this is great man I love the intro esp that chord stab how did you get that sound?
FreeRadical
FreeRadical replied 13th Sep 2014 - 11 years ago
Glad you enjoyed it. The chord sound came from a loop pack called "Da sun lounge" which i bought from loopmasters. In fact most of the sounds came from their so this track is a bit of a cheat really but there you go.
Thanks again for dropping by.

oh man...that big low down bass around 5:28 is great stuff FR...I like it to man....even if my old school goes back a couple more decades that this one....nicely done...Ed

Thanks ed, it's mainly all just loops and only took a few hours to knock together. I should spend more time on tracks but i just can't be bothered these days. I've sort of lost my incentive just lateley but i'm glad you could drop by and give it a listen.

nice to hear that chill progression and those retro studio strings. i didn't realize how much I loved this style and how much I've missed it. what's retro about the middle and end parts - the effects?
FreeRadical
FreeRadical replied 10th Sep 2014 - 11 years ago
Yeah the middle and the end parts might not be as old school sounding as the beginning but i reckon most of my stuff sounds like it's from the 90's so i figured i'd just call it that. Anyhow, glad you could drop by for a listen. The piece only took me a few hours so i'm pleased so many have already commented on it.
Thanks again.

Cool sounds here man! That string arounds 0:31 reminds me of TV Show 'Merlin'. Intro in that show is very similar to your melody... However this is very good work, I like it! :)

Cheers, it only took a few hours to knock together so i'm not looking to win any prizes with it. Pure coincidence that it sounds like Merlin as i've never watched the show.

Diggin' the house FR style! I'm lovin the first part of this track. The intro reminds me of Kraftwerk's Tour de France and anything that reminds me of KW is a hit with me :) Like how everything comes together. The second part is ok, but not as fun as the first. But I know FR likes him some long tracks so a fade out at 5:25 probably wasnt an option, lol.

Enjoyed your house track as usual.

Cheers Renz, It only took me a few hours to knock together so perhaps it could do with a bit more detail going on in places. It's just nice to have "finished" something at last. Been a while since i last posted.
PS dig the new avatar, looks much better.

Looooooong song...A lot of nice stuff going on, some Major flavor in the vocal
narration...Is that your voice, the deep one...?
Because the others you can tell they are spots, very cool mix as well...
Kinda lost me, going into the end though but it came alive again at the end...

Cool track solid piece of work...

Peace...TG.

FreeRadical replied 7th Sep 2014 - 11 years ago
No i don't do vocals so it's all just sampling and looping really. It only took me a few hours to knock it together so i'm not expecting to win any awards with it. It's just the first thing i've finished for a while so i figured i might as well post it.
Thanks for dropping in and leaving comments.

"A-Buzz A-Buzz A-Buzzing like them killer bees"... had to get back to you regarding that. It's from The Cure, their song "The 13th"... http://www.songlyrics.com/the-cure/the-13th-lyrics/ Very cool song. I love 90s music still after all this time, and The Cure's album "Wild Mood Swings" is so under-rated. All their albums are original, but I've never heard anything like that one. 1996 was such a strange year for music, everyone was high on acid and having an evolution moment, then things went to shit in pop culture. Can't say why your mix made me think of those lyrics, as I totally didn't listen to your style of music back then. Probably should have though. Listening to your mix again as I type, and its really groovy! Hope you are well today!
FreeRadical
FreeRadical replied 7th Sep 2014 - 11 years ago
The Cure were one of my favourite bands when i was at school so i'm familiar with the song. I think "kiss me kiss me kiss me" was my favourite album but there's so many to choose from it's hard to pick a winner. 1996 was a pretty crazy year for me. Far too many drugs and nightclubs (was a good time thinking about it) As for being well, i'm ok if not a little fed up with being signed off work (been six months now and it gets pretty boring sometimes)
But you're right. I have no idea why this made you think of the cure as it doesn't bare any resemblence that i can pick out lol.
Glad you could drop by and blast this one as i was pretty pleased with how it turned out.
Cheers.

Hey FR

Surprised I hadn't gotten to this one before, could really see this going off in a night club, brilliant clarity and arrangement my friend, liked the vocal, sort of was left waiting for more to come in later in the mix, but never arrived which was a little bit of a downer:(
Listening to this tune dude, makes me want to have another go at this genre, a genre I haven't done for many years now, even though I do like doing the genre, so maybe next few weeks will give it a go...impressive man...FAV'D...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...

Yes it's long, but that gives you more time to listen. Fantastic, very catchy and the only criticism is just the background noise on the bass intro but that dissipates when the drums kick in. Love it.

Regards,
Paul.

Sorry about the late reply, i bust my lap top and only just got it fixed. Glad you enjoyed the track. I'm a little annoyed that there's noise on the bass as it was a purchased loop and they're supposed to sound clean. Ah well, shit happens i suppose. Thanks again for dropping by.

Groovy pumpin mix you've done here! That "you call that fckin nasty" sample I've totally heard that somewhere before... cna't put my finger on it though... something I've listened to a lot. Very uplifting progression throughout, I dig it! Nice quality sound, and the stereo field is pretty cool too! Was a good ten minutes, and now I'm ready to do some cleaning. Fave!

Speaking of feeling love, I will tell what I find to always love about your tracks FR: you get it. Which seems like a pompous thing to say perhaps, but I'll take that risk. Time and time again I listen to tracks (from new artist) labeled as 'Deep House', and I walk away wondering why they think that is what deep house is. It's strange.
Nevertheless my friend, fantastic job and keep doin your thing.
FreeRadical
FreeRadical replied 6th Sep 2014 - 11 years ago
First of all, sorry for the late reply. I busted my lap top and only just got it fixed. Yeah i know what you mean about folks getting the deep house category wrong. I find a lot of tracks in the wrong genre and it makes me laugh that people don't really know what they're making.
Anyway, cheers for dropping in and saying that i "get it". That's a great comment to receive.
Thanks again.

Hi FR

I can never resist listening to your tracks as I know it's going to be a journey I shouldn't miss. This is great and I just love the changes your make to the instrumentation and the way you structure your sections. Lovely vocal line too. Nice build up and so rhythmic - can't help but dance. Great work.

Hey FreeRadical,

This is seriously tight man! At 4:00 especially everything is mixed superbly and its a really listenable track. Vocals are also mixed in really well.
I can't really find any criticism or advice to give you on this track! Radio worthy.
All the best,
George
