now this is some new style soul music that gets it done. love the simplicity of the beat, the effects on her vocals, and her voice. it reminds me of the madvillain ft stacey epps song 'eye'. completely unexpected, absolutely incredible. its a case of love at first listen. respect to both of you.

song gave me an eargasim! bass is so crunchy, and the phase on the e-piano is so airy and spacious...ahhh. awesome track jp. oh, where did you get that snare? i must have it.
DJJPA
DJJPA replied 7th Jun 2012 - 13 years ago
Thanks so much for the listen and review. So glad you were feeling this one.

The snare is two snares stacked, a deeper "live" one and a higher compressed "hip hop" snare laid on top very lightly.

Hey I noticed that our musical tastes are very similar. must be why i feel your music too. Wow... Influences. They poke through.

Thanks again for the encouragement. J.P.

on Silky Rhodes Chords by BlaqhstarrMusic
this is really good. the layering of the sounds breaks things up on the back of that drum with the solid groove. i would but a compressor on that kick drum with very slow attack and a fast release so the ummmf from it without the hardness. that would probably bring out the bass a little more. maybe add a little air on the eq to make the hats and the top ends of the synths shimmer. and a little bit wider on the stereo too, all seems a little condensed into the center. really good song man, got any plans for vocals?

I'm looking for the right person for the track so as of now its in the air. Appreciate the tip.

Z! probably dont remember me but i remember you! its kazu-kun after a successful name change operation. sorry to hear about the pain youve been having, even more to hear that its gettin worse. happy to hear a new song tho. nobody does ambient like zero2zero, and this is a prime example. i see two suns falling into a black whole. defying all physics, after the event horizon they come together in a perfect binary orbit, neither the primary, both the companion star. wonderful. get better z.

we experienced and the story zero is telling with his music. I personally saw a barren wasteland with 2 lost souls comming together and the wasteland turning into a tropical paradise where everyhing is alive and vibrant

thanks SM...need to hear your latest, it been a long while, willdo!...smmr
StereoMathematics
that is epic. its not face meltingly loud, but its heavy. love the dark sounding drone, and the stops and changups on the drums are fantastic. i do agree that the mix could use a little work, the drums distort at times on the kick and snare.
good ass track cono.

StereoMathematics

oh
my
GAWD!
it sounds like a studio recording, where she is singing as the band plays. friggin awesome job on the horns and the sax, and the mix is so on point. enjoyed, wish the fav button was still around...

Hi Stereo.... Thank you for your kind review... I'm glad you like it. There's only one loop in this song ( the cabasa/maracas shakin' during the break )... Horns have been created with Vir2 Mojo Horns Library, except the solo tenor sax, which I have played...

I use EQ / Exciter / Verb to fatten the horn section...

That's it for the recipe :)
Thanks for listening.
Peace.

a blind eye can be turned as long as goods keep being produced. people saw that movie blood diamond, said "thats horrible", but still people buy diamonds. profit is all that matters, to the worlds governments and to the corporations that own them.

friggin indeed. this is some kick ass dubstep right here. that "my synths will melt your grey matter" dubstep gets old. really happy to here it like this. solid. trippy, dark, really nice percussion, love the bass and the little growl it makes. dude, i can dig it.

Hi SM (love the concept of stereo mathematics!)

Thanks for the kind words and particularly the six string work. There are three parts on this track. An open tuned (dropped D) in the background and an electric rhythm track putting in some percussive stuff. Then the solo and yes, it was great fun to do. I always enjoy the challenge of trying to sound like I've never played the same notes before! Patricia's voice is just amazing - she is such an immense talent. Glad you enjoyed the collaboration and thanks again for stopping by to listen and comment. Much appreciated.

Regards

Richie
