on Celebrate the Cornerstone by RichardShekari
Your musicianship, vocals and songwriting and production are excellent. The overtly Christian lyrics tentd to put me off, for probably too many and complex reasons to go into here. Just being honest. I'll keep listening though! By the way, the lyrics about the stone the builder the refused becoming the head cornerstone Bob Marley used in one of my fav songs of his Ride Natty Ride. Full of prophecy that song....

Hey, Zootman! Thanks so much for your kind words about my musicianship and songwriting. I really appreciate your honesty about the lyrics. I understand that the overtly Christian themes might not resonate with everyone, and I respect your perspective. Its great to hear that youll keep listening!

I used to rap a lot from the early 2000s to around 2013 under the stage name Rex Razor, and my songs back then were filled with anger, resentment, and demeaning statements towards my parents and others. Sometimes, we tend to want to keep our hearts dark and use that to drag others down with us. The themes were really tough. People loved those tracks, but everything changed after my encounter with the Lord. I totally get that my current direction might put some folks off.

I love that you connected my lyrics to Bob Marleys workhis music has such rich themes and depth. If you ever want to share more thoughts, Id love to hear them!

Beautiful. I just sat back and let this wash over me. Agree with others that some sort of minimal vocals would sit nicely on this. Well done.

Nice one. Vox go well with the music. I could imagine Tom Waits getting down on this but would need a few more pots and pans to bang. Quirky ending too.

Funny I was wondering when you'd pop up again. One of yours came up on my phone the other day when I was playing music on random. It was instantly recognizable, which is a compliment! Nice intimate vox on this one sad lyrics! I also like the kind of muted sound on the main guitar. Keep them coming please....

randalld replied 9th Oct 2024 - 1 year ago
hahah. It's funny i used to be more productive with music when my goal was to post on looperman. So that's what I did yesterday! and thanks zootman, i have a standard process for vocals when I record now. This song was actually one vocal, just doubled a few times. My lyrics are typically sad but that's just my thing for music lol I'll keep them coming more regularly! I love hearing from you, danke, and dimestop so its good motivation to keep at it!

Emailed you one maybe you didn't get it. One called One Life on LM. Minimal vox tho, just a couple of lines, but thought I'd let you know just in case. I also asked you for the drum track from your first Closer remix, wet and dry, but only if you had the time or could be bothered. Cheers Chris.

This sounds great mate. Beautifully recorded too. I'd be very tempted to add my dulcet tones (lol) if I could find some time. Hopefully someone jumps on it. Man it's nice to hear more guitars here lately, especially accoustics like this. Nice one!

Sounds awesome, and dunno about the genre! Mix sounds amazing. Fx on the guitar sounds great, I don't remember Hendrix doing that.
Neomorpheus
Neomorpheus replied 3rd Oct 2024 - 1 year ago
Thanks for the listen and comment Zoot. Yes there is quite a bit of effects in the signal chain here. Besides the Wah pedal I'm also using a pitch shifter to obtain the harmony. I'm also using the whammy bar quite a bit to bend a lot of the notes in and out. Hendrix used an Octavia pedal quite often in his soloing, I'm using boosted octave fuzz, driving the amp hard, with some added reverb and delay.

Hey bro, thank you! The potential we have is astounding. I'm going to be working on 5-6 more tracks for the debut, with the help of a few LM folks. It's rewarding as hell to put this stuff together, and also bring together people from all over. Thanks for listening man, more to come, I promise. - Aaron

Dark and doomy mate. Not sure doomy is a word but never mind. I dunno how you guys mix the bass on this style but I could probably do with finding out, I don't think I deal with the low end very well on my productions. Cheers Zoot

Lovely. Going into spring here in NZ so this seems to go with my season. I've had a couple of attempts at doing something in 3/4 time, not classical, but nothing stuck. It's quite hard I think. Cheers Zoot

Yes music is hard work my friend. I've scrapped more tunes than I've finished.
I wonder how many Mozart scrapped?
Thanks for the reply my friend.

on fata morgana - extended version by doudei
This sounds just as good or better even on another couple of listens. I really like your work here, being bit of a fan of 'world' music and desert blues like Ali Farka Toure. By the way, I took your advice and fixed up the mix on One Life. Reduced the level on the cymbal track a touch as well as tweaking the brightener plug in on the overall drum bus. Sound much better now, you can hear the clean delay guitar fx much better. Cheers Chris

thank you, chris, not just for the kind words, but for taking the time to listen - multiple times even! i really appreciate it.
also i am happy that my suggestions were useful. just listened again with headphones and indeed it's a subtle but effective change you did - nice! :)

Happy times! Lovely man. I've been enjoying your guitar work lately. That Jorado track your sent me is awesome. I haven't come up with anything to add in terms of vox but I love it. This one too of course. A little different from you but it still has that dense layered rhythmic quality your often bring.

Hey Chris - yeah got to do something with that other track - this was the result of experimenting with guitar synth vst's before I applied even less finesse with the real thing : )

Man this is cool. Great colab. It's got a fantastic urgency to it. Like the saturation they put on your vox. And our German friends sound fantastic, they just jump out of the speakers.

Pretty wild man, love your vox as always. I'd call this more fusion than weird, there's even a dub influence in there to me, and electronica of course. Which reminds me, here's a dub thing I did a while back. Maybe it might take your fancy to do something with. Could easily tweak it. I'll let you know if I come up with anything else I think might work.
