Cheers mate. darkreine and I did it together. Recorded all the instruments in live so that is why it has a live feel to it. Re-Mastered it as it is a bit bad.

Hey man, you're the real deal you know. When a part didn't fit, you just went off and played it again!!

Wayne's probably right about the mix, perhaps someone else would like to master it.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Since we have been discussing waveforms in the forums, might as well take a look at this one. : ) In my opinion, it looks a bit over compressed and sounds a bit flat. If you cut back on the compression you will start to hear the kick drum and snare start to pop out a bit more and the acoustic will sit better and well, everything else will stand out more. There isn't much dynamics here and it almost sound distorted. Now I'm just giving you some constructive criticism, don't hate me, lol!!

Cool track, it has everything in a track I love, acoustic guitars, cool lead fills, great singing and catchy beat. And it's a great collab as well so congrats on that too. I think you could get a smoother sounding mix, that's all!

This is absolutely amazing. The weather outside my window is dreary and cold, so when I played this I got goosebumps and shivers! It has such a dark but beautiful? grace to it. Love it!

Thank You AliRoseCol, glad you enjoyed it. Dreary and cold here too but warm and cheerful in the house with my family.

This is a great relaxing tune! You've done an excellent job! I know ableton can be a little tough to learn, but it seems like you've got a great start! Well done!

That made me feel like I was listening to a movie soundtrack. I really want to hear what it would sound like with the screams.

Also are you gona make a second part to it? Like what happens when the fallen angel gets help or the weird creatures find her?

Stories by music = )

ElectronBlue replied 26th May 2013 - 12 years ago
Thanks StrawHat dude. I would like to hear it with the girly scream also but no takers yet. I tried it but nearly gave my self a hernia lol. I am working on part 2.

Thanx Xmafax good to get comments from experienced producers like yoour self that turn out fantastic work as it gives me more confidence to try harder and practice my guitar and keyboard more often. I spend way to much time on the PC learning how to use it, Ableton and the darn hardware controllers.

This is so trippy...i love it!

I love the fact that you gave me pictures in my mind,by telling us what this creation was trying to convey!.

I think you've captured your thoughts superbly!

This is an Atmospheric, haunting journey that had me hooked from start to finish,i hope you now make the film lol

Very good work!

If I had the sound your looking for,i would more than willingly give to you.!

Maybe i will do my trouser zip up real fast with lack of attention, and catch that moment as my angel gets trapped, lol

Great Work!

Thanks brillbilly for the great comment and NO I will not be making the film lol because I am skint. Unless you want to loan me a few Million? OMG I did that once when I was drunk in a pub and it don't half hurt. I bled for a week LOL. I remeber pulling it up and I instantly sobered up. It took me about half an hour to get the courage up to pull it back down lol! Mean while all my mates just stood there laughing themselves silly in the toilet.

Hello ....

Be careful, my friend at that you ask .... because the voice of an angel can be the voice of a demon in disguise .... Apart from this, a music extraordinaite here .... and you have created a very strange atmosphere .... and very tormented.

Thank you VickyDan. The tormented strange atmosphere is what I was aiming for so I am glad you heard that as it means I achieved my goal. Scary comment about the angel demon thing in disguise. I won't sleep tonight lol.

Yes, the very first piece of music I have ever composed on a pc using software. was hard work playing in the keyboard and guitar and getting the recording right but I managed it in the end mistakes and all lol. Still plodding on and learning but I will get there. Thanks for the kind words and I am glad you enjoyed it.

well, according to your various beauty loops which I've downloaded before some of those instructive(for me) loops by 12string ,today just when in a randomized search I found a track from you, there was no doubt for me that I would enjoy it,and I had guessed right & really enjoyed it. cool, gentle, calm & warm(althought also chillout) & for me Instructive like your beautifull loops.best wishes & regards.___Behnam.

