alot.. some times less is more brother... Keep 'em coming brother
This is cool as hell. Really diggin the vocals in this one. I have tried to used anomaly J's acapella's before. She has a very blues/RnB style that is hard to put to harder style elec music, I think everything matches up nicely!
i gotta agree with ez. the drums sound really thin. i like the melodies, they create a dark mellow tone that is accompanied by the bass really well. love the guitars on this one. good job man.
I think Im gonna work it a bit more, to have s omething complete, thnx for the feedback all, those drums probably suffer under my expiremental mastering for the guitars here ALTHOUGH, if you turn up the volume its just very minimal and part of dynamics is through reverb, guess ill tweak that too:P
Thnx for all yer reactions fellow -mans :), I have made an attempt to revive percussion through different mastering here, still keeping it minimal. it should now appear as empty as intended and still give the needed accents. Took me a week, working next to a few other guitar oriented projects,-coming soon: dub step series
Very creative style! I really dig that guitar sound you achieved! A very dark track, and a little disturbing like you said. Nice ending! It really works! Great track!
thanks, patching up mistakes now and reading back some comments. too bad i work with frequencies only and music school was quite some time ago, occupying various administration buildings and such. Anyhow, lately I give more attention to the melody than before, thnx for the review, peace all.
Funky bassline, I like it. Cool use of the acapella...it seemed to fit very well. Very nice space in this track, everything floats together...but is not lost in the groove.
Cool ambient parts in the intro. You created a realy weird rhythm that fits perfectly. Real interesting. Nice use of fx to shape the groove...real creative.
I agree this is very depeche mode, which is a good thing! Great use of AJ's pella, it sounds really good. Great synth work on this one! This is one heavy track! Really nice work!
Wow excellent track friend. Usually dont listen to Hip Hop that much on here but this excellent. Truly fantastic. Pretty epic bassline, great synths and fx's. I like the lyrics too. I think the reason i like it so much is because its kindof all over the place and i dig it. Great Job! -Gabe
thnx gabe, was just grabbing some loops for a house track (it's 3.20am here) and decided to say thnx, appreciated :) now as an amateur i hope i can top that sometime in the future, peace
Massive sound youve created there Neon, love the bass drops and the effects used fit the track well, has a lovely gritty sound to it which adds to the groove factor all good in my book well done.

Just one thing... Give the drums more meat, they sound a tiny bit thin.
