Description : UPDATE: After feedback I have uploaded a revised version with the instruments transposed down 3 semi-tones. Is there less dissonance?

Last night I stumbled upon this really great Acapella by JaniMilfsson and I immediately wanted to put a track together! It looks like there were a bunch of other people who did the same too. :)

Her vocals are so sweet and natural sounding that I basically just tried to stay out of the way, and just support what she was doing. I hope you like it.

Overall after the updated version I think it fits a whole lot better!

There are still a few bobs and ends, and what I usually will try to do is even with that guitar "loop" you have as the main theme of the song is rebuild in just the parts that need it, so if you hear that dissonance in a bridge to another verse, you'd rework just that small transition to fit with the key of her voice. You know what I'm getting at? Keep what you've got, and do small adjustments from there.

i think you need to transpose her vocals as well beaqcuse theres some notes that are off, otherwise a pretty decent song, quite melodic. i like it

todd, i think you aced it! the instruments really gel with the vox, and the wordless singing/flute sections are standouts. the track has a gravity that i completely missed in the earlier version. you are an interesting guy to follow and learn from, my friend.

Phew! Thanks for coming back and checking it out, I appreciate it! I didn't wan to give up on it just yet, so figured a small tweak may have gone a long way, I hope at least. I don't know how much I have to teach, but can certainly offer opinions. I am grateful for some of the feedback I have gotten here on Looperman, it has been helpful and I appreciate the community. I try to give thoughtful comments on other people's tracks too, with full disclosure that I'm am (or feel) like a newb. :)

you set yourself a challenge with this pella! since ive heard what you can do after getting some feedback, itd be cool to hear what transposing the backing key would do. regardless, a solid and worthwhile effort keep going, man!

Thanks for the feedback/encouragement. Do you mean trying to transpose the vocals? Wasn't sure what you meant by backing key exactly. But, I have gone back from where I was originally and transposed the instruments down another 3 semi-tones. Does this version seem like her vocals fit a little better with less dissonance? Thanks again!

Interesting song. I liked the stringed instrument you chose at the beginning and thru the song. The flute like instrument was a good choice. Her vocals seem a bit dissonant in context with your music. I did read what you said to centrist about his comment regarding this. Cool idea but it does have an interesting thang going on.

Thank you for your time and feedback Wayne, I appreciate it. So, I tried to look into this a little more. Jani did not give a key with her acapella, so I used Keyfinder which gave me the key of F#. The instruments I wanted to use were in the key of A#minor. So I transposed them to be F# as well to match her key. Is it possible the difference between major and minor are what is causing that disconnect? I don't know enough about music theory obviously. :) And if that was the case, how would I go about fixing it? Or do I just leave this track be and move on, haha. Thanks again!

This is really cool, I think your track on its own is enough, but I just don't know, something about it doesn't quite fit the part with her vocals for me. I don't know if it's the off key notes that Jani is insane at integrating to her vocals or what.

But either way, I really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for taking the time to listen/comment! It could come down to my lack of having a trained ear or being sensitive to "sour" notes (in vocals and or instruments) and putting things together, but there were a few times where something seemed a little "off" to me but I couldn't quite place it or know what to do about it. Working with vocals has been something a little more new to me and for me at least has proven to be a lot more difficult. Thanks again!

Very good! I like the instrumentation. I would like it more if the vocals were a tad more quiet compared to everything else, but overall a very nice arrangement.

Description : Many of you know well that Tumbleweed & Orlando collabs are pretty much well established tradition within LM society by now, and here is the newest example to reinforce that tradition. It's probably the last this year (yet never take it for granted) and I think it has (although not particularly intended) a bit of that seasonal celebrative nature, thus fitting quite well into this festive feel of December. Despite providing it's share of melancholic tones (you can bet who is responsible...haha...) it's a quite happy tune overall...and it doesn't bite, so you're all most welcome to listen and comment !... As always my sincere thanks to Ed !

Description : The spring is in full motion over here and I guess it helped me quite a bit to complete my part of the job on yet another exciting collab with maestro Tumbleweed. Most of our collab works contain at least some aspect which demonstrates something out of ordinary one or another way. This time we got a peculiar combination of mysticism and merciless attacks of soapiness (my bad....haha)....So let's listen to hear whether I'm right or not!....:) As always on such occasions, all my thanks to Ed !

Description : Hi guys another vocal from me, this time Matthias gave his blessing. It's to his beautiful return track chillout vibe. It's a tribute to my closest here on LM. Switch the fucking volume UP, it's a builder. Love the Stokesey and Cyber lines :))) Sorry girls it was a lads love in.
