Also, some of those tips should be just tiny increments. If you only notice it missing if you hit bypass, that is probably enough with reverb and delay. The drum compression and EQ boosting I would crank. Listen to different mixes in your car if you are stuck with PC speakers or earbuds.
Anyway, keep it up.
Yes clear. I usually mix on some nice headphones, then generate an mp3 and listen back on crappy phone headphones. I've also scheduled another lesson with my local Ableton/music/mixing gurus - those lessons are generally brutal, but very helpful. They never say "oh this is great" and I learned that's actually a good thing ;)
Nice track. Haven't seen one in a while :)
I'd put a hint of delay on the lead, a hint of reverb on the rhythm (small room).
Also you can scoop out the lows on the vocals, and possibly some distortion (saturation) to brighten them up, and a little reverb or delay.
I'd also use EQ to crank the bass on the drums and add distortion/saturation and compression to make them louder and brighter in the mix.
Love the whispery phone call. Was only 16 sec in and had to comment.
Fun track overall. Email me if you want, hope everything is well, ttyl.
My compliments for you.
The acapella fits great and how you make that fast difficult sounds is for me a wonder.
And for me the same...i love bass so go ahead ''lol''
no no no not because of you .. i know you want to help me and give me some good advice.I am happy with your tips!!!
I delete it because i want to work more on it .
And like i say ... I work much with my headphone because of my neighbours.
They dont like any music.
Just today i hear the track on my speakers and it there it sounds more horrible to me..much mistakes.
For you i will upload jip jip yeah again but i think i need to wait 24 hours again now.
Hi Baobou
nice that you want to help me.
Thank you so much.
Just 1 moment ago i hear this track on my speakers...before just on headphone and im a shame on my self for this track.
In the headPhone it sounds better but maby i was to long busy with this track and needed a ear rest.
You are right...to much nice things to let go.
I have another version where i let come back the first part..but also that is like 2 differant tracks in 1 .
like you said... i need to take care it does not sounds disconnected
Thanks a lot for your help.
i stimulates me to try again
Never be ashamed of your creative efforts. Maybe you're not satisfied yet, but that's a good thing; remember you are still doing something that 99% of people out there could never do.
Never be look down on your own work. I know it's always hard because however well you do, you think you could do better.
Your tracks are your children Rita! Make them grow up and be a good music mom! :)
You know I like listening to your tracks! I saw you removed that Jip Jip track, but don't do that! It was good - I was just hoping to give you tips to make it even better!
Sorry if that didn't become across, but please bring it back - do it for me, and your musical offspring :)
Awesome work on this one mate. Very good mix and FX on the guitars. The chorus also mixes in nice, the best sound so far I think. The spoken word style in the begining reminded me of an old chicago artist from the late nineties. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKyNRpJMw_o&ab_channel=ivokattestaart
HAHAHAHAHAHA this is hilarious, do you know what "mijn naam is Babette en ik vind sex belangrijker dan voetbal" means? :D
The best bit is that I know a Babette ;)
You getting me into this funk ishh. You make this joint from scratch? Great musicality and the voice snippet is a nice touch. I might just go google some funk bands haha.
Yeah I generally make stuff from scratch although I also have a couple based on an acapella or on a drum track, and currently I'm working on something with a bassline a friend sent me.
To me a great great pleasure in life is to just start jamming and see where the music leads me. It would be even better to be able to do it with a band, but especially in the age of Corona I'm very happy to have all instruments within hand's reach :D
I knew ;) If you listen to 70s funk, it's pretty darn melodic. I guess I'm (subconciously) trying to recreate the atmosphere of the school parties I went to in the 80s. Think "Kool and the Gang - Funky Stuff" and similar songs :)
Oooh! this is so funky fresh!...A truly vibrant! and groovy! beat here, got me moving to this. I must say your work is always on point! with an exceptionally pro quality which is just a dream! to listen to...I truly enjoyed listening to this gem, it puts a spring in ones step...EXCELLENTLY! Done BB. TOP! Work! :)
It's a happy, funky drummer groovin in the 70's kinda vibe baby!! Put a vocalist on it going "OW!" a bunch of times & this would be a regular funk revival. Splendid job my man!!
So The Production is improving alot. I might sit the distorted guitar just slightly back in the mix and add a small delay to create even more space. (not the strumming ry though, thats perfect) but thats a personal preference. I would also use a compressor on the distorted guitar as well like something from Fab (Saturn) to give it some clarity and yet keep that lovely fuzz. Organ is sublime. As I said earlier the Bass is perfect, Its such a clean slap sound. So to answer your question, yes its getting better mate!
Cheers
Steven
like some freakin awesome band playin live...fantastic piece of production here...guitar's gotta huge tone, kinda warm, positive stg...:-9
bass is outstanding as the whole one...nothing wrong with it...one of you best for sure...
Thanks a lot my friend! It's been with the help of you and many other good musicians here on Looperman, with the positive and helpful tips you've given in the past, that I now suck slightly less. Looperman (and -women) rules :)
YOU ASKED ME ABOUT BASS....I WAS ABOUT TO SAY BASS N GUITAR.....INSTEAD OF JUST GREAT PLAYIN.....BUT THE BASS WAS SO GOOD I DIDNT WANT TO MAKE FOOL OF MYSELF....SO DID U PLAY IT ON BASS GUITAR....COZ ITS AWESOME
That lead git has the warmth and tone of the front pickup of a Les Paul, perfect for this track. Nice punchy bass playing as well. Keys add a lot in the rhythm section, quite a lot to appreciate here! Well Done!
Thanks a lot Wayne!! Actually this is a new guitar (new second hand), I managed to find a "cheap" Silver Sky, so it's a strategy sound, but with lots of reverb and distortion on it (and you're right, that brings it close to my LP).
Lovely, lovely guitar - yes it's a Fender rip-off but by Jove, Mayer and PRS did an amazing job on it, highly recommended.
Thanks for the nice words, as always!!
