One of the things I've always admired about your work is how you exceed at creating the music to have a parallel voice to the lyrical content. To me, it's more like the music is actually speaking, and your vocals are only there to translate the message into words for the rest of us to understand.
I see people frequently comment on the quality of your vocals, or the quality of the music. I don't think enough people give you credit for your lyrical content. It always seems very deeply personal and hidden behind a cryptic message. There is never anything cliche about it. Very poetic. Generally, it's brilliantly written, even in all of it's own darkness. Which I assume, is why the music and the lyrics are so tightly knit, and why you have such a unique style here. Granted, it's influenced by some of the greats, (show me one person who's ever created anything that wasn't influenced by someone before them...), but it's not a ripoff. What you do is all you, man. That's why it works.
Hello, my friend, and thank you for your kind review! Your first point makes sense to me, primarily because if a song I'm making doesn't inspire lyrics, or lyrics I've written don't inspire a song, then either the song is instrumental, or it never happens. I do like to make instrumentals that speak on their own too. It seems like some people have been identifying with my lyrics lately, but I've also gotten the distinct impression that people don't see things the way I do. You're right, some of my songs are very personal, and I suppose sometimes cryptic. Usually when I am writing I don't think of it that way though, it all seems pretty obvious and shallow. Not cliche and very poetic are nice things to say about lyrics, so thank you! I think I've been ripped off about as much as I've borrowed ideas from others, so I guess it all works out. I really appreciate your thorough comment, and the fact that you listened!
Hey friend! Noticed you were on the forums not long ago, and here you are to listen to one of my songs! Thanks! Your words are always enjoyable to read and thought provoking. There's nothing wrong with a bit of hedonistic regres/expres-sion. Was some of the best spontaneous guitar stuff I've done I think, as it sounds looped but it's not. Baby oil and metal spikes, that sounds really comforting like 20 years ago comfortable. I need a metal bead with spikes for my dreads now. Thank you for your listen and comment as always, it's really good to have you here!
Wow man...I know I'm always going to hear something totally unique when I come visiting your page, vocals are brilliant..you putting some serious attitude down on this one, reminded me of some early Mark Stewart, quality collab man...another I gotta download, thanks for sharing!..cool link in the description field also ;)
Hey my friend, you've made me really happy with your comment, especially since I learned about a new artist! I've never heard of Mark Stewart before, and that just confounds me, because I'm into so many artists that he's apparently influenced and worked with. I read this regarding his band on Wiki - "The Pop Group, a band whose songtitles, political conviction, disrespect for copyright and willingness to collaborate laid the foundations for his later work." It really had meaning for me, since I aspire to these same ideals. Very cool! When I get it together to put some headphones on, I'll listen to something from him! So pleased that you could enjoy the link I provided, I know it's not so in depth, but I felt it was a good introduction to the idea. It was really strange having the feeling that I must record these guitars and vocals at 432 Hz, and so doing it. Then returning to the song without realizing what I did. I didn't get what was wrong until months later when I went to tune a guitar and my chromatic tuner was calibrated to 432. Was funny to me, but this mix of the song wouldn't have been possible without that. Strange the feeling you get when you can't see what's right in front of your face. Thank you so much for the fave and comment! In the mood to hear something you've done. See you soon.
That's really kind of you to say! I really tried to be in the moment when I recorded these, and I think I atleast captured something in a humane sense. I always appreciate your listen and comment, thank you!
Well this is put together, way outside the box but the value of the lyric
is right on the mark, hit the nail on the head sorta speak...
Great production and mix solid piece of work...
Hello my friend, and thank you for your comment! It's good to hear that some people can enjoy the lyrics for what they are. I'm having fun hearing how people interpret the song, and your words are valuable to me. I appreciate you listening!
Well i thought i'd return the favour and check out one of your older tracks as well. What does Zendi Kabu mean then? Liking the breakbeats that you've used in this is sounding well old school combined with that heavy sub bass. The riff reminds me of something but i can't think what that is now (f**king helpfull comment that is) Oh and i've just noticed what Zendi Kabu is so no need to explain that now.
Another enjoyable one from you.
FR
Hey, thanks for stopping by! Listening to this again right now, haven't heard it in a while. My main problem with the song is that the bass is too stereo, not my style any more. The riffs do seem a little familiar, wonder who I was ripping off back then? This sounds kind of old now. I appreciate the comment, and your presence on the site! Thanks for the fave too!
Cool Track Mate ,
interesting collection of sounds and Vocals very nice put together, by listen to the first Minutes and i must thought about a commercial Technotrack..., i do not get the name, doesn´t matter anyway, enjoyed the listen, good work as usual.

