Rise Of The War Dog - MWRatridge
28th Sep 2014 17:47 - 12 years ago
Description : This is a classically inspired piece I wrote in Logic Pro all using MIDI voicing's and no loops.
I have always loved Mozart's work and it inspired me.
I composed this in February of this year after I hit my left fingers with a table saw blade - healed now. There was a lot of emotion involved when I did this.

Description : Atmospheric, late-night UK garage and liquid drum & bass blending deep rolling basslines, shuffled breakbeats, intimate breathy female vocals and rhythmic DJ turntablism. Chopped vocal samples and hypnotic hooks.

I checked out the youtube link and I can see where you are coming from with the comparison. Good music.
Mark.
It's nicely done. But to criticize your instruments. You could go for a higher quality string ensemble: Session Strings, CineStrings, BML or Symphobia series.
Also, most of the time the brass seems to be shouting quite a lot of the same notes instead of giving an actual melody to listen to.
:)
TY for your compliments and suggestions. I am thinking of revisiting this song and taking your advice.

Comments like this make it all worthwhile. TY.
I will check out Shostakovich but embarrassingly have never heard of him.
Respect.

TY for the kind words. I was considering tweaking the percussion lol.
