Beautiful composition and I love your vocals. You've got a very soothing voice. Amazing guitar at 3:30 absolutely love that sound. Great listen!

Thanks Rita, I really liked it too. Must be satisfying being able to make your own beats as you do.

Nice work mate - I just got myself some new monitors and this sounds great on them - the drums and the bass especially- though all this is very nice (again your vocal is reminding me of The Chills) really strangling that guitar but it fits well for the track and the sound production is excellent

Zootman replied 22nd Nov 2021 - 4 years ago
Cheers Ian, the bass was off an organ vst, I used it on death of a pacifist track too, thought it sounded really rich and warm. When you gonna break out your Hammond?!

Bonita canción amigo Chris, me gusta mucho la intro. Buena voz, muy trabajada y agradable. La base musical está muy bien construida, igual que la mezcla, se oye muy nítido y claro. Gran pista hermano. Que tengas un buen día. Paz y salud.

Thanks Fantastic Mr Fox, glad it sounded good, I struggle with the production stuff so that's nice to hear. Good day to you.

Nice music box. Took a second to find the beat, but when it came in is was crystal clear. Nice deep vox and melodic choices. Did you sing the harmony or cheat?

Very nice instrumentation and mix all the way through. Tasteful breaks.

Had to download this one, you get a fav.

Zootman replied 21st Nov 2021 - 4 years ago
Hey there, cheers for the listen and fav. Funny considering our wee conversation re trap genre. Well...I have sung some harmonies before but not on this one. However I did record two separate vocals (i.e. I didn't use a doubler).I used a harmonizer (aegean music pitchproof harmonizer) freebie. It sounds completely artificial if you have too much wet mix in it, but I tried to use it just enough to colour the vox. I guess if you weren't sure I may have been subtle enough.

some days I think there's no such thing as chance, next day I believe the opposite. Yeah I wanted to tell a story with this one, though it isn't actually based on any real event or personal experience. I love the poem, it is in a book I keep next to the dunny (toilet) for when you want to sit and think.

zootman2u, nice, nice tune. The communication between the vocals and the trumpet is top shelf. The synth work at 2:48 is genius. Great work as always.

Cheers MT, thanks a lot. Yeah I liked the synth, that was pretty much mucking around then I decided I really dug it. Funny how that happens a lot.

pjb perhaps?

I have sleep issues as well, sucks, too many concussions.

At times the song sounds like the constant ticking of a clock, a death march for the sleepless. And water, especially water dripping, can cause the mad to loose their minds. At least I hope so, lol.

Whale-ish in nature, cool underwater clicks , pops and the calls of nature are a nice touch.

I just watched the classic Moby Dick this morning, coincidence?

i was looking at the wavefile form and i thought, this will be a pleasure to listen to it and i´m not dissapointent. This is naturlism music, for me it sounds menacing and relaxing at the same time and this is hard to do. i´m always impressed of what you can do with your minimal approach on instruments. i can hear how much you care about the little things in production and make those sound huge. I switched instant to headphones and i´m dreaming that i´m a dolphin and see blue frequencies.

Zootman replied 30th Sep 2021 - 4 years ago
yeah, when i uploaded this first thing I thought was the waveform actually looks like a whale kind of, which i thought was pretty cool! a good one for headphones...thanks for the listen and comment mate.

Great intro Chris very cinematic, love the slow chirpy bass and the snare dropping in on the second count, this could easily be used as something scary and intense, it's out of site under water, you can't see it though your just drifting it's about to happen but when, this keeps you guessing

Hola zootman2u, un tema distinto, de los que me gustan por ser innovador. Me gusta muchísimo esa amortización del sonido y esos efectos que te sumergen en un mar profundo. Una pista muy trabajada. Que tengas una buena tarde compañero. Paz y salud.

Love the wah guitar. adds a nice atmosphere. smooth dark and slinky would be how I would describe this one. The piano is sublime. As if Bryan ferry merged with the Stone Roses and the Stereo MCs. good tune mate. Very atomspheric. Perfect fill at 2:56. The instrumental mixing is sublime. gets a fav ;-) The reverse guitar work reminds me of Manzanilla's work on Manifesto. great job I really enjoyed that listen.

Very kind man thanks a lot. Glad the mix sounds ok. It's a lot more bass heavy on here than on the mp3 not sure why.

Michael Jackson's bassist ate a mushroom. Reminds me of Hawkwind or Throbbing Gristle. Nice ambient transition and turnaround, with the reverse guitar.

This one gets a fav.

really nice warm vibe you got their. it´s a hypnotic beat setup with different instruments. Really impressed by the slide guitar, this one got me deep in my brain. I feel like i´m melting down. The Voice is perfect for this LSD-DESERT Trip with Zootman. I downloaded this and really enjoyed on my Pa-System with big woof- woof. I really dig your work and the lyrics are very well written and i like your more minimalistic approach of using words. Nice effects on Vocals. The duality in distance is a welceome for ears and supports your Voice. There is some kind of 80´s Rock singing..but i cant decide right now. Have to take more hits and enjoy the Song. love from germany

Thanks so much, I'm an admirer of the tracks of yours I've listened to so far. I like that it went deep into your brain. The song references some heavy history. I wish I had a decent stereo I have to make do with head phones so hopefully it translated ok. All the best and thanks again.

This is really nice, it actually has such a hypnotic vibe which is just delectable to listen to. BTW, if no ones ever told you, your voice sounds similar to the late lead singer of INXS, your vocal tone has similarities. TOP! WORK! Like this a lot! Bravo!! Chris.

Thank you, I'm glad you listened and enjoyed. This started with the thought of making something in which the bass line never repeated, I got to about 40 seconds on the first take so didn't do too bad lol. No, I can assure you noones ever told me that about my voice but I liked his so that's a very nice compliment. Have a great day.

The music reminds me of "Smiling Faces Sometimes" by the Undisputed Truth, 70's rnb song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oLl8NLtels

Vocals remind me of how the Stone Roses mixed their singer, big reverb.

With 2 awesome references, how could this not be cool?

Hi Wayne, thanks a lot! That smiling faces song is a real gem. There's a great sound to a lot of those 70s recordings that I don't think we can emulate any more. And the stone roses of course, love their extended jams and sound.
