Bro!
This is too good!!!
Outstanding for some trailer music for example.
I prefer minimal!
Hats off,
Danke

Minimal is the way it will be eventually! I came to that decision too. That's mate and all the best. Chris.

Thanks, much appreciated. Yeah, sometimes, or often, simple is best in my opinion. Cheers Zoot.

Such a beautiful tune - conjures up images of butterflies opening their wings, walking across sunflowers, ladybirds climbing irises, swallows rising on the swell of a breeze. Your title clashed with my imagery, I guess. Loved the solidity of the bass against the ambient beauty of this track, Zoot

Zootman replied 2nd Feb 2026 - 3 months ago
Thanks for the input K. I like your imagery and agree it better fits the vibe. I was channeling Winnie the Pooh with the title. Anyway, perhaps I'll change it to In Which I See Me Clearly.... Not so negative and it still sounds like a chapter in Winnie the Pooh. All the best Chris.

In our humble opinion, your work is peak when its minimal, but we wouldnt be mad at this getting more attention either. You have a knack for this ambient type of stuff, well done

Kia Ora, thanks mate. Yeah I'm going to finish it sans drums I think. Soon as I get some time away from work.

Hi Glenn, late reply. Been off grid last few days, no connection at all, a rarity in this world and a beautiful thing. I'll finish this when I get the chance..... Cheers brother.

Really cool track bro. I like it!
I would like to hear extended version too.

Zootman replied 2nd Feb 2026 - 3 months ago
Might have to do two! But I think I've decided to stick with my original intent and keep it short and minimal without drums. Possibly partly out of laziness lol. Cheers Chris.

The best thing I can say about this track is that it sounds organic to my ear - as though I just plucked it from a tree, ripened and ready to consume. No adulterants. Just good, wholesome ear-food.

Thanks for sharing.
Zootman
Zootman replied 2nd Feb 2026 - 3 months ago
Organic is the best possible descriptor to me. And I agree. When I came up with the little sequence thing that runs all the way thru, that's exactly how it made feel. Thanks a lot.

nice ambient track Chris, got a bit of zen about, love the clicks and pops all the percs work great, lovely melody too, i like the drums but i love a track when the drums don't play right thro too, the synth work alone will easily carry the vibe, so for me, extended it but drop the drums for 4 bars or 8, but bring them back and drop em again, and finish with them quieter or just the melody, these are just thoughts mate, but tbf its all there so however you decide your gonna get a great result because the sound is all there, hope thats a help, nice work nontheless
Zootman
Zootman replied 2nd Feb 2026 - 3 months ago
Thanks for the input mate. Some of those clicks and pops aren't supposed to be there, though some are. I'll have to track them down when I take another look at it. I did the tracking for this in about 2 hours at the kitchen table, trying to ignore my domestic duties lol. Anyway I've kind of decided to leave it pretty minimal. Cheers mate.

Nice track, guitars well played (I specifically liked those harmonic notes) in a rather dark scenery which very well supported.
It is an interesting theme, gave to my rather cinematic vibes, there is a mystery somehow.
Best regards, Anthony

Hi Chris.
It's not my kind of music but I think it's an art how you bring everything together in the right way and make the music yourself.
Its realy sad that we need to say that it was made by human and not AI.I fear that human artists of music and videos will soon be a thing of the past when I see how many people now prefer to make and listen to AI music and make AI video clips.
Zootman
Zootman replied 15th Jan 2026 - 4 months ago
Thanks Rita. I think humans will always want, and need, to satisfy the creative urge. AI should just be a tool. But yeah, I'm not really interested in listening to stuff that is all AI. Cheers Chris

I get the whole guitar thing, man. I have a B.C. Rich Warlock that was a pawn shop special. Like, maybe 99 bucks. It has bad wiring and loose tuning pegs. Honestly, I rarely use it. When I do, it's just to knock out some riff ideas. It's never recorded.
I have a couple of amp sims that I use. For the more industrial type that I do I use Nolly X. It's intended for more high gain metal. For the sludgier metal, and clean sound, I use Amplitube 5.
Honestly, I don't think the price of the guitar, or even the brand really matters. It's all in what you do with it. And what you're doing with it,...it works, man. Keep on keepin' on!

Zootman replied 6th Jan 2026 - 4 months ago
Yeah, I'm pretty happy with guitar rig. I just scored a free universal audio sim that is good for clean and edge of break up. I think Neural dsp are pretty good too but haven't tried them.

Damn this is a lively track for sure! You really have a nice voice in the psychedelic community. Reminds me of the floyd as usual but you brought your beatbox drum in this and it goes so hard on this. Really digging it man.

