Hey great topic, good song , I totally get the mic thing, it's so hard to record vocals without a good one.

It's called Moral Awe and has vox clips of the late great Betrand russel giving us perfectly sound secular advice on how we should conduct our daily lives.
thanks for the nice sounds

Oh yeah, I love the electronic percussion in this! Drum machines are so fun, especially since they all pretty much have their own sound. I'm curious, which machine did you use for this? I can hear what crucethus was speaking of regarding the undefined bass line, but at the same time this isn't the heavy bass sort of track I suppose. Could try cutting the inaudible sub frequencies from the bass, and maybe boosting a frequency centered around the fundamental or something. I like to do a cut around the mids (like 600 Hz or so) even if I'm not boosting the lower stuff. Seems to allow a volume boost on the bass while leaving room for other parts of the mix. Just trying to help, so don't worry. I do love the song! It's pleasant and makes me happy! Fine work! Fav'd!
You are a man of many talents, including the ability to sing. I enjoyed this. As both Wayne and Doudei said, you can always go back and redo the vox, but I have to say I thought it sounded pretty good.
I really liked your instrumental work as well. You always have great compositions. Very nicely done.
Hey, this sounds pretty good, cool beat, kinda chilled out pop. I like the lyrics and the message here, totally get it. I understand you used an inexpensive mic and I do agree with doudei that maybe re-recording them will help when you can do that but the music is solid, maybe a little remix when you can do the vocals. Nice job, well put together!
great track, i dig it.
i totally sympathise with those lyrics.
whenever the topic religion comes up if i'm around there will be relentless but well-founded blasphemy. hundreds of gods are shaking their fist at me right now.
by the way, do you have a new microphone in the meanwhile? you should re-record those vocals sometime.
First, the instrumental is really good, great chord progressions, really nice flow.
The vox are simply a matter of confidence. I usually tell people that when they record vocals, they need to sing them like they would if they were all alone in their car. If you approach your vocal work like that, I think you will find your voice is actually really good. I too would love to hear this one with you doing another recording of the vox, and cutting out a few of the effects. Again, the instrument beds on this one are outstanding and I think you can match that level with your vocals with a bit of confidence. I look forward to hearing this one when you get it finished. I hope all is well.
Figured I would stop by and give a few of your tracks a listen. I liked the effects on the kick drum, sounds a bit like some delay was added. I thought the beat could have had a few more fills in it to make it a bit more interesting in places. It sounds like early pop/synth music from the 80's.
I had a hard time at points making out the vocals, maybe you could post the lyrics to help us hard of hearing people, ;) I love percussion so the bongos worked for me. OK song overall, felt a cool change somewhere in there would be helpful in breaking the song up a bit and adding a little interest. Hopes this helps!
Lol another first track lol and honestly cant remember the lyrics but i know there was a method to my madness with this one , but i have completely forgotten.Again thank you
On second listen now. The intro gives me the feeling of not knowing what to expect, and I like that in a track. FreeRadical asked if this was you singing, and you didn't say anything about it... if this is you, you are good at what you're doing! I definitely agree that the guitar could be up in the mix a little, though for the more pop-rock style like this it may be appropriate the way it is. Getting towards the end, and I hear that the guitar gets a bit louder near the end, so maybe you shouldn't adjust the level. I am really into stuff that builds subtly toward the end, so I get it. The sort of epic drum sounds are a nice touch too. Should be pretty cool when you bring it to completion. Good one!
Nice Rhodes like piano intro with some uplifting Chords, but very interesting beat. In My experience When people add that much echo and chorus to there vocals they are afraid of showcasing there voice. They are afraid of being noticed as being off-key. I think you have a good voice but need to practice this tune and re-record it without so much effects and we will be able to hear the true spirit of this tune. Also back the vox just a smidge down in the mix. This is a nice tune with potential, I would like to hear this with your strong confident voice in the mix in the future.
Peace Steve
Yes my voice is crap . I am not trying disguise my flaws but I don't want to crack windows either, I look for an opinion on bettering myself which you have given , See this is all i ask for is honesty so i can work on what i need to . Thank you for your review it is appreciated very much and i will be always grateful for such constructive criticism ..
Hahaha ToxicMetrix i didn't mean to set this one to featured lol . The lyrics are about keeping the faith in yourself and never giving up , that's why in the beginning he is living it up like a lion because it like the end of the story being introduced at the beginning ..
You know Danke i was thinking that the guitars are a bit low and now it has been confirmed and thank you for your advice , I will now work on that . Thank you for your kind review it is truly appreciated..
Ha! since my track is already at the top i can't be accused of bumping my own! So here it comes...................
GREAT TRACK!
No seriously, it's started off very well. Is that you singing? It's always nice when someone can sing in key and has an understanding of mic dynamics. Lyrically it's very good, the instruments blend well together and the mix is clean. So all in all great track sums it up in a nutshell.
So i'm just going to fill up the rest of the review with twaddle so i can still be typing when the track finishes. Did you see lizard lick towing last night? I'm kidding. This is a very professionally put together piece and was a pleasure to listen to.

Hahahahaha Freeradical I am in stitches here . No there are some whom do it , I definitly wasn't aiming at everyone but at a slight few . Thanks for this brilliant review it had me laughing out loud . I Haven't watched lizard lick is it worth watching . I am actually only catching up with breaking bad now thats how up to date i am lol . Again thank you :)
For it being in an unfinished state, it's a fairly solid track. One of the things I like about it is how almost whimsical and floaty the vibe is, but how dark the lyrics are. I've always like that kind of contrast. I'm curious to see how it turns out when it's finished.
Nice use of Midi, interesting albeit older analogue drum kit usage, but it works for this tune. I like the strings as well. I think my only critique would be a better defined bass line and more movable. But good work and nice expansive use of MIDI.
The concept is good, although a bit repetitive in its progress, but I like the harmonies used here. It's your voice?
Perhaps a demo, but already well accomplished for me .... I encourage you to persevere.
love the concept starting with piano, threes a real good track in here somewhere, would love to here the finished track, good use of beats and mix. loved it. Mickey
It's a cool track! Nice changes and the beats are solid! I would add some sweeping filter in some sections or something to add depth. Brillbilly's ideas are good too! Keep up the good work!