Thanks for taking a listen! Was just a track I had to release at some point, after fixing the problems of course. The title is meant to be taken at face value, without any judgement calls... it is a technical time, technically. I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
No harm no foul. ;-) I respect your position. Would it help if I was doing a story on Electric vehicles? http://instagr.in/t/instaiconvolt
Don't get too hung up on the TISM comment. It's only from one of their songs and you could lose some sanity listening to too much TISM. They stopped in the 90s for a reason. I think the irony ran out! :-D
Thank you for understanding. I think I'll have to decline with electric cars as well. I'm a professional pedestrian and always have been. The only power I want to use to get where I'm going these days is food, water, and air. Not to diminish what you're doing though, we all have a right to live life as we please. As far as TISM goes, I don't know how much sanity is left to lose if I listened to them. Thanks for getting back to me!
I come here hoping to find music that I can use on my amateur car vids (this being my most recent http://youtu.be/p6Yw37k7qAY with Ubernova by Paylee). Usually I have much of the vid sorted then seek the music but this makes me want to make a vid for the music.
It's not a cheeseburger. This track requires some care and attention to appreciate and get the best out of it; almost needing to be decoded. Still, that's where some of the best art lies.
P.S. I can understand the David Byrne comparison too, with a slight TISM slant as well.
If I can work out a video is it ok to use this track?
Hello, and thank you for listening! It makes me happy that you're interested to use this song... but, I feel I am going to have to decline. It's not that I don't appreciate your video work or anything like that, but I don't think I could sanction the use of my art in relation to cars or anything fossil fuel related. Just one of my insanities I guess. Please forgive. I liked you comment "It's not a cheeseburger." Made me wonder what really you meant. I looked up TISM and hadn't really heard of them before, so I'll have to check it out a bit. Thank you for listening and leaving a comment! Sorry to disappoint.
This is wicked mate. About a minute in and i found myself turning the volume up. There's some ace dubsteppy kind of basslines going on and the vocals really hit the spot in this one. I got to start throwing some vocals on my tracks.
It's well written, well produced and a bit of a banger.
Cracking stuff as always.
FR
Hey thanks my friend for the cool comment! It's definitely one to be heard loud, so I'm glad that you did. The verse parts were totally effected by FarM's dubstep/drumstep sort of bass and drums. Happy that you enjoyed the vocals! I'm thinking if I redid them, I could probably do better, as this was like 6 months ago. I'm thinking they capture a moment well this way though. Would like to hear what you do for vocals! I appreciate your listen!
Means a lot to me friend! I'm glad that you enjoyed listening! Thank you so much for the comment and the fave! (which I guess didn't show up?) See you on your page!
Thank you very much for listening and commenting! I did just switch this to industrial. I knew I was doing the wrong thing putting it under electro, and your comment helped me think straight. I appreciate you stopping by!
Hey Pat..interesting tune mate, especially the vocals,I put you on a par with David Byrne of Talking Heads (dead serious about this,it's not so much the accent it's your timbre and excellent continuity)...(hope we can get together for a collab some time mate)..the beat isn't exactly my cup of tea but it's definitely going to click with the electro set....subconsciously "borrowing"elements isn't stealing mate..it's paying respect....excellent work! cheers Dave
Hello my friend! I am so happy to receive a comment like this from you! To be compared to David Byrne is a big compliment, there are very few bands besides Talking Heads that have been constant fixtures in my life. There's been a lot of days and nights that were spent listening to their records, and I don't hear them nearly enough lately. I'm especially fond of "77", "More Songs About Buildings and Food", "Fear Of Music", and "Remain In Light". To say I have excellent continuity is really kind! These vocals were recorded probably 6 months ago or so, and though I think I've gotten better since, and could probably do them better now, I still appreciate the emotion and spontaniety of the recording. The half time parts of the beat aren't my cup of tea any more either, but it's a good snapshot of where I was at the time. Switched this to "industrial" since that's where I placed it on soundcloud, and in response to the comment right after yours. I agree with you that it's no big deal to subconsciously borrow from respected artists, I just am suspicious of Skinny Puppy's ability to get in my head. There's this song, and then two others which I gave titles that were basically identical to two songs on the same SP album. Just weird. I would be honored to collab with you sometime soon! Could definitely hear some awesome bass riffs that would inspire greatly! Thank you so much for listening and commenting!
So glad I finally figured out how to see the lyrics while listening (Im kinda slow lol). Heavy lyrics. Some great melodies happening here too. Love how the sweet intro drops right into the verse and the track takes an immediate different turn. Like how you used the dubstep sparingly, just a taste here and there.
