Wanted to give this another listen after the guys left. We had a strong vocal session from everyone, but I couldnt appreciate this fully the first time cuz we were so wound up. Now its unwind time. I have to agree with my brother (for once lol) and say that i hear a bit of Floyd here. The GREAT Floyd albums i listened to when i was younger that took me on journeys I wish Id never come back from. Thank you for this one, Glenn.
Hello Pnnywze, thanking you for the comments and listening....and really appreciate sounding just a drop like Floyd or anyone to be honest...they are great players, I'm just a guy who loves the guitar....again thank you my friend.
Gave it a second listen before i cut out for the night (morning) And I was whoa. Now Im kinda intimidated lol. Theres a certain energy here, present in all of the rock-ish songs you have been doing recently, but this one has it the most. its kind of a "Form an all female Rock Band and take over the planet" vibe. I like it. Lol. Are we in danger of that vibe coming true, Kay?
You can sleep soundly, lol - Kay0s rRock isn't aiming for World dominance. However, Kay0s will drop the odd track that wakes everyone up every now and then! Thank you so much for your feedback
It feels so much like listening to a ghost, man - it gives me chills. Thanks for telling our story in such a heartfelt way. Yungin lives on in our hearts. He is smiling on us right now.
I can hear a blues scale at work here, the tones work together well. nice sound selection and also some nice vocals. If this an experimental type track for u, id aim for something similar and see wat happens. id be down to hear it.
Heres another track that reminds me strongly of the raves and glo up parties once attended, only this one is even more interesting than most. well done.
what strange and intriguing subject matter! Theres something about it thats kinda horrifying - false awakening indeed lol. I like it alot. But u guys have had a true awakening as of late. ur on a roll man
It is a tad disconcerting when you think you are awake and you find you dreamt it. It's a bit disenpowering, a bit like sleep paralysis. Based on true experience -False Awakening is 'A Thing', lol. Thank you for appreciating our work. We do tend to step outside the Norm ;) Kay
This is one of my favorites Of Infamous' verses, and Sam is on fire too. We did it, man....and I made a lifelong vision come to fruition along the way. I've had all this in my head since before I took the name Pnnywze....10 or more years ago. Congrats Jared. And congrats to the whole group, and to everyone who contributed to the Monzder Squadd's first project, i could never thank u enough.
Whoa, when it started it sounded like the theme from Shaft or a 70's movie starring Pam Grier. That's not inherently a bad thing, especially since this becomes something else entirely over the course of its 3 mins. Music and the creativity I often find on display here is a huge reason why I stuck around when I first came to LM.... Tho getting to know many of the talented people here is the biggest reason. I'm not sure where u might go with this, but ill check it out again if u continue work on it. I like the creativity and personality in this - I can hear the groundwork being laid for something even better, if u continue to work toward it, and discover more ways to turn your ideas into music. My best advice for u is to find other like minded people to work with - sometimes that idea doesn't seem to be helpful, but working with the right people can create magic, and that is a beautiful thing. I know of 2 or 3 creative minds here on LM that would be perfect partners for u, based on what I've heard here.
Another bit of advice - have a positive feeling about what u create - I found your ending unique and could even be a signature thing for u, and have many of your songs have unorthodox endings. Try and see it this way - It's your music and it's a privilege for others to experience it. I hope something I've said here helps u in some way. Stay inspired, man. - Pnnywze
yes I could not hide any longer my interest for vintage music, Stax, Issac Hayes, Memphis so many magic names! thanks for the support and the cool pieces of advice. For sure (!) this is a chance to be able to get feedback from any musician on this platform. Thx again for listening and sharing your feedback.
Ok Aaron, its still getting plays bro, its a really good track and a great collaboration i'm a bit quiet these days but i'll be back other things, ya know
Its extremely hard to use loops, especially loops that are made by different people with different software etc., since all that must be adjusted to match each other as well as what ur putting together urself. All kinds of variables make it a difficult thing to pull off. Idk what loops u used Vs. What u did urself, and that is compliment on its own bcuz of everything I mentioned. Now that you've got the melodic elements and the framework of the track complete, Id go back and add a few more flourishes, and possibly a drop and/or change up, maybe near the end. This is the first time I've heard ur work, if I hear more I'd have a better idea of what ur style is, and what ur signature (s) are, or might be. I often collaborate with other LM members, and there's a lot of ways to do that. If ur interested, shoot me an email.
