I think what impresses me the most about your work is that you are fearless. You can move seamlessly through just about any genre and make it look effortless. Like the others, it would be great to hear your amazing voice on this one, but as an instrumental it stands on its own quite nicely.
No critique here. Only respect. I hope all is well.
*humbly bows head
you are far too kind, bear. i am anything but fearless ((more agoraphobic and perpetually anxious, actually lol))...i just love music of all kinds and my grandiose nature makes me want to write it all, preferably well.
if i had your musical talent and ability to play, however, i would be polishing one of my many grammys right now.
thanks again, friend...your listen and kind words are greatly appreciated :)
This is like one of those big old luxury cars...builds nicely until it reaches the speed you want and then, oh man, is it good!!!
There are some magical moments in this one, especially around the 2:50 mark on. I loved everything about this one from the vocals to the pads to the nice playful arpeggios.
Freaking awesome work and definitely a must listen for people. Well done! I hope all is well.
Nelson, this is BADAZZ from start to finish. This one got my motor running this morning....my motor, my neighbors' motors, their neighbors' motors, hahaha. Nothing better than to have it cranked to 11!
Not sure what old JWSawgrass is smoking, but most people could only wish they could produce music this good.
I think you could compose in any genre, and the end result would be outstanding. Nothing to critique here (other than wanting it to be a bit longer). I liked everything about this one and could see this in a video game, or on the big screen.
Really, really nice work. I hope you and your family have a great holiday season.
There is a reason you have a picture of yourself playing the bass.....YOU CAN FLAT PLAY THE BASS!!!! hahaha, seriously great stuff my friend. Nobody does it better. Hope you and the family have a wonderful holiday season.
Bear, Bear, Bear...thanking you.
if the only criticism you could come up with was it needs to be longer, i am a happy girl ((btw: this is just the demo...the album cut is about a minute forty longer)).
really appreciate the listen and review...so glad this song is getting good reviews. its now one of my favorites.
Exceptionally well done. The fact it has 14 downloads and only two comments is a bit troubling.....but that seems to be the nature of the Loop as of late.
Anyway, if they like it enough to download, then I guess that means they liked it a lot, and so did I. Really well constructed, well mixed, and just a terrific production. You have skills young Jedi :)
Thank you again for your very kind and much appreciated comments.
Since I found looperman a few months ago I have learned an awful lot but am still on a steep learning curve, so to get comments like these I am immensely grateful for and it can only give me more confidence in what I am doing.
I don't know much about hip hop, but I do think this is a really unique approach....orchestral hip hop, pretty cool. I know a lot of beats use strings, or brass, but they don't take things to the level you have.
I think this shows real innovation and I too would love to hear someone put a few verses over it. Really well done.
Hey Tim, outstanding effort here. I'm not sure many people realize how difficult it is to "build" a song around a pella. It is even more difficult to develop one that is as seamless as this. When it sounds like the vocals were written to fit the music, you know you have done your job and done it well.
Absolutely flawless. Mix is spot on, and the chord progressions are fantastic. This one could be playing on the radio. I enjoyed the listen.
Hope all is well and that you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.
You are such an immensely revered and respected person and musician here that I am honoured that you have taken the trouble to listen to and comment on one of my tracks. I am still very much in a learning stage, both for playing instruments and for recording and processing them but enjoying it greatly.
I thank you very much and wish you and your family a fantastic Christmas also.
Hey John, seems a shame to have 22 downloads and not one single comment, so I'll simply say beautiful work. This is absolutely gorgeous in every way possible. And the letter, well it is as heartfelt as the music.
On behalf of all of those who downloaded your track, I'll say thanks for sharing. Maybe the next person to download could say thank you as well.
While the electronic and hip hop genres outnumber the rest by 10 to 1 here, it's nice to have a change of pace as well.
Really nice tune, good vocals, excellent guitar work. Nothing to hang your head about.....be proud of this one. I look forward to more from you. Welcome to the Loop.
I think a lot of those rodeo guys would probably listen to your music and say "Oh what it must be like to do something so exhilarating day in and day out." You have mad skills JT.
