Pretty 'in your face' groove and tone. Tough to stay under the speed limit if driving. Like another comment, I'd look for a spot to take down and bring it back....maybe even up a whole step.
Thanks for the great comments - I really appreciate them. It was such a great acapella I felt I had to put a track together using it. What fun. Glad you enjoyed it.
First off....all the basics are there as far as pulling a listener in. NEeds another level, someplace for the killing blow to fall. NOTE: I'm not familiar with the genre, so if my comment is not applicable then ooops! As far as the sounds, I agree the kick needs some power in order to deliver the punch you're going for. Now having said that....I am the king of 'mixing and moving on'...so as I say, not as I do. Keep up the good work. TK
I listened to and loved this tune several times before I had review priveledges...and then I forgot to go back, Thanks NU for taking me back there. Beautiful is the only, and most appropriate word. TK
Really cool tune. I like the thing going on with the panning...of course the fretless really brings the gel to the track. Who played bass on DAvid Gimour's About Face album???can't recall but the bass feels like something from that era,,,,,and that's a real good thing. I too thought the 12 string was a little thin in spots, but that's just on one listen. Won't be the last though. TK
MM4E..this is a great song, and it's obviously a great song. For sure, real instruments are gonna inject some more life into the track. I agree with all the other posters about the mix/mastering. Try this....not to change the song, but learn more about the song you have: take it from BIG to small. You can hear how/where to power up an instrument or a section alot easier when the track is small and quiet to begin with. For me, when a track is already big and intense I fine it hard to hear where the dynamics are making a difference. It's an experiment that will payoff. Once you find tha places where the intensity needs to ramp up in the quiet version, you can then go back to addressing your existing version. TK
This is great! What a vibe. I hear the Al J thing, but I think that might be more from the timbre of your voice. My ears are tellin me this is what you would have if Donny Hathaway came back long enough to sit-in with Soulive!! Sweet! Seriously, you're phrasing is very DH and the groove is totally early SOulive. Really looking forward to the finished tune.
Hey Tony! Thanks so much for checking out my track. I am speechless. Al J keeps coming up in comments, and now Donny Hathaway! I don't hear it, but I totally accept it! I am embarrassed because I'm not familiar with Soulive, but will definitely Google. AL J, and Donny H on the other hand I am familiar with. I've not listened to much of Donny's material really, but I am a big fan of AL's.
GReat feel track. There's something very Gillan-esque to the vocal delivery that I find so nice. Great timing on the vocal and nice instrumentation all around. TK
This is cool. I like it when a song emotes the song's title and this one does. I agree with earlier review about the guitar tone in the first section....really sweet! TK
This is beautiful song. GReat performaces all around. Production is very even. Thought I heard a little Ernie Isley in the lead tone for a sec....WAY COOL. GReat vocal and lyric...I guess I'm gushing now, I'll just stop. TK
Thank you Tony so much for your appreciation. Forgive me for not getting back to you sooner. Allen and Dylan are very talented and are such a pleasure to work with.
I am so blessed to be a part of this musical community.
WOW! That was pretty intense....stayed interesting, and really realy driving. Can't comment on the mix and technique and so forth...I am so old school I bore myself!

And yes, everytime I play that simple but dark intro it takes me to another place, don't know why but it does.
