Bloody intense! The jumbled voices in conjunction with that rhythm really does some weird things to my head - maybe a disclaimer? "Do not ingest if suffering from epilepsy or other seizures."

Don't know about the genre either - but this one is very, very cool.

thank you! you'd laugh to hear what this started out as.....pretty minimal. it just kinda started taking on a life of its own. so i just let it grow. and grow it did.or rather oozed up from the primordial muck. but thank you again for the kind words. bless!

on NOT Alone by priv8
For me, this started really happening shortly before the 1:00 mark. You've got a great voice, but when you start "to dance" vocally with the rhythm and around the melody of the bass line - Wow. It's happening.

on Tears of the Goddess by ShojoBeast
Hiya ShojoBeast!

I'm probably not the best to review this, as I helped a bit with mastering, but I really like this song! I think you've got a good ear for timing, and I love the transitions in this one. I also really love your melodies, and I'm a nut for tuned percussion so this is super fantastic.

For a first track uploaded onto looperman, I'd say you're off to a fantastic start!

Added to Faves!

Nice! This is really happening, Pagan! It feels like it's got roots in Post-Industrial music, and with the rhythms really makes a guy compelled to shake it while listening.

I love the "noise" as music stuff you've got going on here. You've got a good sense of timing and transitions, too. Lately, this kind of music is what I just can't seem to get enough of.

Thanks for posting it! Added to faves (1st review gets a fave - that's gotta be a good sign.)

Cheers

on Vampire: A Love Song by minette
Everyone's heard of double and triple agents - did you know that Uncle Al was playing this role for at least 6 govs. during WWII?

I still think The Book of Lies should be required reading for anyone interested in spiritualism. "I whispered in his ear this secret/A sucker is born every minute."

Another of yours added to my faves.

Smooth, indeed. There's a nice sense of fusion going on here, and a good flow as well. I'm with PBJ, that shift happened just when I was wanting it.

Good stuff (and a Great Title attached to it!).

on Life Be In It by profplum
The redemption of Disco - I wouldn't have guessed it possible, but I'm delighted to hear you've done it.

The arrangement is really nice. A bit more thump in the bass would make it stronger, but the Spirit in this one is fantastic. And in music, the Spirit of the Thing carries far more importance than technical sophistication.

"Life Be In It" really grows on you, too. On my third replay, I was compelled to hit the fave button. I'm looking forward to hearing this again already!

Nice one. Cheers!

on The Summit by ULTRAPHONICS
Love the bass and rhythm a lot in this! Especially, how both elements work as the piece builds. In looking at Numberjack's recommendation, I'm thinking if you do pull up the synth, don't do it too much. I love how you let this be primarily rhythm based. Works really well. Cheers.

A melancholic, happy song - how strange. Like memories of a friend you've lost touch with.

I really like this! The melody is beautiful, and the percussion suits it perfectly.

And it really grows on you with each listen! The emotion is so sincere, so universal, that I have to fave it on my 3rd play.

Thank you!

Edgy while simultaneously highly whimsical. Music you can easily dance to that's got teeth.

on Why Did I Top 5 by CelloCubano
I just listened to "Why Did I - BonesRecordz (optym doesn't know mix)" by optym, and had to hear what he'd been inspired by.

The field recording at the beginning is perfect, and foreshadows the emotional Zone the listener's about to occupy.

You're absolutely right in your response to AnomalyJ. This song is a great example of both how and why.

Added to faves. Thanks.

on Let it go (Nico) by Nicooo
Nice fusion happening here. Good beat, and I like the effects you're adding to the organ. If this was my track, I'd try adding a little delay and reverb to the sax, too.

Good vibe here. Playing with music is so much fun, isn't it?

on Blues For Pac-Man by JackTripper
Yeah man, I've been reading up on the branches of musical genre, and this really emphasizes how Ambient is an offshoot branch of Post-Industrial.

Great repetition, and really good in creating an emotional atmosphere.

Sweet.

thanks man... to be honest, the whole genre thing always throws me for a loop so i figured this fit best in ambient... but i definitely see your point about the industrialishnessitude. (of course that's a real word, i just said it. :P)

on Feel My Love by d2d
The first of what I suspect will be many reviews for this track.

This is good. Dance music can be silly, because it's all about getting out of your head and into your body. Case in point: have you ever watched a young republican try to dance?

The vocals in this really work. Slightly reminiscent of Tom Tom Club. Anyway, there's a sonic element that the female voice adds here that really pushes it in the right direction.

Really well done! Cheers.

"have you ever watched a young republican try to dance?" LOL! freakin awesome visual and great point.
Compared to the REAL dance music on this site, I honestly feel this track is kinda weak. The vocals, voices and message make it interesting.
Thanks for the review!

on Ambient Heal by KAMPUTERA
I was in the mood for an ambient piece, and am really glad I chose this one to listen to.

I really like the arrangement. The texturing you do behind everything else gives it a dimension that really works. Meditation music with a beat. I like that.

Cheers.

on jfw and victormusic01x cinematic update jan 17 by victormusic01x
An evolutionary leap?

This instantly is my favorite from your collection to date.

Neo-Post-Industrial Dance musick, maybe? Dance music for displaced semi-nomadic urban aborigines?

Infectious beat, edgy bordering on sinister. So impressive.

Faved.

Masterfully done.

on And of Diviner Love by FallingFrogs
When I read the description, I thought "Elsie," and then "what?" I actually wrote a bit on Stevens in my Graduate Comprehensive exam.

"Poetry is the supreme Fiction, madame.
Take the moral law and make a nave of it
And from the nave build haunted heaven."

Good stuff.

This track reminds me of On-U-Sound (not Tackhead, but related work) so much that I faved it before the 1/2 way mark.

You've got a new fan!
FallingFrogs
FallingFrogs replied Unknown
You as MY fan? Wow, that's something.

WRT Mr. Stevens, you're speaking my language, brother. He remakes language. (Just take that "nave" line, for example; one could write 10 pages on that alone and still fail in a complete explication - the play on words between "nave" and "knave", the cross aspect, etc. - But I digress.) I actually set his entire poem ("To the One of Fictive Music") to music. That done, I was then freed to deconstruct it and rob the very bones from his grave to build my own skeleton. Well, so it always is; time makes us all Oedipuses.

As for the age point you made in another review - probably. Ugh. And so much yet to do!

Anyway, so nice to connect with you through music. I'm mesmerized by your stuff - recognize the massive heavylifting and delicate finesse that went into it - and look forward to lots more listens.

on Dance of Pain by FallingFrogs
After checking your profile, I'm pretty sure we're closer in age than not. This track really reminds me of that time frame where the first Post-Industrial music was reacting to Industrial.

I love Noize as Musick. As music really is an emotional language, there are statements that controlled noise can make that's only achievable this way. Yes, this one expresses that emotional location encompassing anger, bitterness, depression, and desperation, and with the right movement, could certainly bring a cathartic experience.

Nice one!

on Tonight, on the horizon by minette
Brilliant. The layering of vocals gives this an ambiance that's really compelling. I really love the simplicity of the percussion in this as it adds an intensity that really sets of the vocals. The octave split at the end of this actually made the hair on the back of my neck stand up - a very rare thing.

Another added to my faves.
