Haven't see you on Looperman in ages so look forward to listening to this when I get the chance as I'm a fan of your stuff. I have very limited internet access right now and can look at the site at work but not listen!
Loving the jungle feel! :D great track and I'm glad to have listened to it from the featured side bar thing :). Very inspirational! Keep up the good work! :D xxx
Sean .... as I do say about almost every single one of your songs: thank you for that journey ... ;-)
and as always I'm overwhelmed by your very own cosmos you are able to create!!!
fantastic ...
A simply stunning piece of music that I could feel in my heart! I've listened to quite a bit of dub, reggae, ska over the years, and this one of the best pieces I've heard! I couldn't believe that this was loop based when I first heard it! Masterful arrangement and production!
I can't wait to listen to more of your work! Respect and peace my friend! Faved
Hoping things are going a little better for you now, thinking of you my friend...
Fusion the right genre for this one my friend, has a great mix of genre's in it, and all working together very well too, nice beat, great synths/FX...as always good production skills on show with your tunes Sean...really enjoyed this one, adding to fav's mate...Take care my friend...Peace n Respect...Estefano...
has to be said, dub hasnt been known to my ears to sound like this !,im somehow in bahgdad smoking a pipe on the street with my mates ...ordinary day ...busy... hot ... a nice dolly bird.. belly dancing in my fantasious mind of youth :) yes i got lost in that track ..thats what musik is meant to do .. good job so far
..if i was to go on the downside a tad :)..i would say it took a bit of longer than i would of liked to punch me in ... if u get my drift..
So dig the basement Jazz tip intro as you know, drums are just awesome, feels like it is taking you somewhere else before it takes a corner into a Helter Skelter of warped goodness..as I suspected sounds so different listening again, organic and alive, such a trip my man. faved.
GOD Awesome intro.
Ok, this is WAY off topic about this track but the bagpipes remind me of something.
One time i longboarding in a neighborhood right next to mine, and a friends with me and we hear this ANNOYING ass screeching right?? So we keep skating and were following the sound. And all of a sudden like we pull around the corner and its getting louder and theres this dude just standing in his front yard with a quilt thing on and just blaring a bagpipe at like 9 at night.
Weird.
ANYWAYS. This was cool and ambient as hell, has a jungle kind of feel. Tons of different vibes and feelings i get from this. Good one!
This is an awesome fusion of styles! It's good to hear what you can do with loops! This does have a very live feel to it! And lively too! Awesome rhythms! I like the title too, it seems to fit the idea of the song! Great work my friend!
Actually in finally naming this thing, I knew what it was about and then found the composition. It's a fusion that really began as an awkward juxtaposition, but the qualities of rei4real's Metal guitar loops keyed me in to the concept that became the focus. Weird how creativity works at times. I'm enjoying doing these things live with a MIDI controller, and am sure it helps create that live feel. Thanks for the encouragement my friend!
Even with someone else supplying the loops you still seem to maintain your unique style and sound to this piece. It really does seem to be a crossover type song as far as genre goes, very creative in that regards.
You seem to be getting some great results with the APC40 controller. I still haven't got to that point of using my Axiom 25 as a controller but hearing your music really inspires me to experiment a little more so thanks for the inspiration Sean.
Good luck in the comp, this has to be in the running, great job!!
I think that like in collage art, with loops there are certain things you can do to "take possession" of them and make them yours, you know? Of the loops listed above, only 2 are vaguely recognizable now and like collage it's got a lot to do with finding inherent relationships and then teasing out those qualities in the individual components.
Live for me is doing it "DJ" style, so the controller approach is perfect for me. It allows me to play with the inherent swells in the music and dance with it in real time. Makes it all so much more organic - like playing the controller(s) as an ad-hoc electronic instrument. Very fun and challenging. You're going to love the Axiom 25 as a controller! The possible configurations change everything - imo. Thanks again, Wayne!
I love the vibe and groove of this track - totally my kind of sounds and I really should look to obtaining these sounds somehow. I'm not talking about samples but playing the relevant instruments(I have a sitar but don't play it)or synth settings. My main problem with it is that it doesn't real go anywhere. Perfect pure background stuff for films or any chillout event, trance, ritual or similar but it doesn't seem to have any clearly defined sections or changes, though this may be how you made it and what you want. So, all in all, I have no problem with what is there, more of a problem with what isn't there. More reviews to come of your good work, just thought I'd review your least reviewed track.
One of the things I really enjoy about being here on looperman is when I come across a track that I would never ever have conceived of doing and enjoying the hell out of the track. Can't get much fresher than this piece, my friend, and I enjoyed it like a refreshing summer breeze.
You just never know where inspiration will come from, you know? Wandering between conversations at a dinner party is what happened here - first a conversation about rondos (row-row-row your boat) and then another about super-black holes. Realized the connect the dots involved "recycling" and Shiva's Dream. I find that with this kind of "solo" work, once I've nailed the concept, the sonic stuff just kind of reveals itself. Glad you dig this one! Thank you kindly for the listen and review.
Hey Sean, mate you had me hooked on this one right from the start, liking the whole piece, parts seem to have a middle eastern flavour, which has a very nice feel, nice beat, like the vocals that you have used, and the story they are telling, sounds like this one would have taken a bit of work to get everything to work as well has it has done, very enjoyable listen my friend...fav'd...Peace matey...Estefano...
Very nice dose of the blues here, have to agree with Johns thoughts on this one, it does have a very raw sound to it, that also appeals to me, sounds like a few guys, having a fun jam session, nice beat, sounds a little like a satir?? think that is the word, or guitar??, nice bluesy vocals is doing the trick in this piece, this is one very enjoyable listen Mate, so pleased you shared this with us loopers...fav'd...Peace n Respect...Estefano...
"Raw" and "ramshackle" - lol. Yeah, the Babylon Crackers were all about playing it live at gigs, so all our recordings were straight up "dial in and press record" approach. Our recordings sound just like our live gigs. The sitar you hear is probably the balalaika (or perhaps guitar, or both as they blend so well here). The balalaika is actually a Russian instrument and is traditionally played with tremolo strumming (think the soundtrack to Dr. Zhivago) but I play it more like a West African molo or maybe the banjo - lots of picking and bending of strings. The four of us definitely had the Right musical affinity. Miss those jams....
Really this was an attempt to bring many traditional traditions together and make them all dance. All three tracks for the Triptych piece really are very visual, and I think should be listened to with eyes closed at least once. If you'd like to hear the full song, you can stream it here - http://www2.mixposure.com/n0mad23/song_focus_22780.php
I love so much of the music from South Africa, though I think I'm more personally influenced by the music of West Africa (spending part of my youth in Cameroon). Without the original influences of various musical traditions from Africa, there would be no Blues or Jazz. Credit where it's due, aye? Glad this one works for you! Regards.