Hey Chris, here's a oxymoron for you, the drums and bass gives tremendous weight but the guitar floats. Really nice spacing between all the instruments. The lower hz. range is FLAME! The bell cymbal is strategically placed and that adds to the already ominous tone of the track. This expression of your creativity is way up there.
Peace,
Mark

Thanks Mark, I often try to pay attention to frequencies at the recording stage cause I know that if I have to try to fix things when mixing I won't be able to, due to my very basic and non technical mixing skills. Thanks again for listening, I appreciate your feedback and insights. Cheers Chris

I wouldn't fret too much about the percieved value of your $150 guitar. I have an expensive Dean Dime from 2008 and I have a blue Washburn i bought at a thrift store last year. Wanna take a guess on which one I have used for 97.3 % of my songs that feature a real guitar? Hint: It is the one whose sound I like alot more than the other. It rhymes with Poshfern.

Yeah. I'm trying to remember to tag my music with that phrase. I didn't mind the AI stuff, well, not really. But I want to know if AI wrote it, that's all. Which begs the question of, if I can't tell the difference should I care?..,,, but I just do.

Ive figured out part of why these songs are so awesome...its those drum intros, sometimes accompanied by a little feedback, and a touch of grit. I KNOW if I was hearing and seeing this live, there would be at LEAST one huge MF with a Pantera shirt on and an empty beer can in his hand, just watching....but twitching with the barely controlled urge to start a mosh pit. lol. This one could have easily transitioned into a song like that...but Mr. Pantera needed to go get another beer anyways. Trust me, he'll be back lol.

The simplicity here is actually complex, and full. And yes, that IS a true statement lol
Zootman
Zootman replied 28th Dec 2025 - 4 months ago
Hi there dude. Ha, yeah I like my drum intros, I reckon it makes it sound more 'live'. Which this was really, as all the guitars are just one take jams with minimal edits. I could probably develop it I think, maybe let it take off into something full on guitar, but doubt I'll get around to that lol. Have a good New Year man, see you on the other side. Cheers Chris/

Chris, this works, man.
I'm on my first play as I type this, and usually, I wait for at least listen 3 or 4 before I start putting words down, but good lord, man! The tone, texture and attitude of that distorted guitar is absolutely gnarly! I love it.
Typically, I don't really care if a song has vocals or not. I generally don't pay attention to them when they're there anyhow, (just a weird quirk I've always had), but my first thought on this was "Damn, I can almost hear Layne Staley in here." Then, I thought, "ooh even better...our very own Bananalu".
As far as the track itself, top notch, my friend. The mix is crystal, the arrangement, the instrumentation, everything, man. It works.
I love the fact that with the drums and bass, its not really about pushing the song forward as much as it is about carrying weight. The drums arent just keeping time, theyre holding the groove in place. Same with the bass. That lack of complexity is exactly what gives it its gravitas.

I already mentioned the distorted guitar. Man, its just sweaty, gritty, and sexy. The clean guitars make the intent of the song quite clear and they keep everything grounded. Nothing feels busy or unnecessary.

I think, really, this track works so well because it uses weight and restraint. It moves slow and confident. The low end does all of the seducing instead of relying on flashy dynamics or excess. Theres a dark, nocturnal sensuality to it, more pressure than motion, and more implication than release. Everything feels intentional and grounded, and that heaviness gives it this intimate, slightly dangerous feel. It doesnt chase your attention at all. It just pulls you in and holds you there.
It's like being F'd up in a dirty, underground-after-midnight bar with broken neon, and concrete floors, knowing you shouldn't be there, but too wasted to care.
Beautifully done, sir! I downloaded it so it can give it a home in my "Dark And Dirty" playlist.
Take care, Chris.
Aaron.

Zootman replied 28th Dec 2025 - 4 months ago
Hey Aaron, I think this comment has brought me the most joy and inspiration out of any for a long time, so thanks for that. I"ve really been questioning things of late, starting lots of stuff that never gets finished etc. In fact this was one of those, I was away over on Stewart Island for Xmas and brought my laptop. I was going though some old projects, saw this from several months ago, couldn't remember what it was, so opened it up and listened and thought it sounded OK. A very quick edit, mix and master and 20 minutes later it was done.

Anyway, your description and adjectives, I feel, fit the vibe of this perfectly.

As for the guitar, I only use Guitar Rig 6 Pro (I don't have .an amp or speakers). The guitar is one I bought 9 months or so ago. It's a cheap as chips black Artist Grungemaster with P90 pickups. Cost all of about $150 US. But the quality for the price is amazing and I like the way it plays and the tone a lot.

I totally dug your last one by the way.
All the best, Chris
