There are times when stretching some of those old rules a bit really works...like you have done here Vis...I think electronic genres generally lend themselves a bit more to the use of different techniques....I used to focus on panning drum & cymbal stuff (other than the kick & snare) but the last couple of years (I`ve been using loops most of the time) I have resorted to putting just a touch of mid-side processing on the drum mix (CM Stereoizer has a perfect preset for it)....Anyway....This is top class House....You`ve been keeping the bar really high on the genre....much enjoyed...Ed
Hey Ed, hope you are well my friend? Thanx for such a positive & kind review. I really appreciate it. I'm glad you got my idea about panning the percussive sounds. I have since remixed this track and not been quite so extreme on the panning, as suggested by Rouge, and it sounds ok as well. Anyways thanx for taking time to stop by, listen & review.
Vis . . . .
Oh yes....nice to hear this kind of thoughtful composing go into the music...aptly titled and definitely paints the mind pictures for the journey....really well done...and just a little tweak on the ending would complete the destination......Ed
Thanks ED for taking the time to listen and comment i am glad i took you on a journey and will fix the ending in due time XD Thank you and have a good day.
As I was listening to that intro I was thinking...This is as close as I have heard any vocalist come to sounding like Adele...I hadn`t caught that listening to your other tracks...and have you noticed that a lot of Adele`s other music is really basic piano, bass & drums type accompaniment...anyway..must say you are off to one very fine start...If its not quite finished yet I`ll look forward to the final...Ed
Well that's a great compliment :) She's definitely got a unique sound! And yes, this is only the beginning, looking forward to expressing it various ways. Thank you for your thoughts!
Cheers!
This one is a tonic for the ears crucethus...beautiful big fat pad sounds, thoutghtful composing and some tasty chord progs...I like the bass sounds...a little like a fretless, with lots of harmonics..the melody is almost implied rather than in your face kind of stuff..and my ears & speakers both really like the mix....Superb bit of musical art my friend...and very much enjoyed over my way tonight....Ed
Thank you for those accolades. I have no formal training playing piano or keyboards. I was just an obsessed teen with synths and keyboards that I am completely self taught. So my style of playing is more in line with how a guitarist thinks in terms of riffs. I also wanted to play like a metal guitarist so I have some older tunes where I distort my keys and try to play wicked solos with a wah wah pedal. With songs like this I tried to bring emotion in an almost restrained method. I like your notes on the melody being implied, I think that describes it in a way for years I couldn't say. I have another example of this style but a more Jazz chord structured song. http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/140667
Much thanks Ed
Steve
I left a few comments over on Bear`s page....so let me just say..I don`t think there is anyone who could have so perfectly conveyed the feelings...emotion...like you have done here patricia....Ed
You`ve got a lot of good musical company here crucethus...and some really catchy melody bits that raise this one up to a high level....very nicely done....Ed
Dm this is just so good girl....I don`t have the original in my music file....but I`ve got this one now...the way you do it adds some subtle bluesy elements that I just love....the accompaniment is excellent..and your vocal rendition is even better than that....I was a fan before./...now I`m just a bigger one...great job....Ed
I'm happy you say I manage to make this purple rain sound blue, Ed ;)
Thank you so much for your warm comment . I'm delighted you enjoyed the listening, dear Ed .
Take care and have a sweet time,
xo
Janis
well....I just had to log in to hit the download button on this one brillbilly......really is a picture painting mind grabber...has that air of the mystic that I often try to associate with my Celtic type efforts...Just a great track my friend...I`ll be listening to this one more that a few times......Ed
Emotion driven music is a beautiful thing dont ya think!
Thank you so much for your kind comments and a very big thanks for taking time to let this music turn your thoughts to playing along to it with your beautiful guitar playing, that you've so kindly sent me,i love it and will see what i can do!
you are a versatile guy ShemZee....I haven`t listened to much D&B but must say you do it well...the genre seems to draw on a lot of really good synth sounds...this one has an aggressive vibe...a bit different for you....Good for you.....Ed
Oh hell yeah.....see I missed this one...but must say it is dm catchy...love the spanish feel, keys, perc...& Mark is up to his usual high standards....nice production on it too guys....well done...enjoyed it & sorry I`m late (I blame everything on old age now...its a wonderful excuse).....Ed
outa sight good stuff guys....a great singer & a great blues guitarist...and I can just sit right here at home and listen in.....(I used to go places that were a bit scary to listen to blues players & a lot of them could take lessons from you)......super collab musiclover38 & Patricia....Ed
Thanks Ed! It means a lot. I know places like that, even here in Denmark. I jam there sometimes. I actually had a blast talking to a scary looking guy with one arm, that was sorry he couldn't play guitar, but enjoyed playing the harp instead. About the lessons? I don't know about that, but still cool of you to say!
