Chill Out

3.48 MB

Description : After receiving some advice (you guys are awesome. Thanks for all the feedback!) I edited the song and have reposted the MP3. PREVIOUS DESCRIPTION: Title is French for 'Coffee with milk', aka latte. The song, like the album it's from was made with a cafe or restaurant in mind. As such, the name seemed all too fitting. Had alot of fun with the muffled saxophone here (to be honest it muffled itself on accident). The piano is hard to hear at times so headphones are recommended.. or a good pair of speakers. I spent alot of timt trying to decide if the bass was too much. I would love to hear your opinions :D
I plan to come back to this track to polish it, but I need help choosing what needs to be edited.
Thanks for listening! Hope the song creates the chill atmosphere I was aiming for.

I love all your chill out and ambient tracks. I improvise acoustic guitar over the top once I've worked out what key and what scales work best. I'm not good enough to share yet though. Your stuff has a really nice gentle vibe man...keep up the good work.

good vibe,i like the pace, drums sound fine to me however i prefer loud snares and big beats, liking your style Daz

DjDaz replied 30th Nov 2012 - 13 years ago

Thanks mate. I recently re-did this song not with a heavier snare per-se, but with reverb on the snare for my album (get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?1o6b84cn689i5t8)

Or you can just hear the revised song here: http://www.reverbnation.com/dazbeats/songs

Might be an improvement for you. Thanks alot for listening!

Interesting track with a good ambient quiet restaurant feel to it or a drive in the countryside; I found there's even sounds in the beat itself which could be part of the restaurant noise, like the quietish symbal at the end could have been a teaspoon in a mug... I agree though that the snare's a bit too loud ( probably it's the chef dancing )

DjDaz replied 6th Mar 2012 - 14 years ago

Hahahahaha I must tell that chef to quiet down :p This was a very interesting comment to read. Drives you say? I've always wanted to put together a good driving track (perhaps a theme for my next album). To be honest I didn't intend on the percussion to represent the goings on in a cafe, but the melody was certainly aiming to accomplish that background restaurant music feel. I'll get around to the snare soon haha. The more I hear it now, the more I keep seeing the things you mentioned; The spoon, the shakers as a whisker, and even the chef :p Thanks for taking a listen. Peace.

Nice....I'd pull the drums back a little in the mix and add just a touch of reverb to them.

DjDaz replied 4th Mar 2012 - 14 years ago

Again, I think this idea is fitting. As you say, I should add a 'touch' of reverb. On my headphones the drums sounded fine, but listening to it on my speakers, I agree the snare overshadows the other instruments a tad. Again, thanks for your ideas. I don't know why I didnt think of reverb before :p

scenic, very warm and cool - really dig the arrangement

DjDaz replied 4th Mar 2012 - 14 years ago

Awesome! I was hoping this track would come across as warm and chill (ignoring the oxymoron in that statement). Glad you like it! Thanks for the feedback!

love the sax kinda huanting. love the track, smooth puts you in a chill mood. a relaxing happy feel.

DjDaz replied 4th Mar 2012 - 14 years ago

Haunting? Wasn't expecting that reaction. Interesting to hear. It's good to hear that others can hear what I was hoping to accomplish; happy and relaxing. It's not easy making a song sound happy in a minor key :p Thanks alot for your input man. Glad you enjoyed my tune.
