on Plastic by visionarysoundsystem
There are times when stretching some of those old rules a bit really works...like you have done here Vis...I think electronic genres generally lend themselves a bit more to the use of different techniques....I used to focus on panning drum & cymbal stuff (other than the kick & snare) but the last couple of years (I`ve been using loops most of the time) I have resorted to putting just a touch of mid-side processing on the drum mix (CM Stereoizer has a perfect preset for it)....Anyway....This is top class House....You`ve been keeping the bar really high on the genre....much enjoyed...Ed

Hey Ed, hope you are well my friend? Thanx for such a positive & kind review. I really appreciate it. I'm glad you got my idea about panning the percussive sounds. I have since remixed this track and not been quite so extreme on the panning, as suggested by Rouge, and it sounds ok as well. Anyways thanx for taking time to stop by, listen & review.

Oh yes....nice to hear this kind of thoughtful composing go into the music...aptly titled and definitely paints the mind pictures for the journey....really well done...and just a little tweak on the ending would complete the destination......Ed

on Karma by BunnieRabbit
As I was listening to that intro I was thinking...This is as close as I have heard any vocalist come to sounding like Adele...I hadn`t caught that listening to your other tracks...and have you noticed that a lot of Adele`s other music is really basic piano, bass & drums type accompaniment...anyway..must say you are off to one very fine start...If its not quite finished yet I`ll look forward to the final...Ed

Well that's a great compliment :) She's definitely got a unique sound! And yes, this is only the beginning, looking forward to expressing it various ways. Thank you for your thoughts!
Cheers!

on Sensuality by crucethus
This one is a tonic for the ears crucethus...beautiful big fat pad sounds, thoutghtful composing and some tasty chord progs...I like the bass sounds...a little like a fretless, with lots of harmonics..the melody is almost implied rather than in your face kind of stuff..and my ears & speakers both really like the mix....Superb bit of musical art my friend...and very much enjoyed over my way tonight....Ed

Thank you for those accolades. I have no formal training playing piano or keyboards. I was just an obsessed teen with synths and keyboards that I am completely self taught. So my style of playing is more in line with how a guitarist thinks in terms of riffs. I also wanted to play like a metal guitarist so I have some older tunes where I distort my keys and try to play wicked solos with a wah wah pedal. With songs like this I tried to bring emotion in an almost restrained method. I like your notes on the melody being implied, I think that describes it in a way for years I couldn't say. I have another example of this style but a more Jazz chord structured song.

Thanks Ed! It means a lot. I know places like that, even here in Denmark. I jam there sometimes. I actually had a blast talking to a scary looking guy with one arm, that was sorry he couldn't play guitar, but enjoyed playing the harp instead. About the lessons? I don't know about that, but still cool of you to say!

on 200 seconds glockenspiel trial by deciBel
Behnam...your music is unique...and that makes it special for those of who enjoy creative ideas...the glock and acoustic guitar really makes a good combination...and I know you call the tune simple...however...it is one of those little tunes that sticks in your mind...and you find yourself humming along after it is done....enjoyed it a lot...Keep on doing it your own way Behnam.....Ed

on The Best Feeling by Planetjazzbass
geez....I wish we had some kind of notice of fav uploads for us slackers who dont get much listening time on the loop...but dm...its good to be able to listen to this kind of music on our little site here....This kind of innovation doesn`t hit the radios (its too good)...has too much imagination and evidence of talent & thinking composing...and while its entirely different...it reminds me that the experiences & talented artists that I love who now have made enough swag are doing their real music (and its even better)..they`re not on the radio any more either....Great stuff Dave...dont have enough words to describe...but its uplifting....got energy...got feel...just good....Keep on doing it...Ed

Hey Ed..thanks man!...the only radio play Zappo or I will ever get is probably as background muzak in an insane asylum! lol....the weird thing is I've heard Jimi Hendrix and the Doors playing in my local supermarket and thought Jeez now even that stuff is regarded as muzak! lol
cheers mate Dave :)

on Mambazo Africa by Proxy
I think the North African drumming first caught my attention when I discovered Loreena McKinnett`s music...Years ago we went to see "The Blue Nile" at the Imax here and I could just have closed my eyes (in spite of the great visuals) and listened to the music....This is a great track Proxy...quite minimal but with everything it needs to take the trip....much enjoyed......Ed

Well...I certainly have no special knowledge of classical vocalists Janis71...but I know a when song is performed with such wonderful talent and feeling...as you do it here. I have listened to and enjoyed many professional singers (though not as many in classical performances) but you prove here what I have oftens felt....that some of the best vocalists on our little planet are those undiscovered gems who make no claims to fame...but just shine like a light with their own talent.....We are fortunate to have these little music communities that allow us to hear what you do...Bravo....I am a fan........Ed
