Cheers for good review DF. The trick with bass patches in this style is to create or sample a subbass and lowpass filter it. Then copy it and lowpass filter the copy and continue with the process until yr happy with the result. The fast bass on "frankie" that rinses the track after the big drop is in fact the original bass played an octave above. Adding Portamento or pitch bend gives it bounce too. Ed Rush and Optical alledgedly make tonnes of copies of basslines processing them more and more with fx until they get the result they want... I'm not even close to their level but that is the trick to good bouncy grimey bass sounds. You need a good bass sound to begin with.... Remember the golden rule... Rubbish in equals Rubbish out!
