Wow...this was a splendid listen..such a precious rarity !
Pitty I can't download it..:(.. I think this is one of the best instrumental acoustic pieces I've ever heard here on Loopey..:) Big 'fav' !
What a beautiful guitar music here...all my hats off in front of you to push live instruments hardly...the essence of music...I wanna play my guitars too but in this time the easiest way to make stg is to use softwares...shame I know...:-)
Hey Danke, thankyou for the kind words my friend :)
May i say,Its not a shame you do not use guitars at this time as you are a very talented versatile musician, your synth works are top notch and very popular on this site.
Wow those guitar parts are KILLER!! You know I love my guitar solos, but this is something else. Great piece of art you produced there. Well done!!! TG
Those drums are solid, clean, nice.. Good panning... I always find good panning helps with the head bobbing.. Oooh that guitar is fantastic.. Massively creative.. I was hearing a "boom, che che che che" then into some four to the floor kind of beat just before it finished... That was great, well done.
Its one of the best produced pieces I have heard on here Mr Rhodes - I was a bit surprised by the break at 1'05 then settled in for a journey into Chick Corea meets Jeff Beck meets Weather Report - The guitar solo is magnificant !!!
Great track - have downloaded for later aural stimulation !!!
Thankyou so much for those totally inspiring comments my friend,i did spend about 3 weeks with many hours on this one, kept adding little details.Glad you gave the track a listen dude, there are some incredible names in your comments.
Mr Rhodes
Have you been hanging wit Mr.Funktastic ;) Very funky and well played/put together. Love the dynamics and the blend of different genres! That guitar......WOW!!! Did your hand catch fire?
Hi just worked my way round your collection on Youtube and here great stuff the kind of thing you should always have been writing. Like the sound of the blade it always had a bit more slick kind of smoothness than the other strat that Holdsworth Gambale sort of fluidness. Great stuff anyway glad I found it brought back memories of Summertime. Sorry I hav'nt called slight technical problem was going to stick a card in the post but saw this. When I got your missed call at Christmas I forgot to put it in my contacts and my phone only lists missed calls for 7 days so sorry operator error. You have my number or you can get me on relwood@btinternet.com stay in touch will look out for new listings keep up the good work !
If this one doesn`t move you you are not moveable..ha...funk with power...does remind me a bit of Simply Red when the piano parts kick in but its got more power...great big pads & the guitar really adds some cool icing...super bit of work Rhodesy...really enjoyed the listen....Ed
Thank you,the art of soloing is dying!I am trying to keep it alive lol.Not many will put the time in to learn the instrument fully anymore, happier to just use a mouse!
Your description was exactly what I heard and I was diggin' it! Some sweet guitar playing as well, clean and rockin' parts. Tons of energy all the way through. Liked the first break, it jumps the beat a little. Well done Rhodesy!!
Lots of drama here. And all packed into a single pocket.
Intro piano chords remind me a little of Simply Red's Something Got Me Started but then it's a totally different track.
0:14 some sort of vocally sound and then some jazzy guitar runs running across the sound spectrum. Funk too and they're layered well together.
Busy bass and other synth work and then some heavily delayed guitar that fades away to take us into a new section.
1:05 cool discordant stab or whatever it's called.
1:07 now shit is much funkier and sparser. You've done a lot in just one minute.
1:34 cool descending synth fill and we're into another, heavier section with fat bass and busy, psychedelic runs. I think they're synth but they also sound a bit guitarey.
2:00 new heavy pad sound to take things up bigger and higher.
Now more soloing, as expected. And then it's heavy and intense to the end, when you fade out after returning to the piano.
Good, accomplished stuff that's a bit different for you plus some of your usual stuff.
Yo Static.
Yes I just kept coming up with grooves on this one. Those synth runs are following the chord changes, played guitar over them the last time.
