Emily, it's great to hear some new stuff from you, especially something cinematic. I think you may have discovered your true calling. While you are adept at other genres, you have a real feel for this one. The song has great dynamics and a real sense of emotion....

It really is a work of art, professional sounding and about as good as anything I've heard in the cinema in a while.

Bravo, Maestro Profplum

I will stand and applaud now.

Mickey, you nailed this one. I absolutely love your keyboard work. Great bassline on this one as well. I agree with the progressions being a match made in heaven.

Another sterling effort from you. I would have to believe that Stephanie has to be thrilled with this. I know I would be.

Bravo maestro. You are rapidly becoming one of my favorite piano players :) Hope all is well.

I've heard this great style before, in another life on Looperman so I think Jamie might have landed on something....if so, welcome back.

If not, the comparison is a huge compliment because Baracasa was/is one of the best in the business :)

Another beautiful song, definitely one for the charts. Hope all is well. Welcome to the Loop Ms. Bopperman ;)

Like Dan, I really enjoyed the peace and tranquility on this one. The best music is that which comes from an emotional place and the emotion in this piece is palpable.

Beautifully constructed and performed with outstanding progressions and very nice dynamics. Outstanding effort. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Jamie, I forget how good you are on the keys :)

Loved the fusion feel on this one, some of your synth work was like listening to a modern day Steely Dan.

Another outstanding effort and a true joy to listen to. Hope all is well.

on Pages of my past featuring Farisha Haque by RichieWinn
There are a few people on here who set an extremely high example for the rest of us, and you are at the top of that list.

This one is flawless, from start to finish. I am continually amazed at your versatility, prowess, and talent as a songwriter, composer, musician and engineer. Farisha is a huge talent as well. When you put the two of you together it is an absolute force of nature.

I think it might be time to retire that pella, cause nobody is going to come close to this one :) Thanks for the download as well. Beautiful work, Richie, absolutely beautiful.

Hi Bear

Always good to hear from you and thank you so much for the comments. I guess every time I am in the studio putting a track together I feel a massive responsibility to the vocal tracks (in this case the huge talent that is Farisha) and attempt to put the best I possibly can together to support it. Yes, this bar I seem to keep setting is my own and the challenge to keep it as high as I can one I enjoy immensely.

I am knocked out with your comments here - thank you. Hope all is well with you.

Regards

I guarantee you I would be very proud of this effort. You should be too. And the break is sheer genius :)

on Music Is My Life by DrvanLansberg
Hey Doc,

This one is chilled to perfection. I really enjoyed this musical journey. Like you said, the Rhodes has the ability to really establish a mood. You took full advantage of that, and your use of the right percussion at the right time shows a great command of this genre.

I loved everything about this one (that synth work is special stuff), outstanding mix as well. You treated the vox with a great deal of respect in the mix. The break was a nice use of the guitar loop :) The whole piece flowed like a gentle river.......

Absolutely a must listen and thanks for the download!!! I will enjoy it over and over again. Hope all is well.

Hey Bear,

Usually my beer is the only thing in this house which is chilled to perfection! Meaning, I am not easilly satisfied by the result of a few weeks' work. Maybe you know what I'm talking about, listening to your tracks and finding little mistakes over and over again... Your comment (and for that, all of these comments) help me put my own music in the right context. Thanks for that1

That synth (I assume you mean the lead) is in fact a simple synth voice, with some extra EQ on 1-2 kHz on two different equalizers, a slight side chain compression and a rather heavy phaser, slightly mixed. On the second part (from 2:09) I obviously added a distorion. At 3:40 I doubled the lead at another frequecy which gave it the distinct sound in that part. I'm quite happy with the result.

The break, in my opinion, is the most important part in any track, since it gets you focussed again. I am very happy with the guitar of course and how it fitted in the overall sound. Many thanks again (also for the recommendation :-)).

Doc

The gentle river... Nice title for a track...

Hey Richie,

Fabulous work here, absolutely top shelf material. You have this marvelous way of coaxing every last ounce out of Patricia's vocals.....amazing work from your instrumentation to your engineering. This one is truly a work of art and an absolute pleasure to listen to.

I'm excited for the CD release. Put me down for a copy as soon as it drops. Two of my favorite artists on the same CD....it doesn't get any better than that :)

Beautiful work, both of you. I hope all is well.

Hey Bear

It's always good to have you stop by and post some comments. Working with Patricia's vocals gives me a great platform to construct a song from. Great timbre, amazing inflexions, soulful, tasteful and intelligent lyrics. It puts enormous pressure on me trying to do justice to it all and I'm so happy to have such great compliments from you. I have to say I enjoy the challenge immensely!

Album release imminent - I'll keep you posted. Thanks for your support.

Outstanding work here....the mix is especially tasty. I absolutely love everything about this one....kind of a modern day Pink Floyd. All you are missing is the guitar.....maybe Ed (Tumbleweed) could throw some Strat work on this one and you guys could be the new Pink Floyd.

Seriously though, this is extremely well done.

Bravo.

My friend, just a quick update. The mp3 was flawless, so after some head scratching, I figured out there is something going on with my flash player....

So, I uninstalled and installed an earlier version of Flash and now things are crystal clear here on Looperman :)

My bad and sorry for making you go back and search for something that wasn't there. It sounds great through my headphones. Next time I'll make sure I listen to the download first before reviewing. I hope all is well.

It's all good my friend, please dont feel you put me through a listening nightmare,i just opened up my magix, opened up my Sunset to Sunrise project and pressed play!.

It was that easy, but if i had the ability to use my FL or Reason which i dont lol, then i would not have known where to start as it took me 20 mins to find the play button!

It's all good my man!

Beautiful work my friend, a great way to begin my day. A cup of great coffee and this wonderful song playing in the background....doesn't get much better than this.

On my second listen now and I hear some tiny clicks in spots (not trying to nit pick) and I'm not sure if they are on my end, an issue with compression on your upload, or possibly clicking where you joined loops in spots. If it is an issue with joining loops, all you have to do is crossfade them and you will eliminate the clicks.

Again, I love this and I hope you don't think I'm nit picking. I'm going to download it and see if it might be my system causing problems. Hope all is well.

There is nothing better than listening to REAL instruments being PLAYED by people with TALENT. While many of the "computer playing musicians" fail to realize this, your work here graphically illustrates why live instrumentation is so important.

This is beautiful on many different levels, food for the soul and the mind. A tip of the hat to you and Detleft for an amazing collaboration. Keep playing those instruments guys.

And keep the hits coming.

Hey Bear...thanks man!..I know there's heaps of people playing instruments and it's never going to go out of style, but sometimes around this neck of the woods one does wonder sometimes!lol.....how anyone can can claim to create music without playing an instrument has always perplexed me,but we live in strange times with even stranger people! ....cheers mate, always great to hear from you.

Love that piano....gives things a Coldplay feel, then when the vox drops it moves into Heart mode. I have to say you flat nailed it my friend.

While this one may sound retro, it would fit well on the radio today. Good music is timeless and has its place, no matter what decade it may be, and this is really good music!!!

Outstanding mix....everything is sitting nicely where it belongs.

I spent many years playing in an orchestra, and had an opportunity to play a lot of great music.

This piece would have fit in quite nicely - it is high quality work.

I love the dynamics in this, and the use of so many different instruments. It shows you have a real grasp of complex arrangements.

The mix is really nice as well.

I'm not sure if this is a genre you normally work in, but it definitely is a genre in which you excel. Absolutely brilliant work.
