Perfect.. I think the rhythm chunking riff could have been a little more on time(0:58 to 1:12)... But if I just zoom out and listen to the whole composition.. It's fine.
I also tend to like my guitar more saturated and overdrived (But not insanely, I am not always one of those guitarist ;)..
but that is just my personal opinion.
Yup.. Love it!
Especially like that yearning feel to the lead.. It just feels like you want to scream and reach out!!!
By far my favorite of all your tracks.
I dig your style man.
As far as "all along the watchtower" goes.. Maybe, but it's just the progression.. But then when you listen to the whole, I only faintly feel it.. Not like you were ripping it off AT ALL.
WTF>... YOUR SECOND ATTEMPT AT DIGITAL RECORDING!?!!!!
WOW.
Hello Abe,
So it looks like you have listened to maybe all my songs but one. I'll have to listen to some more of yours to catch up on with regards to reviews. lol
Now you'll have to remember, this is an all loop venture. I didn't play on this one...I just re-arranged the parts (loops) and put the song together the way I wanted to hear it.
So the guitar sounds/tone you hear are what the original artist/loop maker did.
It was fun to do and I'll do a few more of these types. I have an Inde loop disk I bought and work from that. Gives my fingers a rest. :-)
Many big studios also work from loops disk to fill in parts they need in a song. Since I don't play drums, I use loop disk for most of my songs unless it is something simple, and then I do the drum part from the keyboard.
'Pro Tools' is a professional program and has lots to it. It has taken me over 6 months to learn and I just recently finished the 960 page manual. But, you don't have to use all the program has to offer as it shows several ways to accomplish the same results.
Other good programs that are deep are Sonar, Cubebase, Sound Forge, to mention 3 that come to mind. Not sure how difficult 'Acid Pro' is.
Okay, thanks for listening to this song and reviewing.
Randy
Hi Again Abe,
Thanks for reviewing this song. Yeah, slide is fun and I usually use open tunings, as it's hard to try and chord and play at the same time for me.
As for what each style means...actually nothing in particular. I know there are several styles of Blues you can play and so I was just trying to capture some different styles along the way.
I often run out of ideas to put in it and thus many of my songs are too short. So this is a way of lenghtening them. lol
The first Blues song I made, 'Blues 101', I did for a friend as he requested a blues song. But he didn't say slow or fast, so I did both in that one.
Using software to record tracks instead of a Mixer, you have complete control and can make many adjustments to the sound. Reverb, EQ, Compression, and many other effects you can add in easily without buying expensive hardware.
Then when done, you play the song many times and listen to each track separately and then together one by one with each other to make sure it all blends in properly.
So it takes me about a month or more to produce the quality in a song I like.
Great medely and combination of guitar sounds. Great textures contrasting each other, and cool lol coool riffs. That is cool.
How many times did you want to pull your hair out retuning your twelve string?? I have a fender 12 string acoustic that is my nemisis guitar lol... Yours sounds like a strutting bar fighter to me... Strong cocky and all over the place. Does she have a name? Or give you much grief??
Medleys are everywhere, but this show cases a bunch of great stuff. You have like 15 awesome songs... wow, talk about time management!
Hmmm... I do and don't like the drums.. But for what it is.. It's really impressive.
Hi there Abe,
Glad you got around to check out my other songs. I only have 5 songs done at the moment as I work alot.
On this 12 string, I tuned it down to a 'D' chord as it is easier on the neck and finger pressure is less... and just capo it up to wherever I want it.
It is a newer one, so no problems with tuning.
I don't have a name for the guitar actually.
As for the drums, I wanted to try a double bass drum set and it seemed to fit okay. I liked the sound, but double bass or kick is made for heavy metal usually. A lot of 'click' to it.
