Now this is funky!
Love everything! Special mention: the funky clav riff that goes through all the song, the guitars, sparse but very effective, the wise usage of vocals.
Good!
Domenico
PS: please don't tell me that the funky week is over... I want more of these!
Hi Mr Wolfe how are you, glad you are enjoying the track I don't usually play with the music side of things but it was fun making this, ha ha well maybe we should make it the funk month then!!! My loop range is pretty limited and I'm not professional so I don't know what I can come up with but I'll start working on something.
Brilliant! Simply excellent!
The bass work is outstanding... and the song overall is simply excellent.
Enjoyed from the beginning to the end.
Thanks!
Domenico
PS: by the way... an italian band did a tribute song to this character in 1989: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvR8dBIjaFs
I used to cover this with one of my bands and it was hard to stay serious while playing this...
Hey Domenico..thanks man!..glad you enjoyed the tune....I really liked the tune in that link, unfortunately I don't understand Italian, but I just know it's funny! lol..once again your review is very much appreciated!...cheers Dave :)
And Soothy it is!
Good work Emarel. Even if there is no real "melody" the song builds a good atmosphere and it is relaxing.
I think this is a great ambient song.
Good work.
Domenico
PS: and please feel free but don't feel forced to "check out my tunes", I just comment what I hear because I like sharing my thoughts with all the guys round here in looperman... lots of good stuff to be found on this pages!
Not bad man!
I like this "bare sounds" approach.
Very dry and direct arrangement for a good song, with a bit of sadness.
I wish you to write the second chapter of the song soon
Take care,
Domenico
Good song!
Love that bass drum sound in the first part, you really feel the song breathing. Great!
I have to agree with Danke on the toms fills: they don't really fit the rest of the song.
Very chilly and relaxing. Well done.
Domenico
Glad that I got you wondering!! Sorry about the ending, the track should be 5.07, but when I cut it, the mp3 always comes out 4.57, I will keep trying.
Very Funky my friend. Thank you for your kind words. I wouldn't say it is perfect as I am still working on getting my Mastering right. I hope I am getting there.
Hi Stefano,
Wonderful track! Love the organ, very well played and "Lordesque" (even if the passage around 1:24 reminds me a lot of Mr. Tony Banks preparing his supper)
The double-bass drums are powerful and solid.
Decisamente niente male!
Grazie!
Domenico
PS: I have to agree with R01D, you have some clipping here and there, but the song is really enjoyable.
Wonderful guitar.
The flute solo is outstanding.
The drums are simply "perfect": tight and perfectly fitting.
Domenico
PS: If I have to pick out something that can be improved, maybe the overall mixing: the rythm guitar is a bit too-dry, and the guitar solo as well could benefit from some ambience, to increase the cohesion with the drum part, which sounds very "live".
But guyz, don't get me wrong: this song is really great!
(infact it's already a fav of mines)
Great track Kenny!
I love the "psychedelic" touch you added to the blues riff.
Actually I was expecting to hear your voice on this: I think you should go further and add some "deep & bluesy" vocal parts to make it even more interesting!
Good work man!
Domenico
Bonnie you have a wonderful voice.
And not only this, you have also a definite and unique style.
I wish you a lot of success, you for sure deserve it.
Domenico
Totally dig it!
We have a superb song here!
Love the way your music works with Patricia's wonderful voice. The result is very convincing.
Like the guitar solo.
I find the guitar work a bit "un-tidy" but this gives the song a good live feeling.
Regarding the mix, I think TopVega was referring to the guitar melody before 0:35 : it is very hard to hear it and it may be interesting to have it pushed louder a bit (maybe, you are the only one who can answer to this).
That said, the mix is good man: if you really want to "improve" it you may try to have the drums sounding a bit less extreme (light eq can help you here) and maybe the distorted guitars sounding tighter.
But I am not sure the song needs it: it is beautiful as it is.
Domenico
PS: sorry for the long comment, but I listened this three times in a row and each time I added something.
Hi Domenico
Really pleased about your comment ! Thanks a lot.
No need to say sorry. Helpful & concrete comments need some more lines. And your comment is very useful. I will try to modify the mix accordingly.
Regarding the 'quite' guitar until 0:39... I don't want to go like a bull at a gate and directly start with a 'solo' guitar part. But maybe a bit more Volume is ok. Let's try.
Instant classic! A masterpiece!
Wonderful voice with combined with a very talented musician.
I may already have told you, I simply love the way your friend plays the guitar.
I have started looking for your WYN album.
Take care, Domenico
Yeah Domenico, you're right . Paul's an awesome guitarist and composer . We worked together for about ten years so at the time this track was made, we knew each other very well musically speaking .
I'm very deeply touched by your words and thank you for us both .
Wow, you drew a big smile on my face ! Thanks a lot my friend .
I'll take care, promise . And please, do the same .

You are right, I was not clear enough...
Let me explain myself...
I was referring to the way you composed your "musical parts" and I used the word broken referring to how the sound is "pulsing": instead of building a compact sound, you have a "pulsing" one. One chord is played by one instrument, then pause and the next chord is played by another one (synth / bass note on piano / piano-chord / synth ... or something like this)
I really like the way you have done this: I try to do it from time to time and I enjoyed a lot hearing how you used this idea to build your song.

Good.
I did not follow the lyric 100% but I really appreciate how they "flow": Very natural and clear. Good.
The chorus part with the "farsettto-like" is well balanced.
You sound convincing and not "forced. Good.
The arrangement is simple but builds a good background for your vocal part. Good.
The sound of drums and guitar could be improved.
Specially I would like to have a richer guitar.
Room for improvement.
Overall: good job!