I'm definitely looking for some collaboration. I try to use loops only from looperman. The things I do myself are drums( i use drum loops as well as making my own ), crashes, ambiance, risers ect. I will email you and get more in depth
My brother is considering using this one for another freestyle, coming in the next week or two. Idk if u heard the first one he did over one of ur other beats, but its dope
This has a southern American Rock feel to it, like V.Driver said I can hear Bob Seger, but perhaps even later Allman Brothers or the newest Generation of Lynrd Skynyrd, which is very different than old skynrd, but still very southern and distinct. And of course, I hear your own distinct sound, as well. And that's just the connections my brain could make - it's also it's own kinda thing. IDK about country, at least in the modern American sense, most of it is mind numbing and (to me) mildly infuriating. This is none of those things, thank the Pantheon of Music Deities lol. I'll be glad to hear how this one progresses
Thanks so much buddy. You're right, it's a bit Americana/Jackson Browne/Little Feat kind of feel - you might be too young for that and it might not be your taste but those guys had some amazing music that I think survives 50 years later. Oh and btw there's of course the link between Lynrd Skynrd and the Dutch, so that makes sense too :)
(Maybe Tom Petty is also a reference)
That last ingredient - imagination - is first in importance, imo. And not everyone has it, I'm afraid. Don't worry, u have it in spades, my friend. U also seem to be spreading ur wings a bit, so to speak, and experimenting a little bit. That's often how greatness happens, so keep the gas pedal down, brother. Lovely composition.
Hello Pnnywze, I value your comments and thoughts on my tracks...there's so much to gain by listening to all types of music and I love listening to music to learn as well as play.... lot of ideas on this site....can't shy away from trying something new...I have a lot ideas always and good folk like yourself keep the motivation strong.....so keep it pushing on your end as well, you're putting out some great stuff as well....peace brother.
Thanks Aaaron - we were v appreciative of the samples for the male voice - now I am going to sound real dumb, what does mpvs mean, lol Thanks for stopping by ;)
The progression reminds me of a melody I made for a song a year or 2 ago, except mine was much slower. I posted a custom graph/poster on the LM Discord awhile back detailing the emotional elements tied to keys, notes, chords etc, and this made me think of that too, for some reason. Its uncanny how accurate that graph can be - Cmin for instance, is linked to sadness, while C#min is linked to despair and depression - and yes, there is a difference between those feelings. The melody makes me feel sad for some reason i havent figured out yet. But i like it, its catchy, and music is SUPPOSED to make us feel. Well done for everyone involved.
Im glad to see u suggest Discord, so at least it's not extinct lol. Honestly man, I put a lot of work into the creation of the server, and a lot of my own resources, and I really need mods to help me with maintaining it, someone halfway reliable, anyway. I've learned my lesson there.
And no, shoot as much info at me as u like, I can take it lol. I really love that Reese, man. And Reese Basses in general, I've rarely had a song in the last ten years that didn't have one in there somewhere. I also love bells lol. Some Common ground right there.
Your sound selection is great, man. It's a part of production that one doesn't really think about needing to be good at until the issue hits u in the face, and some never improve in that area - even some famous producers are bad with it, imo. I've been watching your progress a bit, I'm glad u stuck around and have settled in to the community. Many of these folks are the best breed of human I know, and I hope u feel the same way as u grow to kno them. Anyway, as my (many) friends in the kingdom say, Cheers.
Im always envious when u list ur instruments lol. Ibanez gear is underrated, in my opinion. I cant say the same for your work, my friend. It gets heaps of praise, aned it deserves every bit of it. This one is the very definition of chill, and sometimes, its just what a person needs, myself included. Most people are surprised when theyre around when I catch up on my listening - I listen to alot of different stuff, inspiration comes from everything. For me, anyway. I pity those who box themselves in. Thanks for sharing your work, man. It only benefits us all.
Hello Pnnywze, brother it's always a pleasure to have you check out a track I upload....it means a lot and it's appreciated....it helps so much to venture just a bit into other areas of music since it's all related. I've found so that I like just by listening a little to many styles and genres available....I don't plan to stop.....again I thank you for your comments and time.
Jeez man, Im so behind in my listening (along with everything else lol) We had 2 back to back blizzards followed by an ice storm - winter wonderland my ass, more like winter hellscape lol. and bah humb- oh dam Xmas is over. Well, Ill just growl in general then. Or I would, but its hard to be upset about anything wile Im listening to this one. Honestly my only critique is that it's too short lol. You just dont hear music like this much anymore, and you have to hunt real hard for it, even then. There's a little bit of Dub and Reggae in there, a bit of ska-era Sublime, a bit of last-call hour live band, and plenty of ingredients that are your own. You've come a long way, bro. You should be proud, I feel like what youve got going on now is what u should focus on the most - If u were aiming for something, then u hit it dead in the forehead. If not, well, then u have the best accident ever on ur hands lol. Really tho, well done, man. -well, as Rita would say - iIndtil vi ses igen
Hi Aaron, you keep on venting man if it makes you feel better. I'm pretty pissed off myelf at the moment with our so called political leaders, not much inspiration there. Anyway, I was having a few beers at a mates and snuck a look at my phone and saw this comment, which made my night. Means a lot man, it really does. This one seemed to come out real easy, not much aiming and not much conscious thought involved, which is often a good sign I think. Yeah, I love my dub and reggae but I was also trying to do afrobeat (check out Fela Kuti one day, if it doesnt get your ass moving there's something wrong) and a touch of electronic too. Pretty excited with a few I've got in the pipeline at the moment too actually. Anyway, have a good one and thanks. Chris.
