Incredible. The self-accompanying style is reminiscent of the West African Kora (one of my all time favorite instruments) and the ascending/descending cycles are really compelling. I had to fave it as I can't imagine not listening to this regularly!
Thanks for passing your comments on this. I was in the Gambia and Senegal about 18 years ago and caught some Kora players whilst there. Amazing what those guys can do with such a rudimentary stringed instrument. I also have Yousou N' Dour's album " The Lion " which feature some marvelous Kora playing. Glad you liked the track.
Yes there's Donald Fagen in there I agree. Brought back some nice memories. Nice piece jfw. Levels are a bit too low. I had to crank up the phones quite a bit. Modern Fusion for sure. Very listenable and quite nice. Nice drumwork. Actually all the solos are really nice. Loops? or yours? Good stuff.
P.S. Brought up the level? Small changes? Still like it. Very Fagenish and really good. I like the reverb on the main melody. Might try some slight reverb on piano and drums also. Very good piece jfw.
Great relaxing and spacey tune! The Nazca Lines are such a strange phenomenon, and I think you captured that strangeness in this track. Is that a real theremin?! Nice work on this track!
Thanks for reviewng SpivKurl. Unfortunately the Theremin is not real ( although the aquisition of one should be a priority for any serious Audio-Head ), It was a patch I modified to play on my Guitar Synth. Cheers jfw.
j, therimins are always welcome, especially on Halloween! Cool stuff (in direct contravention of review regulations). Plus it's always great to see/hear/read fz.
This is a fun fusion of styles! I really like the bass sound you used, it seems to really fit in with the jazzy elements of the piece. The composition of this is great, as usual for one of your tracks. Very nice relaxing mix too. That guitar solo really surprised me, I didn't expect to hear it! You play very well. Nice work on this!
Thanks for listening Spivkurl. I do love a phased fretless sound. Guitar is really what I do most of but for some reason not recently, since I have been concentrating more on composition. I do however have a few new guitar orientated pieces uploaded - Cheers.
You have quite excellent guitar talent. At first this piece is like one of Paco de Lucia's flamencos but it grew to be something else. By the way i also have daughter... or actually two and this piece got me to think that once they where so young that they've got kick out of a caroussel.
The Weather Report, thats great. I love Jaco Pastorius. I play a 1962 Reissue Jaco Pastorius Fender Jazz(ser.# 45) and have come to appreciate The Weather Report and especially Jaco more and more. Your song is great and keep 'em coming!
damn, what an absolutly beautiful song. i saw you replied to someone saying this was intended as a lullabye, perfect, i can also see it in a disney movie or something like that! this was really well written and produced, well done, great sounds.

I've listened to a couple of your tracks now and its quite clear you have a strong musical knowledge and great technical ability. There is a warm fresh quality and a lovely feel to this track. excellent work. More please!
Thanks for the generous words, Im gald you liked it. I have indeed recently churned out another acoustic number entitled "Home" in a similar vein, if your interested - cheers jfw.
This is a very beautiful song! I like the feel of the key that you're playing in. This sounds like it would be cool played on a harpsichord! Really nice work!
Hi,
Such a sweet track for your daughter.Funny cause I'm working on a track for my 2 year old girl.Really enjoyed listening to yours. It got so many different emotions.

Thanks for listening and reviewing once again frenchkid, i look forward to hearing yours when it's done. By the way, I caught your collaboration with Geichi Dan, some vocals were just what it needed. Cheers jfw.
Sweet composition, and really fun to listen to while reading the reviews it's gotten!
What I really like particularly is your designation for this as Ethnic. It isn't really...but it's that brilliant interpretation of East Asian music. For me, this really works as the interpretation of the aesthetic of the other is way more interesting than trying to do their thing.
I'm guessing that's why so many of the reviews here invoke the music for a particular form of video game (not a single shooter or arcade invoked) - and fantasy as a genre is all about imaginative interpretations. And that the reviews are consistent indicates that everyone's having a very similar experience behind it. You've found the "spirit" of the thing! Cheers.

I noticed in your profile you use a guitar synthsizer. Are the keyboards I hear triggered by your guitar or do you actually play a keyboard?
Just wondering.