No secret, I'm a Spiv fan. Gonna listen to other tracks on the loop but it'll be hard to top this. I faved 4 sho :)

I appreciate you being the first to comment, and the fave is a sweet bonus! The verse parts were the main thing that was contributed by FarM, and which started me writing the lyrics. Glad you enjoyed reading the words too! I played the more rhythm oriented guitar parts, and took samples from the session to make the sampled guitar melodies. Was kind of fun. It's good to have a fan in you, and you already know I'm very into your music too! Hope you're doing good!
hey spiv, the crazy sounding intro grabs the attention straight away. the track itself has a real nice driving forward groove which I like and those vox samples are super cool too.nice choice. all in all I like it a lot.
Hello friend! Thank you for stopping by to listen and leave a comment! It's made me happy seeing people getting into an acid track. Some vox samples were quite up to date and probably spread all over the net, and some of them were sitting in my collection unnoticed. It all fell together though in the end. I really appreciate the positive vibes! Thanks!
Pat,
Never heard this style before…fascinating. Your mastering skills are improving. The whole thing was like a bit of an emotional roller coaster. Enjoyed.
Mark.
Hey Mark, thanks for stopping in to listen! I guess I'm surprised you haven't heard acid, but then again not as it's not as popular as it used to be, and even then it was usually underground. It's a recent addition to the genres on Looperman too. I was happy that it became the most commented acid track on looperman after two days. Thank you for the support regarding mastering! I've been trying some new things both in mixing and mastering lately, so it's good to hear. The day of posting this track was like the culmination of a several month long emotional roller coaster ride, so I guess that makes sense. I think I'm on the ground and in the straightaway now though, so that's cool. Thank you very much for listening my friend!
This is another side to your sound Spivkurl and I am appreciating that your tapping in to it . Excellent beat blended with those power synth cords and bass . Full of energy and a great dance feel to it . This is now one of my favs .
Mighty nice of you my friend! I'm pretty surprised that this song got so much attention, I guess that means I shouldn't try so hard to be different...heh. This is part of a trilogy that will be on my new album. Others are "Seplicate" and "Liberate." I really appreciate you taking a listen and leaving a kind comment! Thanks also for the fave!
I have not been around looperman to listen this year, so this is a good way to start catching up on some Talent .
Irony is I stopped using samples for this year exception being vocal acapella from Dwayzo and a speech from Tommy Sheridan. I am nearly on my 7th track completion for my new album PARADIGM. All revealed soon on soundcloud :) I love the vocal choice and that acid pad holds the mood real nice. I just remembered I have you on souncloud, need to listen and see what you have been up to spivkurl. Peace Brother.
Hey buddy, it's good to see you around again! It's nice of you to stop in and listen as well as leave a comment. Looking forward to the album! Was just having fun with samples like I used to. Hope to see you here and on soundcloud. Thanks much!
Love the track bro, it seems to take you on a journey or something, like it's telling a story...the change ups are cool.Loving the mix on this, it's crazy but I can't seem to listen to anything these days without listening hard at the mix, this is good.
Thank you very much for the cool review! I hadn't thought about the song telling a story, but I'm glad you feel that way. I know what you mean about listening closely to mixes. I think that can really help one learn to express what they want through their mixes. I really appreciate you listening! Hope you are well!
I must say it is a very creative song. Cool bass for sure. The vocal samples were interesting, some sounded like they were drunk, lol. Overall the many effects on the vocals and the lyrics cannot be overstated!
Different from a lot of your music but I like different. I couldn't tell you a thing about acid music but sure liked this track, well done Spiv!
Hey buddy, thanks for the kind review! I know you're always up for some out of the ordinary listening, and I appreciate you coming back for more. The different vocals were stretched and manipulated into submission, hence the drunken vibe... oh and all the liquor in the last couple weeks probably played a part. It's kind of like I was trying to do something along the lines of what I did long ago, except with modern software. Kind of worked out. Thanks for taking a walk on the acid side!
Acid... yes, definitely this is "acid" :-)
I have to admit that this is not my favorite song of yours, but at the same time I have to agree with what other Loopers already wrote: you are never short of creativity and your bass lines are always killer ones!
So, not my cup of tea, but nevertheless a good listen.
Ciao, Domenico
Thank you friend for leaving a nice comment, even though the song isn't up your alley so to speak. Was really just trying some different things, and I liked what it turned out as, so I shared it. Glad some people are enjoying it at least. Happy that you liked the bass, that's definitely important in an acid song. I appreciate you listening!
Hey thanks friend for taking a listen! I'm not sure if I'll be doing a new mix of this or not. I've been kind of focused on inducing a spontaneous vibe into my songs, and remixing can destroy that vibe, so it's a tough call. I appreciate the comment!
