Description : Using the Bass Station and Arturia Keylab to experiment with different patterns of bass notes for trance tracks (rather than just doing a rolling bass like always). I used Softube saturation on this loop once recorded. The notes are all F so you can use it with major or minor scale.

Description : Not all psytrance basslines have to be rolling. This one is kinda stabby and it grooves really well with a tight kick drum loop. Made with Novation Bass Station II. You can chop out one note (they are all C#) to make a rolling bassline (or alternative) as well - it's always good when tracks switch up the bass pattern!

Description : MC-505 drum machine pattern with a summery vibe. It is summer down here in Australia btw. 42 degrees today!

Description : MC-505 just jamming around with perc and snare sounds. Lots of customisable sounds in the old beast. Still my favourite drum machine. All FX are internal to the 505; Reason was just a tape recorder in this instance.

Description : The sound of a hyperactive kid on a paint tin - or just my 606 with some found sounds. Used a slight phasing effect on the loop for extra movement.

Description : Just building some new 808 kits in Kong and came up with this as I was checking the sounds. Seems funky so I saved it.

Description : Multiple distorted bass parts played together

Description : I've gone way back to the old school today, sampling my Yamaha V50 FM synth from the 80s, then chopping up sequences from it in Mimic, then adding FX like space delay, distortion and chorus to the chops to add a bit of modern flavour. These loops can easily be re-chopped in your own sampler and the chops will stay in key.

Description : Got a new tool for making risers which is pretty cool (UJAM Boost) so I'm making one musical riser for each note on the keyboard. In tune risers sound great in EDM and sometimes much nicer than generic white-noise sweeps.

Description : Typically phat Roland bass, sidechained to a 4x4 kick. Made with the JE-8086. Add your own groovy beat and this bassline sound very funky and rattles the subwoofer nicely. Enjoy ;)

Description : All trance all night with the JE-8086. No other FX required when using this beast of a synth!