Thanks for the review,
Randy
That's the thing about style. I consider myself to ecclectic. I have this thought, that we as artsits go above and beyond to try to have our own voice, our own "style". I really truely admire the big names that have their own style and their own signature sound, if you will. People like NIN for instance. I will be the first to admit, I draw inspiration from Trent Reznor. He's a world class musician, with his OWN style. You can almost hear ANY Nine Inch Nail song, and instantly know who it is. He's got a style and brand all his own, and everytime they come out with a new album, the same style is there, but I gurantee, there is something there that HASN'T been heard before. I admire that, and I repsect that. That's hard to achieve these days, when nearly everything has already been done. I really appreciate the review and the fav. I guess you could say that I'm more experimental than anything else. I like to try to infuse sounds, into a style all it's own.
thanks so much man, really appreciate that comment, but record labels dont look for producers, they look for singers, just look at this site... how many people make music? and how many of us sing good??
peace
mouko
yup.
I like the overdubs.
I just like aggression, and this is plenty aggressive.
I just think the vocal moved a couple milliseconds before the beat might sound better.
Yah... Nothing is wrong with your playing
this mix is cool.. how it started out sedated and then BAM!
IS THIS ALL YOU!!!??
wow... Great all round... Lyrics, because country music is like the beatles on STERIODS to me.. if you get over the fact that it is throaty and twangy and slidey..
Man that is cool. It is straight up air in the hair country.
I like this.. I like country.
I love metal more.. but wow..
If you had lyrics with content, you would have a job here!

I have a country song in that goes Bminor, with a cool C chord embelishment to A major with embelishment, and when you have some time, I want to send it to you....
Hi there,
Thanks for the kind review and am glad you also like country music. Basically I am using Windows XP and not a MAC. Altho a lot of people do use MACS for graphics and music.
I am playing all the parts except drums and fiddle. I used loops for those. But, I play and own all the other instruments as shown in my profile.
Sure you can send me that song you have and I'll see what I can do with it when I get some free time. As long as your not in a big hurry I mean.
In another song I did...Altern-rock, now that was all loops. But the other songs are me playing and ocassionally some help on the faster guitar parts from a friend.
I know that if I had a good vocalist, things would sound so much better.
Thanks again,
Randy
Holy crap I like this!
Man, you really nailed a ominous feeling in me here.
It feels like apocalypse aftermath, and scrounging for food song.
There's a very interesting mix of peace and calm, but straight up fear.
Your bass sounds really good.
I am still in awe about the mix of moods here.
FAVORITISM!!
Dude that is FUCking COOL. And this is ORIGINAL and Art.
I have only heard two of your tracks but promise to hear some more.
My buddy worked for playstation in SF, and he hated it .. but they could use sound guys, but I heard it isn't fun work.. This is going back to school or music biz thing we were talking about earlier.
I seriously hear you mixing movies... I think you obviously do to. er.. yah. retarded comment...
This is the best reply to a response I have ever gotten, by far.
Yah, apparently the priest that said america is evil, his name was that name.. regardless.. lol.. fucking awesome bro!
But back to the track.
Well, I could normalize.. but.. dude, you know what you want. I think the mix is too quiet... can I mess with???
Your overdubs are hella cool. I am watching your movie.
How do you get these great fill-ins?
What program? I have always wished I could sample TV, or Movies, and I found a 60 dollar program but..
What is this crazy amount of commentary you have?
It is GREAT! Original.
I dig it a lot.
Seems a lil' quiet...
I googled Earl Houston and got Barock Obama... lol
hmmmmm.....
AWESOME SONG.
the fill ins come from three different places, i didnt know they had a program, that would make life way easier. but yeah, i get the wavs from youtube, jimmyrigg them myself, and moviewavs.com. if you go to listentoyoutube.com you can upload the url of any video and it will the mp3 from the video. and then when i jimmyrigg it i play the movie and put a speaker to a mic (or vice versa, haha) and record that, i found if you cover a mic with some sort of material you get a higher quality of sound. i have only used each system once, its alot of work. i like doing things like this because i want to do music for video games or movies and i imagine if i can capture the feel of lines in a game or movie i might be good at it, yeah its unoriginal but its so much fun.
