This tune reminds me of something I would get when I bought a CMJ disk back in the nineties. Drowsy Xanax-induced music with an awesome Tape echo effect. well done.

Ta muchly. Was kind of pleased with it as improv but then I hear others skills and think I need to lay off the Xanax! Still we live and learn, thanks for the listen

Yo cheers Maj, for the listen, comment fav etc. In the process of persuading my better half to try some backing vocals on this, see how that goes!

Paz y salud.

This track has INXS written all over it, I think I mentioned before that your voice reminds me of the lead singer and this whole production oozes INXS cool vibes. Kudos!

Well that was well worth 5.06 mins of my time, agree with cyber it's got an indie feel within a soft rock track. Been waiting for you to sing again Chris. The guitars are great the bass is hard the drums are staged really good beat kick and snare, but the star of this piece is your vocal mate, very very cool, it's fresh, you impressed me, original creative and exceptionally good. Great job faved

Kia ora Paul, thanks so much. I must be a poor judge of my own stuff cause I thought the vox were the week point! It was improv and one take but still, you should have heard what I cut out, warbling all over the place trying to find melody and words. Och aye

It's the bonus track. Every once in a while a MP3 will be silent for 10 or 15 minutes, then something like this would pop up. Ahh the hey day of the CD...

Not a mess.

Hey, since you have the balls to sing I should send you a backing track or something.

Faved.

Ha yeah I remember a few of those. Sometimes they were the best tracks on the album. Not sure I'd call what I do singing, specially on this one it's pretty flat in places. The whole thing was improv and spontaneous and only got done cause wife and kids were away and I got up to mischief. Anyway, welcome to send me something that would be cool.

Very cool mate - kind of ed keupper meets martin phillipps sound but all your own. Love your voice, love the slacker guitar feel and the ambience and nice sound and mix up with the drums.

zootman, you handled the business with this wall to wall sound. Great mixing as well. Now for the guitar, that did it totally for me. I thoroughly enjoyed your work here.

Kia ora, thanks, nice to get some feedback again on this. Yeah I was pretty happy with the wah guitar, felt a bit self indulgent having such a long coda but couldn't bring myself to edit it down. thanks again.

I got the urge to click an acoustic track, and I'm glad I did! Your vocals and the lyrics are wondrous! The guitar work made a perfect bed for these words, and it's tone is awesome. Really liked this song! Faved for sure!

This is a classic and pleasurable listen for sure! I'm loving the chilled out drum rhythms, as well as the dubby bass work. The vocals fit in just perfect with the vibe of the track. Amazing collaboration! Faved for sure!

I like songs that wander and don't have so much structure to them. Decent description. The vocals with the children singing was great, added to the lightness of the feel of the track which makes you float as you listen.

Good stuff Chris!

Thanks Wayne, I did minimal quantizing to try to keep it as organic as possible, not sure I succeeded or not, probably just sounds a bit out of time!

Only if by witchcraft you are referring to the Great Mother, Queen of the Dance, the Supreme Creatix of Life, Goddess of the Harvest, She Who Seeks Justice for the Poor and Shelter for the Weak etc. lol

Just listened to Ian's now this, staggering difference Chris I love the chilled vibe the sax is red hot and the scream is bone tingling beautiful mate, the Asian influence is gentle but so so nice. Great listen

Ha yes, as I said to Ian in an email, his track is full of life, mine just sounds ponderous! Trying to finish something a bit more light hearted at the moment. Hope you had a good festive period. Hit 32 degrees here today, hottest day on record for the south coast. ciao

Cool track man, some great pad layers going on in here. Some awesome sound scapes !

Zootman replied 2nd Jan 2022 - 4 years ago
Thanks, there was just the one synth bass. The other drone was a sample off Kate Bush's Hounds of Love album, possibly the track called Waking the Witch. Cheers for the listen and comment.

Great track Chris - nice soundscapes and blend of elements love the spacey dub feel and the way different samples and melodies come in and as you say 'faux world music' for sure but it's really gorgeous - much better than my recent effort. That your new vst sax in there? - if so does sound pretty good. Lovely sound production too

Zootman replied 30th Dec 2021 - 4 years ago
Thanks Ian, relieved you thought it was ok! Yeah that's the freebie sax, good value for money lol. I used to play sax when I was at school an eternity ago, this is much easier.

Listening as I write zootman. Hear what you mean about genre. Dont pay any attention to making stuff fit in somebody elses box...it just limits creativity...just take a guess when upload,,,This is sounding good.Liked the intro and the sax gives it a nice jazzy/late night vibe. Thoughtful composing...like the way it evolves and the little breaks...def a chill track. Really well done...enjoyed the listen...Keep on.
Zootman
Zootman replied 29th Dec 2021 - 4 years ago
Thanks Ed (if I remember correctly). No i don't pay much attention to genre and that is exactly what I do! I guess this is probably pretty boring compared to most of the stuff here on LM but hey ho, just cruising and maybe that's the point.

Yeah, this works! Darker version. Almost has some Blue Oyster Cult roots to it.

The echo you are using at the end, is it an echo pedal, digital plugin or what? I don't have an echo plugin, delay is cool and I use it a lot.

Yup, after a few listens, it's Pink Floyd meets Blue Oyster Cult. I like it! he Well done!

Thanks Wayne, you kind of spurred me into redoing this with your comment on the first version. I don't really have a real amp any more, wish I did. I just run everything through guitar rig 6 the free version. I can't speak highly enough of that vst it is amazing for all sorts of things. I tweaked one of the presets, can't remember which one off hand. Och aye amigo.

Love it. Reminds me of Danzing's black hell somehow as well as some Whyskey Dick goes electric. Solid work in two words.