you likely noticed I haven`t done anything in the genre and I likely lost track of the electronica & dance genre stuff about a decade or 2 ago...Its an area I haven`t dared much (did do a trance mix on a challenmge a while back though)...still...its good listening when the spirit moves and I can hear a lot of thought that must have gone into the mix....good on ya brillbilly.....Ed
Behnam...your music is unique...and that makes it special for those of who enjoy creative ideas...the glock and acoustic guitar really makes a good combination...and I know you call the tune simple...however...it is one of those little tunes that sticks in your mind...and you find yourself humming along after it is done....enjoyed it a lot...Keep on doing it your own way Behnam.....Ed
I'm proud to read such words from Ed Cunningham(the name which I've read it on the monitor of my car while driving & listening to your various beautifull music these recently months), & also honestly & simply I think my tallented friends like you are unique in here dear Ed . your kind encouragements in this virtual world has a great feedback in my brain's energy field in my real life & wish you have all the best in your real life too .thanx for everything Ed .
geez....I wish we had some kind of notice of fav uploads for us slackers who dont get much listening time on the loop...but dm...its good to be able to listen to this kind of music on our little site here....This kind of innovation doesn`t hit the radios (its too good)...has too much imagination and evidence of talent & thinking composing...and while its entirely different...it reminds me that the experiences & talented artists that I love who now have made enough swag are doing their real music (and its even better)..they`re not on the radio any more either....Great stuff Dave...dont have enough words to describe...but its uplifting....got energy...got feel...just good....Keep on doing it...Ed
Hey Ed..thanks man!...the only radio play Zappo or I will ever get is probably as background muzak in an insane asylum! lol....the weird thing is I've heard Jimi Hendrix and the Doors playing in my local supermarket and thought Jeez now even that stuff is regarded as muzak! lol
cheers mate Dave :)
my sympathies markg....I guess if we are around long enough its a pain that we all experience...my own experience doesn`t differ much from your own...Music is a great means of expression and often says more than our words can...I feel your pain....This is a beautiful tribute...full of feeling and emotion....really nicely done.....keep on....Ed
I`m discovering some great listening music over here on your page Proxy....this is a fantistic bit of musical art...the cello is always a special addition....Think I`ll hang around here a while & keep hitting the play buttons....well done....Ed
I think the North African drumming first caught my attention when I discovered Loreena McKinnett`s music...Years ago we went to see "The Blue Nile" at the Imax here and I could just have closed my eyes (in spite of the great visuals) and listened to the music....This is a great track Proxy...quite minimal but with everything it needs to take the trip....much enjoyed......Ed
when I need some education in Techno I`ll be back over this way BlackKasper...I haven`t done a real techno mix but I quit paying attention to genres when looking for good beats a long time ago so I have more than a few from my techno folder in other types of tunes...This one says you got a good fix on not just the genre but the whole compositional thinking....nicely done...Ed
janis71....thank you so much for doing this one...it was a very ordinary little piece of music until you raised it to the heavens...and I am very proud of you...and to have been a part of your musical journey....now its my fav all time Celtic song....(Loreena would be jealous)......Big Thanks....think I will post a little note in the forums.....Ed
Thank you Ed for the joy I had collaborating with you on this musical jewel ! It brought so much oxygen and peace in my chore ...

Hey....way to go guys...grea5t job on this one...andf Mark does have the vocal chops to do this kind of stuff...just used the original in a video sound track a while back....could have used this one instead....well done...Ed
yes...have to agree with you...even though it is repetative...there is just something catchy about that little (dropped key) guitar bit...enjoyed the listen...Ed
Well...I certainly have no special knowledge of classical vocalists Janis71...but I know a when song is performed with such wonderful talent and feeling...as you do it here. I have listened to and enjoyed many professional singers (though not as many in classical performances) but you prove here what I have oftens felt....that some of the best vocalists on our little planet are those undiscovered gems who make no claims to fame...but just shine like a light with their own talent.....We are fortunate to have these little music communities that allow us to hear what you do...Bravo....I am a fan........Ed
Be sure you'll always have the best VIP seats at my living-room concerts, Ed ! lol