the commentary has a random story to it. i beat silent hill origins a while back and one of the alternate endings is that you turn out to be the butcher, which is this games pyramid head, and youve been running around killing people in your own little world, i came out to tell my bro, and he was replaying fable and was fighting some balverines, then it hit me, a trucker who thinks hes killing werewolves while on his travels across the U.S.A, we thought of an awsome trucker name, Earl Houston was born, and bam.. the reason it was quiet in some parts was because i started recording early, and by the end of the night everybody was asleep i didn't want to take everyone up. i tried pumping the volume on the wav, but it became distorted.
most of my songs have a crazy story to it, like i imagine everbodys does.
but yeah dude thanks for the review, i imagine were kind of alike in the humor department, and barock obama, wow thats funny. holy shit i wrote alot
Some of these are great names Neptune is a great name i wonder if it's fitting anyway i will listen ya + i think i will be stealing mannana mata too i have interest in spanish ^^
Thx mate
Wow.. did not expect any of these sounds to be together.
But it makes sense.
I agree with Mr.e expand that, it will only add to the effect
but just on tempo, don't lose that tempo.
I would like to hear the synth connect the pieces together more too. like .. as the synth is hanging in the back, is there a way to phase it in and out of the frequencies so it accents the changes?
that's called midi. when you take the piano and plug in... to the .. computer.
did you use Fruity loops? or.. Ableton?
The drum beat is a loop then? meh...
Damnit you use Reason!
I like ableton wayy more than fruity loops.
I am gonna go buy this Reason thing lol..
either way... I want to hear more from you.
I really like your style man..
Nice spacing and pace. damn..
Mastering is taking the frequencies of all included and preparing it for the ear man! All sound does is vibrate the air, and vibrate your ear. Mastering is kind of like.. science and music...
regardless.. This is great..
I just think I could make it sound real, by widening the frequencies with programs..
No I used reasons4.0 I never heard of Ableton. You mean a midi controller keyboard? Looks like keyboard piano thing? As much as I would love to have one of those nope i did it all with the click of the mouse. I used two loops making the track. The dusty rhodes, and congo drum loop. the rest is all me. Thank you for listening.
I always feel this way with stuff with fruity loops. The instruments, besides the drums and obvious synths, always sound synthesized!.. imagine SLAP doing some horn work on this TRACK!
Check out slap and send him a message about playing some horns on here!!! NOW THAT WOULD BE A COLLAB!!!
But I like that.
Its not always a great idea to hit that 0 Db level.. the cymbals are fine bro..
ITS about the levels of your mixes.
What is you DAW err your program..
This is fucking cool dude. I like it A lot. Keep that in mind.
Back to the issue.
You are clipping what is digitally capable of being reproducing.
so it gets compressed, sound is a wave that vibrates air. You have a lot of SOUND. why is this happening? I dunno.. did you manually fix the levels so it would accent just the oboe? that's where I think its coming from...
As sound gets louder, it can't come out of the speakers like you may hear it from your speakers (seriously). Sometimes, the cymbals actually will cancel out the bass!! For example, if you take two sounds, and INVERT the wave, and then play them at the same time in stereo sound... it creates SILENCE!! Why? I DON'T KNOW. it's amazing, and should be taken into account because it is fucking up your track a lil bit.
Sometimes.. and I don't know what you are using... u sometimes need to sacrifice hard drive space and save multiple takes of one song. Listen to them a lot. (We all do this lol) but listen to them on winamp, then itunes. then zune, then burn it to cd, listen to it with headphones! The car test is the final one.. if it sounds good in your car, then fuck the nay-sayers.
I actually do that on this site, and just upload the finished idea later... (BUT I Am NOT A MASTER MIXER. I just have two ears)
Don't be afraid to mess with the mixes of each individual track.
The oboe dude, the oboe.. something is going on there.
Wow! Thanks for the great info! I've actually only mixed by ear up until now. I've started paying attention to the clipping meter(?). I use Reason 4.0 and a Yamaha 'board. Thanks again, great info!

You have incredible talent.
