hi again,
yes, I agree with you and actually am enjoying this raw sounding jam session... Your guitars and vocals have this laidback and improvisational feeling in this song... I just tried to speculate somehow about the possibilities to re-arrange it...
But agree with you that 'overproducing' is not quite good here...
Great guitars - I like them a lot as well the vocals!
Alex
Alex,
TY for that man, you just made my day. The vocals were the last component I added on this mix as I had been toying around with it daily while focussing on an Amy Winehouse (RIP) feel. I am glad it worked out as this was my first serious Jazz attempt in 38 years of guitar playing (and singing since as long as I can remember).
I am considering focussing on a Jazz project for a while…I would love to add harmonica to it on a song ( I kept hearing harmonica on this song but didn't want to steal and of my Les Paul's groove).
Mark.
hi, really creative work in here - I like it a lot.
I think the composition has also lot of power and thought you might add maybe some other layer or instrument at 1:34 (second chorus) and I suggest you to managing better with all the layers you already have... that could bring even more creativity and space to the song... But this is only my subjective experience because the song is really great and does not necessary need anything...
The choir at the end stands out a bit stylistically but still very nice concept to make such an original outro...
I much appreciate a very creative work and multi- instrumental work you did here.
Greetings,
Alex
I appreciate your input but I wanted a sort of live raw sound in this piece…I also wanted to keep it simple and not busy at all. To me, Jazz is best when it's slow grooving.
This is different from your works, not just it's called jazz by you...
This is a moody, tasty, full felt song with many attitude from the guy who plays rock incredibly well...
Everything is perfect here...instruments, vocs, mix, production...
Epic guitar tones and serious reverb. Great sound.
You have a lot of character to your voice. It always strikes me as something that would be good for kids to get into rock music. I mean this with much respect, and it's a good thing. Your voice is animated and capturing. Very professional. You would make it fun.
Thought I'd go out the norm today, even though I dig any music done skillfully. I gotta co worker whose into country(that's literally all he plays in his car) and some tunes are actually pretty relaxing. They also have pretty good lyrics. But this one is really good man, pro sounding production. Vocals are spot on in the mix. Very good, peace
I agree with PJT, your mixes are sounding nice Mark. I like the laid back country rock feel to this. The sliding vocals are cool. Lots to like here, well done!
Your vocals always reminds me of Drive-By Truckers.
This was a good song, I liked all parts, I wish there was more of a variety in the way the verses were sung. I pretty much had heard each verse after the first one, they don't differ much besides lyrics. Kinda got old.
That's my beef with a lot of blues though, too, so it may just be me. 20 seconds of a blues song and you've heard all the parts, minus an 8 bar guitar solo.
It sounds good ...it feels good...and it is good...really like this one Mark...I`m into acoustic these days (although I just sold my Martin to a guy who loved it more than me) so this one fills the bill really well...Ed
I love your voice. Smooth play on the guitar and the lyrics are so good. Did you write them? Such a great beat. Thank you for sharing. Such a rare gem to find here on looperman.
nice to find an acoustic from U Mark !
a pure & original acoustic song , heartY ( this life withouT ..) singing of yours , another nice lyriX & that 12 string guitar which makes me remember I wished to have once buT music & me left eachother & I never had a 12 string for myself...
thnx for sharing your tallents & ,take care Mark.___B
Outstanding. The sound of the guitar is "professional": clean, with the right amount of dynamic and very natural.
Your voice works very well in this environment.
And the lyric is also good.
Superb song all around!
Ciao, Domenico
What a neat, simple ( meant in a good way) track, lovely mellow vocal and backing and great instrumentation, love the bass in the background leaving the acoustic strings shining through. Nice work.
Hey Mark & Kyle....you guys could convert me to country....the way you do it is so close to Folk the difference doesnt matter...great work on the harmonies...but like all good songs of the genre it starts with the lyrics & the way they are delivered...and you do it well boys...I would maybe run a little bass in the mix but I can sure do without it....Bravo guys....more....Ed
Whoa Mark you are killing it in this track. I absolutely love the music. The vocals are very crisp and sit out front. Love the lyrics. Overall you did a fantastic job on this. Keep it up, this is good stuff. We should try to collab on a country track sometime, its my favorite genre so I have been working on writing a lot more country tunes.