Beautiful song, I enjoyed listening to this very much. Hey a stupid short term memory improvement trick. We have better spatial memory than cognitive memory. That's why we remember where we have been and how things should look when we walk outside. Associate a concept with a place. Like a Guitar phrase with the corner store. Or A Chord structure with your neighbours fence. You will find you can recall a bit easier that way.
Cheers

Thanks crucethus for your kind comment much appreciated. Yea having a stroke really sucks but I am getting over it and improving all the time. My memory is improving a little but the damage is done lol. But hey! I get to play on it at my convenience if something dose not suit me. I might have a short memory span but I am not stupid lol.

Hey 12 String...great chilled out groove happening here man, pretty blissed out vibe all the way through, with some very tasty guitar as well!...Ableton is my DAW of choice and I love it..the arrangement view is where an old school muso like yourself will find his true home, the linear aspect of it is just fantastic and you can see your whole track mapped out with a plethora of control options....I won't go into specifics obviously, session view is cool as well..a lot of people only use that....anyway great to see another Ableton fan on the Loop! cheers Dave

Wow, coming from you I feel well praised indeed. I agree Ableton is great but hard to learn for an old timer like me lol. Love all the controls and instruments though. The Amp section is great. Midi is great. The loops section is something completely new to me but is a complete blast being able to put in a loop and just move it about with other loops and just create a completely new sound. Having said that it's not my music. But still Amazing! I still like just jamming along to a drum beat though with my guitar and keyboard. I am going to try harder to record a loop of my guitar and keyboard twiddly bits even though it messes up my train of thought and stops the flow of music and see what comes up. You got the old school bit right LOL hahahah

Was that like four weeks twenty four seven? For a first track using a DAW as complicated as Ableton you should be very proud of the result. What you have achieved here is a song that is very pleasant to listen to. The mix is very well balanced. Looking forward to hearing more from you. :)

ElectronBlue replied 23rd Mar 2013 - 12 years ago
Cheers fixxxer. Erm, yes, just about lol. I am retired after having had a stroke that left me with no short term memory so lots of time to mess about and try to get things right. I think I do about 8 hrs a day if I don't get too tired or my brain don't hurt lol. It will take me a while to learn it though because the day after I will have forgotten most of what I learned the day before lol.

I'm impressed 12string, I couldn't even get any sound out of Ableton, and now use the CD to scare off the birds in my garden, hahaha.

Seriously though, it is impressive that you were able to record this after only 4 weeks. Like Ed, I like something a bit simpler for my tunes, more plug and play. I'm no good with a computer, so the less I have to do, the better off I am.

Anyway, really smooth track that I would put in the chill genre. A great way for me to wind down at the end of the day. I liked your guitar and synth work on this one. Well done.

Thanks "shortbusmusic" for your kind comment. lol @ the birds comment I am sure it wasn't that bad but at least the birds get to enjoy it. I know what you mean as I had a few disasters before I posted my first bit of a try with ableton. Ableton is not like Sonar or Cubase that's all linear and you just arrange it as you go. Once I can figure out how to arrange things better I will re post it. Also the track has an annoying blip sound and I can't figure out where it came from. I don't think I could ever reproduce the flute track as I was just jamming along with the flute sound on my synth to the rest of the track. You know how it is so I hope I don't mess thing up. The guitar part is boring so I am going to work on that and try to make it a little more interesting, mabe a little acoustic fingerpicking.

Hey, this is pretty cool, 4 weeks using Ableton and you are putting tracks like this together. I just switched to Ableton full time and it is pretty amazing. Once you make your scenes you can hit the global record and whatever scenes you "play" live get recorded in arrangement view. In that view you can move the blocks around, duplicate and remove blocks and arrange the song any which way you want to. You tube tutorials are the way to learn a lot.

Good luck, have fun!

Thanks for the feedback theHumps much apreciated. I just learned that you can copy and paste and move the blocks around. It can be confusing at first. I need to learn about automation now and I just might get the hang of this baby. yes Ableton is amazing once you know how to use it. It has quite a steep learning curve. Thanks for the youtube tip. I had a look on youtube and there are some good lessons. Should keep me going for a while.
