This sounds like something I'd try and do, but do not nearly so well! Love it Micky, took me nicely away from myself. Merry Christmas.

Hi Chris, great to hear from you and I'm especially happy that the track did something for you. I wish I could have recorded it under better (technical) conditions... but the mental circumstances couldn't have been better.
Best wishes,
Micky

This is really cool, like it a lot. Your voice and the music, except for the rocky bits, somewhat remind me of Fat Freddies Drop. Enjoyed the lyrics too. Nice one.

Smooth and jazzy and nice tones. I see you list Fat Freddie's, I've seen them a couple of times here in NZ. Great band.

on 4- I wont miss you by BaoBou
Very cool to hear you again Baobou! Been trying to get a chance to do some listening but life is very busy at the moment, bit of a transitional phase going on for various reasons. Anyway, this is gold. Such a sweet intro. Pro performance and mix. Just great happy fun all around. Cheers Zoot

Thank you so much my friend!
I've been in the same hole for the past year or so. Couldn't get the creative juices going, couldn't find the time, couldn't find the energy, the words I wanted to say, no interesting melodies, nothing that stuck.
I did 2-3 things that I think helped me:
* I completely rearranged my office/studio so everything was a bit easier to find again. The easier it is to play, the better
* I went to a concert that inspired me a lot! (Jacob Collier). Also, because he is so insanely good, I sort of felt freed up to be crap and do my own thing
* I started simple. The simplest exercise I could find, some 30 second clip. It helped me to find the fun in the process again, and then the rest came naturally.

Don't be hard on yourself. You are a creative guy - even if you don't write anything for a decade, it's still there, and you'll be back.

Hugs!

Who cares about genre? Got a jazzy vibe tho. This is great, enjoyed it a lot. You should check out another looperman artist Pseudoble. I think you'd dig it maybe. Wish I had some time to create, just listening to the odd thing at the moment. Cheers Zoot.

Ha - Thanks Chis - yeah I think you might be on the nicer side. And thanks for the nice comment too. Just wasted a couple of hours that I should have been doing something around the house on a not so good track called ' sad young man at a disco ' (eat your heart out duchamp) - Ill send it to you for a laugh - needs a bass line!

I think you will love this, it's not music, it's musical but it's an audio show.
You are in for a great surpirse, I have been sitting on it for three years, all the pieces finally came together for part one to be finalized.

on The Journey by JCrews
I listened to this earlier. I really like the vibe, it's really quite psychedelic. Your guitars sound great, as I remember from other tracks is yours. Organ is cool. What are u using? The mix has a nice thickness to it. I'm not sure about the fairly extreme panning on the guitar all the way through though. Maybe a bit much, but then again it fits the vibe I think you were going for. Cool stuff, Chris.
JCrews
JCrews replied 22nd Nov 2024 - 1 year ago
Hey Z, sorry for the delay in replying, but i wanted to remix this song first. After relistening to it, you were right about the panning. Not sure what you meant about "what I'm using", but for organ I'm using the Vintage Organ collection by Native Instruments, and for the thickness of the sound I used Denise Audio's Bass XXL. Thanks for the helpful review. Jimmy

Dude, this is quite an epic. Hypnotic with the length and the spelling out of whatever it was, I kept losing track. Messed with my head. The intro made me laugh out loud! Always love your lyrics too bro, no exception here.

27 years? Man u been in the game for a long time. I knew your were old but.... that's almost as old as me lol. Nice tune. I like that synth that comes in about half way through. Actually, for that matter, all the synth work sounds great. Hope you are well and good, Zoot.

Thanks Zoot. I feel like an old man today as everything hurts this morning, but yeah, I've been doing this for a while. Peaked in 2002

This is deep and dark, love it mate, even though I'm not generally a metalhead (though my 13 yr old son has discovered Metallica so I'm getting a lot of that at the moment - but it's good). There was a wind blowing through my head when that section started at 3.26, that was awesome. I'm sure I've heard the name Alan Watts, but don't really know what he was about. I did see this quote though which resonated - "The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. To have faith is to trust yourself to the water. When you swim you don't grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown". There's a similar Herman Hesse quote like that too (maybe from Steppenwolf), which I always remembered. Most men will not swim before they are able to. Is that not witty? Naturally, they won't swim! They are born for the solid earth, not for the water. And naturally they wont think. They are made for life, not for thought. Yes, and he who thinks, whats more, he who makes thought his business, he may go far in it, but he has bartered the solid earth for the water all the same, and one day he will drown.

Thank you, sir. I appreciate it.
It's funny, I was 13 when I discovered Metallica. But that was a long, long time ago.
Alan Watts has a lot of very thought-provoking and profound things to say. He's definitely worth checking into if you're into much deeper thinking and philosophy.
"Most men will not swim before they are able to." That is good. It kind of reminds me of "Sleep is for the weak." Of course it is. Why else would you be sleeping, if not just to dream?
Thank you again for stopping by.
Take care.

on Gotta Have Heart by dimestop
Hi Paul. Second listen for me. It's a good combination, your voice and lyrics to this music. I've been listening to you for a long time as your know. If there's one thing I'd say, specially on these indie type tracks, is that your should pay some more attention to your melodies. That would be the icing on the cake. Cheers Chris

on Verdiqo Ft Darren - The Magical Forest - Redone by Verdiqo
I really liked Darren's original. It sounded like gnomes in a trippy garden, very whimsical. This maintains that vibe but is a lot more cinematic. It's great, well done.
Verdiqo
Verdiqo replied 11th Nov 2024 - 1 year ago
@Zoot I liked the original one as well. Thats the reason why that track peeked my interest. But it felt a bit blanc. I just stood by the original idea that Darren had in mind in the first place. I simply improved on his idea & creation. Thats all i really did. Because in the end its still his work. And thats how my project works. People have a idea when it comes to music, getting it out in the world. And i simply improve on the existing ideas and concepts. And stick to the idea that people had in mind in the first place when they created a track. But thanks for the visit & dropping by. Have a good one. Verdi