Are u all never NOT on fire? lol. Really tho, you have proven your versatility many times, its impossible to guess what kind of song youll do next. I mean that, too. lol But I mean it in the best way. Thats why u guys are among my favorites, I always look to see if youve uploaded anything when i finally get a minute to listen to some stuff. Thats a minor achievement, but an achievement nonetheless lol. Btw tell oli to check for some links i sent him on Discord , He asked and so he recieved lol.
Thank you so much for your kind feedback - we r the story-tellling genre deniers, lol. Thoughts for new tracks are reggae and house beats - we will have to see, lol. I think I sent a msg thru the contact form and then Oli followed up in Discord, yes. We look forward to going thru the links, thank u sooo much ;)
Is Jersey Club making a comeback? Ive been hearing alot of it lately. Not that its a bad thing. Shit, lead the charge, man. U did well in capturing that still-early in the club vibe with this one.
I love Analog Lab, man. I have many preset packs for it, if u ever need any, besides the ones already on the discord. The downside for alot of folks is how RAM-hungry it is, Computer needs a little beef to run Analog Lab and more than 3 or 4 instances of other instruments. Mines good, for now. until the next version comes out and needs 2 gigs of ram on its own lol. Its close already. Ive been meaning to try Reaper a bit more, just to learn something different, hopefully ill get some freetime soon.
I like the sound selection here - What sound (s) are u using in particular, maybe i have it amidst the million presets Arturia throws at u lol.
Hi Aaron, first thanks for the listen and your comments. I can assist in reaper a little bit, using it for a year now and got the hang of it.
Arturio Analog Lab, Memory no issue yet, still having 8 of16 GB free.
Reaper starts slow when Analog Lab is used, it's "Arturia Software Center Agent" using a lot of CPU when Reaper starts and the reaper start that normally takes a few seconds (including VSTs) is taking 68 seconds (11 Analog Lab tracks). That alone is reason to reconsider to keep using Analog Lab.
I don't have processing issues using 10 AL tracks, no crackling due to audio card overload, this song never hits the upper CPU limit of 35%. But I must let you know that I allways force all VSTs to automatically by-pass on silence, hence no CPU usage when not playing.
I had the VST3 issue once that one track didn't produce sound after a Reaper start, switching off the FX and re-starting it solved the issue but makes it a bit unreliable, had the same whis Vital before, switched back to VST(dll) and never had the issue again. For safety I switched to 2-pass render.
The song:
Drums is done using Sitala(1) routing all outputs (32) to 16 seperate tracks for FX treatment (delay, reverb, panning, etc). 1 track is holding a synth that uses a audio sample of my grandson (ReaSamplOmatic5000) and 1 track holding some one-shots I created for a song with my grandson.
Song Analog Lab section split up:

01:49.090 - 02:43.636 Sequence: Equinox5.
01:49.090 - 02:52.727 Sound Effects: Fitzcarraldo - but EQ to bandpass only between 500 and 1500 Hz, leaving only the background sounds, blocking the synth sound.
01:52.727 - 02:43.636 Bass: Dark Reese + Bass: Buscar Bass.
01:56.363 - 02:43.636 Bass: Fluffy White Clouds.
02:38.181 - 02:58.181 Keys: Chattering Woodland - but EQ to filter out the synth sound leaving the bird chittering.
Totals:
18 drum tracks
10 Arturio Analog Lab Play tracks (max 7 active at the same time)
1 ReaSamplOmatic5000 track (+Linda Audio - Stargazer)
1 Vocal one-shots track (+Linda Audio - Stargazer)
Some effects applied to some drum instruments, pitch slide on the bells, limiter, etc.
I hope it wasn't to much info haha :-) Need more? Contact me on Discord.
Hey Anthony - I could see myself doing something with this lol. TBH Alot of your work has te blueprints of something i could see taking in my own direction. But thats inspiration for you - I try to inspire others as much as i can, as well. Im blessed that it has led to so many unique collaborations and Projects, I hope to see u do some collabs, man. Alof of interesting stuff waiting to be created, in my opinion. Nice work My friend.
