Description : It's roots reggae, but probably not what you expect.
It surprised me too. Think twice before you listen once it gets in, it might be too late ;-)

The more you use AI, the less you are as a creator, especially when you are a producer, it doesn't matter what others do, it matters what you do yourself, peace

Not enough reggae here!! We need more. I wouldn't necessarily call it Roots, but that's ok. Got some soul influence maybe. Regardless, this fairly jumps out of my head phones and seriously swings, vocals are awesome, horns sweet, lyrics good. Ticks a lot of boxes for me.

Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciated it. Reggae forever, haha. I created the horns using Native Instruments Valves Pro. Its an amazing tool, but unfortunately pretty damn expensive.

Yes, thats correct. I used AI for some backing vocals because I currently dont have the resources or access to proper choirs. For me, this raises a more fundamental question: at what point do we decide whether something is good or bad, or whether it even counts as music? Is someone who works with Logic or another DAW less of a musician just because they use sample loops, Apple Loops, or sample packs? Those are also rhythms and melodies they didnt design themselves. By that logic, many rappers from earlier generations wouldnt be considered musicians either, even though they sampled vinyl and sang or rapped over it. I dont think its that simple. At the same time, I understand your point. A musician who works with very basic equipment, like an old Tascam multitrack recorder and a microphone and records everything themselves, brings a very direct and hands-on kind of craft to the process. The same question applies to mixing? Relying heavily on automatic analysis tools like iZotope for compressors or EQs doesnt automatically replace experience or a trained ear ? I believe these boundaries are fluid and not as clear-cut as they sometimes seem. And hasnt music also changed in value since streaming services became dominant, where many people only listen for two or three seconds before moving on, even though we all use these platforms in the end? ;-)

I write while I listen...what a great intro man...you really nailed it..and then the reggae comes in and the trip starts. One of the best songs I 've listened here on LM...excellent work, this blending of styles (but with reggae been the main one) is truly artistic. Many many bravos on this one guys!
Best regards, Anthony

Love the brass in this and that little guitar strum flourish at the end is really cute. Great tune.

Description : Music composed by Alex Richard and Laurent Wirz. With: Hanspeter Dubach Lead and rhythm guitars, Alex Richard Bass and rhythm guitars, Claude Barbotte Hammond organ, Joël Perrin Saxophone and me at the drums. The two grooves I used for this one are to find under Loops and Sample, member laurentwirz, reggae. Also an excellent loop from member ebae. I have to say that I asked Michael Mayo before publishing it but I received no answer yet. It was pretty difficult with his acapella because it's a pretty short loop with not a lot of words (for an almost 5 minutes track)! You can ear also some background vocals from Patricia Edwards and I hope it's okay for her.

Description : For those times when you feel pushed to one side, unimportant and all the frustration that comes with those relationship scenarios. This time with loops from Flask,Johnny808,mayrln and Tranfer. I am sure there is at least 20% of Reggae, a little bit of Christmas and some electronic in the mix :-) Have Fun :-)

Description : Richard Shekari and I worked on this project earlier this year. I play bass, guitar, banjo, dobro and also sing on this. Richard added a cool harmonica sound and has an amazing voice. I have learned a lot from him, Richard produced this track.

Description : A quick idea I did in one day, 2 mixes, more an exercise for myself than anything serious. Inspirations were a Peter Tosh docu for the reggae feel, a surfing vid on what a point break was for the vox, the Ace of Bass vid The Sign for the drums and Jaco Pastorius song Crisis for a bit of inspirational bass thrown in. 2 drum loops used and a vocal effect loop for the heck of it in the middle, he. Live percussion, cabasa, guiro and double maraca. Me on git, bass, vox. Here comes Summer!
