Listen To Trantor Heavy Metal Song By Kper At Looperman.com

23rd May 2009 22:05 - 16 years ago
Description : I just finished reading Asimov's Foundation and wanted to create a song that reflected the dicotomy of the planet Trantor. This planet is encased in hard metal yet has its own strange and metallic beauty. I mixed the metal sounds (from Sony's Metal Construction Kit) and piano and string sounds from loops on this site to reflect this. Thanks to those who take the time to create loops for the rest of us to be creative with.

Well I would never have thought of putting piano and heavy chugs together...but it really does work well...kudos.
Another highly creative piece...inspired:)

Thanks, KTA. I have fun trying to find ways to put the metal and other sounds together. It is a challenge. I appreciate your support. Kper

I think you achieved what you set out to achieve by a good margin. The piano sounds are exquisite, and the instrumentation realy does make me think of an alien planet covered in metal. I haven't heard of the book before, but I feel compelled to read it if it is nearly as satisfying reading it as it is listening to this track. The guitars could have been panned diffrently imho though, as already pointed out, but that's just me.

Yeh I love what I have read of Asimov, and that definitely peaked my interest in both your track and his story. So right now as I am listening to it, I am really visualizing and fully interpreting what you are expressing in the track, and then I will check the story out and follow-up. Great job though b/c I can really pull a lot from it just listening to it. A lot of feeling, sense of space and place, function, drama and time. Nice job. Isn't it wonderful as art moves through one form to another?

Sorry for the really delayed response to your review- I was going back through my tracks and finding out that I missed responding to some reviews which is embarassing. Thanks for your kind words and for all the great music you put out. Kper

Must...have...Metal Construction kit.

Kper, this is again top quality prog metal. I feel Dream Theater all over this, and that is a huge compliment from me.

Again, another favorite...look forward to hearing more.

Thanks again for the review. Dream Theater is a big influence for me so I appreciate you mentioning them-I take it as a huge compliment. Yeah, that Metal Construction Kit makes me sound a heck of a lot better than I am- but I'll take it. Just another sound palette to work from. Thanks again for the review. Kper

I had to listen after seeing the title. It's very cool that you based the music on an internal image - something I do as well. I like how the strings reflect the Imperial Aesthetic and the metal gives the 'foundation' of the reality of the place. Nicely done.

Sorry for the late reply. That internal image give me a framework to work off of- otherwise I'd be all over the place. You must be a reader of the books, which is awesome. Thanks for taking the time to review. Kper

this is really tight(:
i just have one question...
what is the sony metal construction kit?
Kper
Kper replied Unknown
Thanks for the review. The official name is "Metal:The Ultimate Construction Kit." This is a loops and samples collection from Sony Creative Software for Acid. It's been a great sound series to work with since I have no guitar or drums talent. Highly recommended. Got mine on Amazon. Thanks again.

I really like the fact that you've drawn inspiration from something you read in a book... it says a lot about non-linear thinking. This was really cool, I love the progression with the strings and guitars up to that crescendo. Enjoyed this loads.

Thanks Lisa. I suppose using a sci fi book as inspiration reveals my nerdiness. I'm hoping to keep going with this and try some other songs inspired by people and places in the book. Once a nerd, always a nerd. :-)
I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for taking the time to review.

This was very cool, i`d like the guitars a little wider but that`s just MPO.

It couldnt be said any better than Toddj did it. I loved the setting with the strings and the piano along with the guitars.
And the part with only strings where the guitars come in was pretty awesome.
Bring me more of this!

Splendid! You've perked my interest in 'Foundation.' The planet Trantor sounds intriguing. I liked this arrangement. Very artfully done. The Piano opens this piece up nicely and then the metal hits. It paints a picture of metal beauty. The strings and piano set well with the metal guitars. I like the little break with the strings. It builds up into wonderful climax. It makes me want to fear and respect this planet Trantor.

Thanks for sharing,

Description : I asked Danke if I could add some vocals to his track Future Machine and he kindly agreed and sent me the track. The lyrics are about a soldiers experience in war as he and his trench mates are told to get up and out of their trench and attack the enemy across open fields. I can only imagine the fear, tension and chaos that goes through one's mind at that moment.

Description : I discovered Meshuggah around 2003 and was blown away by the power, complexity and super Heavy sound of their music. Their "Nothing" album marked the switch to 8 string guitars and pushed Heavy Metal into a whole new territory. My track is a variant cover of their song "Nebulous". I have stayed pretty close to the original but added a few dynamic elements of my own. Its loud, its super heavy and way out there...Beyond Nebulous.

Description : My heaviest and most extreme track. Also the first with no synths. Crashing and smashing programmed drums and dirty layers of electric guitar (with a psychedelic, Eastern feel at times). Bass guitar plus a slide resonator guitar solo. No drum loops. Don't play this at your grandmother's funeral. Not unless she was a real headbanger.

Description : Something I slapped together in like an hour or so, I bought a new midi keyboard with a sequencer which made dragging and dropping sounds where I wanted 'em easy, so really this was a test run, I usually write a lot of metal and don't have the time to upload my material but here's a start, this has a techno vibe???? I guess to it. Enjoy.
