Description : Piece I made a few days ago after the Zimmerman verdict, not to take a stand one way or another on the verdict, but to offer some historical perspective. The piece features about 2 minutes of an MLK speech that brings me to tears every time, and then a devastating coda by Bobby Kennedy in 1968. I made this piece to be the foundation of a video (featuring, of course, MLK and Bobby Kennedy) which is posted on YouTube under Citizen Mofo. I lived through all this stuff and I still can't believe the power that MLK had to move an audience, and the absolutely8 tragic loss of his voice in this country through violence. Sometimes it seems we take a step forward only to take 10 back. All I wanted to do here was provide a musical setting for the power of the vocals. I hope you get as much out of the words expressed herein as I do.

No need to speak English to be stirred by MLK's voice and eloquence and your music perfectly wraps it and gives much power to his words .
Kenny's so right : this is a really moving piece of art .
    This is "muse-ic" .
    Thx so much,

"Muse-ic" - I like that. Yes, I can't tell you how inspired I get by MLK's voice and message, and how much I miss it, and how much we all need it right now. I always appreciate your comments, Carole - thank you.

This a really moving piece of art. The music and spoken word are pitched just right to give the effect you were hoping for. It makes you wonder if there is any hope for the human race. Nice job.

Thanks so much, Darkreine. Yeah sometimes I wonder that. But, as a history buff, I'm reminded that the human race always seems to be on the brink of collapse or all-out war, and sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't, and yet we muddle through (at least so far), like the bunch of bumbling idiots that we are. The thing is, it's people like MLK and Bobby Kennedy, the good guys, that help us get through the hard times. These guys were two of the best and their loss was a great loss to our country. There I go, pontificating. Thanks again!

Description : Spoken Word with Rhythm. It's a song about dedication and being there for the one you love. People can easily say what they are going to do but not really mean any of the words. I learned a hard lesson in that today.

Description : I think of this as "melodic talking" rather than "spoken word" or "rap", but I always struggle with what to label my stuff. The music is drum and voice, very basic. Mixed using Audacity (not in the list).
Look back to your forebears, look ahead to your children and their children, and that - that chain of generations - is your river - of life, of DNA, of blood. It's a potent metaphor for me and I keep trying to capture it in a song. What do you think of this one?

Description : Spoken word - melodic talking - redneck hiphop - dubpop - I dunno. This song is part of "The Love Offensive" where I'm writing a bunch of simple, direct songs around the theme of more love, less hate. Just going with the flow of my natural weirdness. Orchestration is 5 loops from rmce, thedarkflamemaster, bosni, rasputin1963 and blackmansta10. Please let me know what you think.