Thanks again. MrR
Hey there Rhodesy..well if you can find a bigger Miles aficionado than me on the planet good luck!!lol..I've gotta say this is great music mate!!! if I came across this with a tag on the internet saying "lost Miles session found" I'd believe it, which is about as big an endorsement I can give you. I take it your playing all the instruments here (looking on your bio it suggests it) if that's the case awesome work man! (I only bring this up as there's just too much borrowed material out there being claimed as original)...you just got yourself a new fan..be back to check out more of your great stuff! cheers Dave
Hey Dave, thanks for the very kind words my friend, yes Miles was and still is the name in jazz for a lot of people.I play all instruments always with Addictive drums.Glad you enjoyed the track, my music tends to change genre from track to track,i never really plan what i am going to do just follow my ears lol.Hope to hear more from you in the future. Thanks for looking me up like this it really meant a lot. Rhodesy
Very cool intro which led me into a funky laid back groove. I would say it also is a bit r n b and soul, I could hear Daryl Hall singing on this.
The guitar sounds nice, I've never heard of it so I will have to check it out online. Sounds like a PRS a little. Solid track sets a certain mood with the solid groove and almost hypnotic guitar with some neat effects.
This is an interesting style of track! Gives me some reminiscent feelings from the eighties in a way. The guitar seems similar to something Jan Hammer might have composed if he actually picked up a real guitar, rather than playing a keyboard to sound like a guitar. Some cool sparkling harmonic content in parts which is pleasing to the ear. This also has some nineties rock vibes to it, you know when psychedelia had it's real moment in the sun. Very enjoyable piece throughout! You really jam and groove on that guitar. Dig it!
Thankyou for the detailed comments, great to read.So many mixed comments about the style of this track on here,i always struggle to fully hear the final result as i listen to them so many times when recording etc.Track fog i suppose lol.Thankyou again.
By the time I was just over a minute into this one I was looking for the fav button Rhodesy...agree with Cru`s comment on the bass...great..thoughtful arrangement...keeps the flow moving along nicely with the variations while sticking with the theme...great job on the guitar...I thought very seriously about buying a Blade when I bought my 91 Strat but had lived with the Strat too long to make the change....super track...enjoyed the listen...Ed
Hey Ed,so great to see you around, thanks for dropping by and checking out my track Sir.Yes the Blade is nice ,a great neck, best i have ever played by far but i tend to play a Les Paul mainly these days,it was nice to record with the Blade this time though.Inspired by your positive words.
Better someone living inside your head than inside your arse. Especially when they pop their head out occasionally. That looks weird.
Anyway, this is some pretty dense, jazzy stuff you have here, kicking off with some atonal weirdness and then we're into a fat bass and drums groove. A little hip hoppy with the insistent groove and heavy bass.
Lots of guitar on top, as is to be expected, and some of your tasteful runs, as always.
But I'm more interested in the ambient pad strangeness fading in around 1:17. Then some additional bongoey/cowbelly percussion and then a change to a fat ride. I know you love the ride cymbal.
2:05 inevitable solo arrives and it's pretty tasteful. This isn't exactly my kind of home listening vibe but I'd appreciate it a lot in a late night jazz club, for instance.
3:21 cool reverbed guitar note ringing out. 3:41 very cool little run too.
Strange but tasteful guitar ending. The only problem is the pops (eg 4:08), which might be from the delay unit or if you've just copied a piece of guitar audio on the timeline and not crossfaded between the two parts.
Congrats anyway.
P.S. You tell me who's in your head and I'll tell you who's in my arse.
Yo Static, thankyou for your favourable review, glad you like the guitar.I did try to hold back on this one as i can go off on one given the smallest of chances, whoops. The ambient pad is a cubase vst,all the drums are Addictive Drums. The pop i can sort.Take care soldier.Rhodesy out.
Yes the guitar is good, but that bass is phenomenal as well. I do love those guitar harmonies you produced. A very liquid song to listen too. Slightly Trippy at points but I think it belongs in Chill and not cinematic. Fantastic artistry though, very impressed congratulations on a fine job! Gets a fav on this end. Oh and congrats on the name change!
Cru
Thankyou Cru,those words mean a lot coming from you, glad you appreciate my efforts on this one.Yes I believe chill is where it should be actually,it's amazing how difficult it is to understand ones work as it developes sometimes don't you think?
