Hey man, you seem to enjoy exploring electronic sounds in general, but this one really speaks to me. I am also a fan of lovecraft and anything similar and the journey you intended is definitely felt, and i always appreciate a song with a story to tell.
Hello and thank you very much for your words, luckily I'm fine and in this period of isolation I'm playing a lot. In fact, I really like to research sounds trying to take advantage of the many possibilities offered by synthesizers. I am happy that you enjoyed my music. A greeting
i can tell a lot of time went into this one. the sounds and progression is excellent and I really enjoy this but i do have one minor complaint, the snare at the beginning is kinda loud enough to distract me from all the other stuff and i really want to hear all the other stuff. later on it isnt as much of a problem because theres more volume overall. this said, im stuck on really crappy headphones at the moment so maybe its just that.
:) Yeah a lot of time did go into this one, I actually had so many versions, one without the intro and a few cords too. Over time I evolved it til I was Satisfied. And yeah the Snare at the start was a little loud, normally my daw can't make that drum sound with what I had so I had to improvise which is why it's prob loud. I know I'm not 100% perfect. So I appreciate the feedback. I'll try to keep the sounds closer together when they're suppose to mesh.
I can see why you made that post as this could definitely go a lot of different directions. I'd like to encourage you to finish more of your stuff even if you don't end up liking the end result as you can learn a lot by doing that. as for what to do with this one in particular, in the end its up to you but I think I'd skip out on the rap with something this chill, i generally find rap fits better with something a little more intense. if i were writing it id put in some kinda piano or synth melody and a relatively simple bassline. this seems more like a beginning and there's just so many different ways to go with this its kinda hard to make suggestions. if you want to grab some attention though id recommend a lot more variation on things in the song as you make it, or if we're just chilling out a slow progression. thats all i got right now, hope it helps
Thanks for the suggestions! I understand the rap thing but maybe it'd help if I said I was planning for it to be a deep, clean styled rap-ish type thing but still have a melody in the lines (not sure if I explained that good). This is a beginning and I have and will continue to play around with some synths, pianos, and rhodes. Thank you for your support!
hey buddy, i actually really love this and the piano is spot on and the drums are great.... i really hope to hear a mastered version of this soon though, kinda afraid of blowing a speaker at the moment, no offense intended.
i dont normally listen to this genre but i really like this, but i also feel like theres a lot going on in the background thats getting covered up and thats a shame because it would definitely take this to the next level. its as simple as messing with the sound levels, heavy reverb is notoriously hard to mix (yes, i too have excessive amounts of reverb) and i generally have to use an equalizer to bring back the high end to make it more crisp. youve definitely got something special here though and i hope you keep it up
hey man, this is definitely a cut above the rest. good sounds and good melody and im definitely hearing a lot of those subtle things in there that really make it just that much better
not really what i was expecting when i clicked on the drum and bass tag but im not complaining. overall i absolutely love the instrumentation, but my only real complaint is the vocals dont always seem to match whats going on with the song. that said, the instrumentation is like.. top notch
I like the feel of the stuff youve been putting out, kind of like flying really.
It sounds like some of the notes are getting badly distorted here however, it may even be the cause of your problem with the visualization.
okay, so i wont say anything about the track, because i think its perfect. Those synths are godlike.
(y u no let me download T_T)
So ill talk about the mix now that ive listened to it on my studio setup.
The clicks, while a major part of the song i feel are little too far forward in the mix, they stick out just a bit too much.
and the bass has more going on the low end than your average dubstep track.
not a bad thing necessarily, thats just what i noticed
Yeah, I didn't spend too much time mixing this. I plan on coming back to it and as soon as I finish it, it will be up for download. Maybe I'll be able to spend some time mixing this soon.
heh, this has been kind of the story of my life lately.
but yeah, with danke on this one.
turn down the voice and screaming (especially the one under a filter, around 43 seconds) and turn up everything else and this will be golden.
as for centralsdevs, he doesnt have the best english, im trying to teach him how to be less rude but i dont think its sticking...
he thinks your a good screamer though i guess?
i think your singing is excellent regardless
Yea im not quite sure what he means to be honest. And thanks for the input. Still trying to get my mixing and mastering down. Glad i could have a song that relates to you too BTW. Its always nice if someone can go, "yep thats me" by listening to one of my songs :)
Are you selling this stuff?
i cant speak for everyone, but i would pay good money for it.
Would easily be right at home in the background of a video game or movie.
The end especially makes me think of mass effect
Thanks a lot for taking the time to listen & leave a comment. I'm working up to it! I've been working with fellow composers over the past few weeks to create bigger orchestras and better sounding tracks.
at first i was like "whaaaaaaat?"
then i got it and it was awesome.
definitely experimental, probably why i like it.
Feel like the cars added a nice warm drone underneath (Oh god were using cars on the highway as instruments now?)
course it also gave it creepy undertones.
but all in all, this is just. so. interesting. XD
this actually reminds me of autechre a bit, which just so happens to be my favorite band of all time.
But yeah, as has been said before by others, its nice but its a little TOO chill.
Need more action, i feel like some punchy drums would definitely do the trick.
punch me in the face XD
alternatively, it would probably sound just fine if you just upped the tempo a bit, might not even need anything else.
Course, theres a lot of things possible here, which only says its probably going to be epic when its finished.
good luck to ya
if you want my honest opinion, this really just doesnt have anything that catches my attention
just another crazy bass composition that goes all over the place
one, the rythmns on incoming have no real care, its just flinging bass on a track
two, melody may not be required on a good dubstep track, but it sure does make for good ear candy
three, the sudden tempo changes are random and make no sense, in other words, it needs more structure, and i think less is more applies here
ah
also, part of what phyrius has mentioned can be done through audacity
go to effects and find the equalizer
and thats a main bit of what you need, theres a big long process to mastering but thats a good place to start
