Super tight, I hear what you're saying by simple but to be honest, it's got a lot going on... your buttoned up production makes it pop. Great intro, funky fresh bass line, and the beat is on point. Great stuff.
I like what you've got going on here, pretty entrancing after a short while. Only constructive criticism is the bass washes out the high synths towards the beginning, would be interesting to see how to avoid this as much (sorry I'm no technical whiz so have no tips), and near the 3' mark when the dub style wobbles come in, might be impressive to hold off on the high synth for a bit to create a short of break (a bit repetitive throughout). Nice work though this is pretty cool ;) -DF
Nice melody, though the volume is low so I expected it break into the guts of the track at full levels about 30 seconds into it. I pictured a hard hitting break beat but got euro trance instead... no matter just personal anticipation. Overall a nice track, but I'd take a look at raising the master fader.
You're onto something, I really enjoyed the first half... nice production, choice of sounds and beat. However the latter part felt out of place to me, not that it's bad or anything, just not the same feel as the intro... less dark and more kid-friendly bubble gummy, a little like early 90s Nintendo theme music. Of course that might be exactly what you're going after. In which case, it's a wrap. Glad you uploaded and I hope my critique is not taken as negative. -DF
It's not negative at all, bro. The track is light in nature since my friend wants to have a superhero show where he's like The Flash. That's all I really know. I wasn't given a description of the character's persona. All I had to go off of was "...make it something like the live action Flash theme and Smallville theme with an electronica twist." So! That's exactly what I tried.
On more personal tracks though I have to get away from that video game sound. It's really crept into my work, and I consider a part of my style loving VG music to death; But I also want to get more out of my tracks and get complexity going like my girlfriend wants me to. She wants me to sound more like VNV Nation. So I'm going to have to try and find a balance between my simplistic, "cyberpunk" (that's loosely stated to mean punk's simplicity, structures and melodic playing a la electronica) and definitely layering more stuff up and escaping the purist video game sound without entirely losing myself in there somewhere.
I appreciate the kind words and honest opinions on this. Thanks for listening!
Quite nice, good ole trance always has a way to please, nice production... great build up, bangin stuff my friend keep this up! Thanks for the download -DF
I think DouglasS said it well. I enjoyed this much, liked the keyboard that comes in towards the end. The fast synth pads put me in a dreamy daze, nice creative work. -DF
Very nice production, dig the intro and how the beat kicks in. Length feels just right, the drums are entrancing, measured use of effects and synths was magnificently underwhelming. Terrific throughout thanks for sharing your talent -DF
Really glad I stumbled on this number, exquisite production and stylism... from the slow intro to killer bridge to quirky ending. I think the tune would do fine without the lyrics in the first portion and save the repeated phrase for an extended outro but just an idea. Best of luck getting this track picked up if not already, I realize this was uploaded quite some time ago. I will be keeping a lookout for you. -DF
Just got up, haven't even had my morning joe and this tune did the trick, whacked me upside the head and screamed good f'in morning! Love the creativity, deep rich synthesized wobble beats, sweet vox overlay, stunning work. -Jerome
Well done, this piece had my attention from the very beginning. The pace is laid back yet the sounds are powerful which makes for an interesting track -DF
Good quality track, I think you've done a great job at selecting instruments and beats over the a Capella. It's fine as is, no doubt, I would suggest next time around to slice/edit vocals more discriminately in order to avoid the repetitive nature of the hook, but it's a personal preference. -DF
Thanks bro.
Appreciate the constructive comment, I didn't wanna mess with the vocals too much because other wise I'd end up going to far and making it sound less special so I tried to stay away from editing it.
Appreciate the review and listen though man!
I can certainly appreciate a cinematic orchestral piece, especially with a hint of gangsta. My orchestral piece is Battle of Strings if you care to check it out, though no hip hop slant. Keep this creativity up. -DF