Been a long time since I have seen your name. I remember you left Lafango a long time ago. It was a decent place and we all got lots of hits, but they kept making too many changes, and had problems with uploads, etc. I am still on there, but just to post songs there.
I thank you for your nice comments. I haven't heard of Ed King or Billy Gibbons before. I haven't listened to that much music really in quite awhile. But they must be good artist then. I'll look them up and give them each a listen.
I am doing OK here...as I mentioned in my note to Dave below, I got bored with retirement and went back to work part time. Music will be in my life until I can't physically play any more. Then I suppose I will have a big guitar sale. ha ha
Again, nice to hear from you, and I will give a listen to see what you have up on your page.
Randy
oh man thank you very much for the comment. took me a while to get back at this comment. i love love love ur loops, they inspire me to the max. i even wanted to a video of how i did the beat but i got too lazy. but i will surely do it when i get my studio back together once again.
I am still looking for one to deliver some tight lines on this track. i am still looking for another killer loop from u.
I spent some time cruising some of the great blues clubs in the southern US, and this tune takes me back to those days. I would sit, have a beer or three and just listen to the great music.
OUTSTANDING guitar work and a really nice arrangement with Patricia's vocals.
Nothing better than the blues! And this tune shows exactly why. Put a huge smile on my face. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.
You make me shy Bear, don't say such kind things ..
The lyrical voice should have been worked on better but I haven't got the right technical stuff :(
Every song I make is a way to clean up my heart and exorcise all the pain inside . I'm singing for everyone who's got a few minutes to waste and my voice is only a filter for what overwhelms my heart when I think of this guy in particular ...
He's my soul and spirit, I'm his voice only .
You don't know how much you moved me with your words about transcending language ... ! Love does it and is the air I breathe . I'm very deeply touched .
Sorry for the blabla,
Merci de tout mon coeur, Bear,
Bises
Very nice start Doc. It has that Earth, Wind and Fire feel to it. All it needs is some vocals over the top of it and I think you have a hit on your hands.
I thought Joe and Fila were about the only two on here who produced great funk, but it is obvious you are right up there with the best of them.
Thanks so much shortbus , really honored with your comment , but let's say i ve just posted two funky tracks , i will need few tracks more to compete with these guys....
This one is stellar Jamie.....like having Oscar Peterson and George Benson in the same studio and maybe Freddy Gruber on percussion, and Dave Holland on bass :) This song is that good!!!!
I absolutely loved it. A tip of the hat to two of Looperman's finest.
Man, you just keep cranking out the hits. I think you can produce great music no matter what the genre, but alt rock seems to be an arena that you really take things to a whole new level.
This one could easily be playing on the radio today all over the world. It's current sounding, relevant and exactly what the doctor ordered.
Take a bow my friend. Like John said this one is a ten out of ten. Loved that guitar solo :) Well done brother. I hope all is well.
Thanks, man. I'm really glad that you liked it. You always seem to relay the best comments ever. I hope sooner or later we would have the priviledge to work together on something. As always, thank you. I hope you are enjoying your time with your family.
Outstanding job on this one. Your dynamics are really special, and they add so much to the overall feeling of this piece. There is a lot going on here, yet you managed to place everything perfectly in the mix. It all works so well.
I love cinematic music and this piece is a great illustration of why I love it so much. This one is ready for film my friend.
Doc, this is really, really well done. If this is your first foray into down-tempo, and the result is this good, perhaps you should consider doing more :)
There is nothing to critique here, simply an amazing soundscape that blends the wonderful sax of Slap Johnson and the spoken words of Obama, with these wonderful synth sounds you created. Flawless!!
Many, many thanks for your beautiful comments. I am not sure however if I will be doning more stuff on 88 bpm :-).
You know, sometimes everything just falls in the right place. That's at least what I experienced producing this track. And of course with help of Slap, Obama and the synths :-).
I will print your comment and hang it over my bed!

My dad always told me you can't sing or play the blues unless you've been there. The emotion comes through on this one.
My only complaint is I would have loved to hear another 2 or 3 minutes, but I'm just being greedy.
Beautiful work by a really, really talented lady. I hope you have a great holiday season.
