on I hope Youre Alright by ValveDriver
A very dark tune indeed. Like a Gothic Wellness check with hints of darkwave and a Tool like Percussion feel. When I listen to music It can trigger me to think of colors (a very mild form of synesthesia). In this case shades of grey and some deep blues. The melody line at the end triggered a tiny bright red feel, and the piano chops at the end were very ominous. This is truly a Valve driver tune. Good work.

Synesthesia. That sounds interesting. I kind of wish I had it.
It must make things much more interesting.

I think that's the first time I've heard that my music has hints of Tool in it. I take that as a compliment.

Thank you, sir, for stopping by! Be safe up there, mister.

Take care.

Intense but very cool. I like the premise and the sax treatments lead the listener to feel the anticipation of the arrival. well done.

on THE CHOKE - VIGIL live in Helsinki by thechockehold
Yes, that's brilliant mate.

the Atonality along with that syncopated drum is fantastic. Are you familiar with the pianist Mike Garson? He used to work with Bowie. This Piano work reminds me of Mike's work on the album ¨Outside¨.

on funky love by terryjmhitsong
I hear the Level 42 influence on the chord changes on this one mate. Really nice arrangement. I love the detailed percussion which is something that lacks in many others tunes. The mixing is sublime as well as the instrument placement. You just need Mark King singing over this one ;-) Tres Bien! Your brother is killing it on lead. His feel is so in the pocket. I also love how the organ is mixed in the right place in the back of the mix. 10 out of 10.

on in the heart of heaven by terryjmhitsong
Melancholy and soulful. Awesome tune. I´m getting a simply red feeling with a Mark Knopfler slide guitar feel. Beautiful mix !

terryjmhitsong replied 20th Oct 2020 - 5 years ago
thx man.....yes i noticed too their was a simply red thing goin on too...made me go back and listen to that track.....that being said it probably sounds like a lot of tracks....thx for the mix review....its a new mix which is good news...i think it helps thay my brother gave me new tools.....its so painfull to listen to old stuff just becuase of mixes.....on another note...i wanna do a level42 type thing....i can remember back in the day listening to that first album none stop for a year and thinking this is just ahead of its time and just way over my head to try somethin like that....and still is ....but you did it ...and in your own way....you have inspired me.....cheers cru

Awesome work on this one mate. Very good mix and FX on the guitars. The chorus also mixes in nice, the best sound so far I think. The spoken word style in the begining reminded me of an old chicago artist from the late nineties.

on THE CHOKE - Royal Blood Boxing Club DEMO by thechockehold
Nice and dark, the triplets from the double bassed drums are notable. And the pure dissonance in the arrangement add to the darkness as well as gearing towards the bassier side of arranging. Well done composition.

thechockehold replied 13th Oct 2020 - 5 years ago
Thank you mr. Crocethus, sir. Well there is some progress in recording upright bass aspect, unlike my english (still). We used plastic beaters on kick drum for this, suuuuuper happy with kick sound. Thanks again!

on MIGOS - T-SHIRT FWLiX FLIP by FWLiX
Trap isn´t my forté by I do know a bit about this overdone genre. And this has some good arranging going on. I like the fills U use. Clean mix and good instrument choices. As Valve suggests I am also a fan of the multi layered percussion and kick methods. I would say the kick is probably the weakest point on the song but everything else is quite nice. good luck mate.

on Instrumental 1 - A Sunny Day by BaoBou
So The Production is improving alot. I might sit the distorted guitar just slightly back in the mix and add a small delay to create even more space. (not the strumming ry though, thats perfect) but thats a personal preference. I would also use a compressor on the distorted guitar as well like something from Fab (Saturn) to give it some clarity and yet keep that lovely fuzz. Organ is sublime. As I said earlier the Bass is perfect, Its such a clean slap sound. So to answer your question, yes its getting better mate!
Cheers
