Strange but cool experiments. I saw one of those club scenes where the view is checking out the spot seeing the normal weird movements but with a second listen some characters stand out of the picture. Your ideas with the effects are interesting how it changes throughout. Haha I have no other words to describe the listen. Keep going with the experiments. Thank you for sharing the listen Peace.
Hey friend, thanks for stopping by my zone! It's one of the weirdest songs on my new album I think, so it's good to get some feedback on it! I appreciate it!
Checked it out :D Got the album to check out too :D Different is good, if everyone did the same think how boring that would be!! Weird sounds are good, keeps things interesting :D Cool track!
Hey thanks much for returning the favour of a review! It's a very strange song I know, but that's never stopped me from posting songs. I really appreciate you listening to my album!
Came back for another listen.....I cranked it up HIGH and started jumping around on my sofa!!!!! I Think the combo of this and coffee did me in!!! (Chuckles)
Hey, that means a lot to me that you wanted to hear it again! Be careful mixing those stimulants... ha ha! Hope your sofa is okay! Thanks for the support!
Very interesting song you got here, I have to be honest i kinda laughed after hearing this but its a cool track and i like how you kept it very basic, nice work!
Personally, I like it just the way it is. I think it's interesting that if you leave the vocals how they are, you have 80's pre-wave. But, if you ran them through a bitcrusher and reverb, you'd have early 90's industrial. I think, for it's simplicity, (which is a good thing), it's actually a pretty versatile tune. Brilliant work, good Sir.
Thanks for your support! I ran the vocals through a waveshaper, but definitely didn't go to the point of being a bitcrusher. I really appreciate you listening!
enjoyable stuff sounds very early 80's ,like the authentic sounds and overall vibe, not so keen on the vocal phrasing that goes out of time and key at times...but i enjoyed it more second time round. good overall
Thanks for taking a listen and welcome back! It's been a long time since I tried to sing this much, so I guess I'm out of practice. But really from the beginning I was just a strange vocalist. Glad you listened twice!
not exactly my musical niche, i dont pretend to be a raw, pre-wave fan. But this was intresting to listen to, personaly i would do more production work on the vocals, but then hey, it wouldnt really be raw, pre-wave anymore now would it lol.
like i said, not really my genre, but a worthwhile listen for me none-the-less.
Yeah, I realize that it's getting to be an antique style, but this album I'm working has been in the works for longer than I can remember, so I'm under the influence of forces I can't quite fight. Thanks for taking a listen anyway!
With a little more effect on the voice .... and as written below our friends, this song it is very "Depeche Mode" .... in style ....
This does not detract from your ingenious concept, and this way, free your voice for us make to discover .... your other talent.
A good idea of make to evolve no doubt ....
Thanks for taking a listen my friend! I like Depeche Mode a lot, so it's cool to be compared with them! I'm glad you enjoyed listening! Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for stopping by friend! Yeah it was pretty fun to make, and it was a challenge. I'm very much into old school synthesis, and I'm glad the gear I have can make a pretty authentic sound! I appreciate you listening!
Great track Spiv!
I think the comparison to Talking-Heads is more due to the "experimental nature" of the track rather than a real musical affinity (I agree with you, they used to be very good but I never heard something like this from them).
The vocals are good: I like the way you "ignore" the tempo and the tuning. And I am not joking: this song conveys a sense or urgency, it's like your voice desperately needs to say something and you don't have time to care of what's around you.
It's like you have to follow your "intention" and you have no time for "reading the signs" which brings you to "cross the line".
I have to say it: this is brilliant!
You are a f***g genius!
Could this song be improved?
Yes maybe you could polish something here and there, but I simply *LOVE* this track as it is.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
Take care, Domenico
Hey thanks so much for listening carefully, and for giving this a fave! I'm honestly just not that great of a vocalist otherwise I'd follow the tempo and key better. I really appreciate your feedback my friend!
Depeche Mode meets, early Human League (Before Dare), John Fox....very very good, I want to enhance these drums and make a killer dance remix of this! (BTW...the syncopation of the vocals is perfect for this style of music)
Steve
Thanks for the comparison to good artists! Yeah the Zoom RT-123 has some kind of old school drum sounds, but I like to go back and use it every now and then. Thanks for your support!
Very cool Spiv, you are really going for it lately with the vocals! As many have said already, it has such an 80's sound, that works for me. I like the lyrics, creative writing, interesting effects on the vox, they seem to work well with the music. Cool trackman!!
Hey Wayne, thanks for stopping by! Yeah, my new album I am using Ohgr as an influence, so that explains using more vocals and effects on said vocals. I really appreciate your support!
Wow, hello old friend! lol its been a while. glad to find a few of us older crew still on here. I'm glad to be back. nice job...as always.
Talk to you soon.
I love yer krayzee New wave stylings Spiv. You do got a great voice and I think whether raw or processed - I guessed that's a matter of preference. Fun overall. You'd probably be perfect for my song Real World. Only problem is I don't have a version w/o lyrics.
Hey, thanks for stopping by! I'm pretty proud of this one because it was so spur of the moment. I'm experimenting with vocal effects more on this album, due to my obsession with Ohgr. I'll go listen to your song, I'm curious!
The Killers is what this reminded me of. It's in your vocal tone more than anything. Even if someone is not into The Killers, the resemblance gives it subliminal credibility. Your vocal timing and phrasing gets better after the two minute mark. I agree that the drums and the synthie thing don't work perfect, the synth has an extra beat or something.
Overall, like it a lot. The NIN thing got me interested in your work and I'm liking it all!
Thanks for listening and leaving your comments! The synth/drum timing was mostly intentional, I was trying to induce some syncopation. I deleted that NIN cover, because I thought the verse vocals were pretty weak, it was more of an inspiring experiment. Thanks for coming back for more though!
I actually really like your vocals on this, has a funky intriguing vibe to it. I think the vocals are yelling at me though when I'm trying to enjoy the music so I might turn those down just a bit
I liked the vocals (although the morbid message in the lyrics...how are you anyway?!?).
There is a melody in your vocals that could be emphasized with the synths even more. But what a great job with all the real hardware!
I listened twice and yeah, it's catchy.
Hey, thanks much for the comment! Adding the melodic synths was kind of an afterthought, but I see what you mean. It's fun to work with real instruments on occasion! Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey, thanks much for listening and faving! It's cool to be compared with such an awesome group, but I haven't heard much from them that's this dark. I really appreciate your support!
Nice! I like the retro feel this has, and how that lead seems a little out-of-time (not sure how else to describe it). And those vocal effects just fit so well!
Thanks for taking a listen! Some people seem not to like the syncopation on this track, but I'm glad that you do! It took a little while to get the vocal effects to sound right, but I'm pretty happy with it. Thanks for the comment!
