whatever changes you did to the mix have it sounding good Megapaul...when it comes to mixing we all have our own tastes or preferences, but I like the live feel to this one and the guitars have a nice fat sound...Patricia`s vocals are always good...and the composition you developed really works....nicely done....Ed
that piano/key bit around 4:20 is real tasty...proof that house/trance can be good listening as well as good dancing Kenny...some really nice sounds and the mix gives them a smooth type of vibe....enjoyed this one....Ed
I`ve loved that B3 sound since I first heard Booker T...Wish NI still made their B4 vsti (I have an old version that runs (partially) on my 64 bit system)...Great playing Stefano and you really nailed the vibe....much enjoyed....Ed
Well, I haven't found yet a completely acceptable Hammond emulation, particularly for Leslie.
For the organ sound in this track I used both Cakewalk Sound Center and a free vst plugin called Organized Trio, which is not bad especially for that 'deep rock' preset (there is also another nice preset which emulates ELP's Pictures at an exhibition).
oh yeah....really nice laid back late night listening..Kudos to Samantha on the vocal and the music has a nice smoooth jazzy vibe....well done you two.....Ed
now thats metal guitar....great job Eric...and the vocal fits to a T Mark...This one is the way it should be...with vocals that are fully legible/audible and the accompaniment still shines through (I have heard more that a few metal tracks where the vocal was just totally overpowered)...Nicely done guys...(its a hot mix)......Ed
Ed,
TY man. This in my opinion is where metal should be. Black and Death Metal are just all double kick and emotionless. Not to mention the screaming... :/
I have called this style "White Metal".
And yes, I mixed it hot on purpose :)
Mark.
Now this is different...as I have come to expect..really like the vocal and the imaginative sounds you wrapped around it Spiv......no boring commercial pop here....great track...enjoyed the listen...Ed
Oh man...that fat low bass is killer good..I can`t claim much knowledge of the genre smallpaul but I`ve noticed it often has some fantastic sounds (like this one)..Bonnie`s vocal is top notch and must say you did a super job of the composition and wrapping the music around it...You`re making a drum n bass fan out of this ol boy....great track....Ed
Hi mate thanks for kind review, I love a bit of Drum & Bass every now and again. I already had the track down (mostly) and Bonnies pella was just amazing and after a bit of work it came together.
You may not play an instrument Trojanman...but you have that musically creative mind that can pull a composition together well....good job on this one.....keep on....Ed
Welcome Sherris....A good thing about Looperman...we can turn off the noise on our radios and listen to genuine creativity from around the world without the commercial limits...you are off to a fine start and we will be hearing more from you......good listening......Ed
I heard they come here to siphon power off our electrical grids.....they musi get dm good mileage...haha...Yes...this one is a big ship...I hear the metal ambience and the dimness just conforms your comments about them not paying their bills up there....Lets start a protest movement about them stealing our power...first item on the agenda is to get a government grant for reasearch & investigation....(then we`ll do more music & represent it as live recordings of events).......Good one AS...I hear the story....Ed
Willie country blue....you just have the voice for this stuff Kenny...like the minimal kind of mix (although the harmonica does clutter it a wee bit)...something I have been trying to do for a while...but I end up having fun with all the vst stuff & it doesn`t always stay as minimal as I intend...anyway....this is just fantastic listening ...a great song...top notch accompaniment....whats not to love....great job...Ed
I have always loved this song...have even tried versions a couple of times but instrumental versions of vocals never really work well for me...Its great Patricia...and the production is just fine...I was using one of those Yamaha 16 track disc recorders before I went with the PC stuff & it was absolutely fine...just didnt have access to other effects...well done...as always...Ed
PS;Google "Playing For Change" some time (its an org that provides instruments to those who cant afforrd them)..a whole bunch of great music videos on youtube (produced by a friend from Berklee school of music)..including some of the classis like... Stand By Me...done by street musicians around the world...this song reminded me of the project.
this is one of your best Stefano....your music reminds me how great it is to have these little music communities like LM where we can hear music that is so different from the canned stuff on our radios....we are all products of the music environment we grow in I think..and I really enjoyed this one...just caught up with it this evening (Wed night here in Canada) and it was a pleasure...great job....Ed
Hey Ed, I'm very sorry! I just realize now that I forgot to give feedback to your comment!
Thank you, for your kind words, bro, and I'm glad that you enjoyed my little track up there in Canada...
Yes, LM is a wonderful place and I already feel part of this little big community, even though I'm a newbie!
I was hooked right from the intro with that acoustic guitar SeaDog....and the rest of the track just keep that nice chilled vibe going....well done....enjoyed this one....Ed
Oh man Kenny....you topped yourself again...this is really pro...should expect that I guess when I read who is in the mix....fantastic man...can`t say enough good things about it...Just having a great listen & feeling it.....Ed
Hey Ed, thanx bro, really appreciate it. Glad to have made some music that's not too far out of your comfort zone. I knoe a lot of my trance stuff is not your style.
Now this one has gotta move you....great stuff Kenny...and a fine tribute to our generous and talented friend JoeF....you got me off to a good start this Friday...thanks....Ed
Its got a kind of ominous vibe...appropriate to the subject..cool use of fx...I could hear this one being a video soundtrack...better pop over & check youtube....I think we should have an ap that allows us to start watching them...especially the cash flow in their bank accounts....good job....Ed
Thanks, Ed. I missed this comment the first time around for some reason, so circling back 4 years later. The NSA, by the way, is still doing the same shit, and no one cares. Oh well. I guess my song didn't work.
first off...I gotta commend you of the mixing here...I realize you havent mastered it up to commercial volume standards (and thats not a bad thing)...but you really did a good job of getting the heavy guitars in there, drums, bass etc and still having the vocal up front and totally clear...the reason it caught my attention is that I have heard so many metal songs where the vocal was lost in the roar I pretty well gave up even bothering to listen a long time ago (even though I like the guitar stuff).....all round its a good song guys....well done....Ed
None of our stuff is going to be mixed up to commercial volume standards because, as far as I'm concerned, that sort of overloud and overcompressed mastering doesn't do rock and metal any favors.
this is unique stuff iSean...I know little about hip hop but enjoyed the creativity here & noticed some of those cool little bits you got in the backgound....well done...Ed
I have always thought that emotions and talent produce some great music....more proof of the concept here cmartine14...I wish you all the best & look foreward to hearing your future ones.....Ed
Ed, thank you so much for your comment. i dont even know how to say 'thank you' without it sounding scripted! but i am truly grateful that you took the time to say i have talent and i really cannot wait to share more music in the future. all the songs i have completed this past year will be for the album but i am excited for what the future is bringing. i really am. so i thank you again Ed. and thank you for wishing me luck! ill need it for surgery! haha :)
