Hey CC - Ive got some catch up listening to do after a few days away! Thanks for the listen and the warm feedback. The chains sound (along with the more typical guitar lead sound) is actually from my guitar!
Thanks mate - I think the original mix Id used a new FX that cluttered the sound on the poem, I thought Id lost the stems but found a couple of rendered parts so I was able to do some reworking
Hey BB - thanks for listening to this old one (with the bit of a rework on the spoken word) and for the warm comment. Sorry for the slow reply - This Easter was very full!
This is very cool! I understand what you mean by "what genre is it?" Even though is has that hip hop vibe to the beat the music also has an pop/alternative feel to it. Creative like Trent Reznor. The vocals are strong and well mixed. Very textural, fun to listen to and to hear what you did on the production side of things.
Hey Wayne - thanks mate - you know I love your stuff and very much value your contribution creatively and as a someone who is a careful listener and warm spirited community member. Look forward to hearing your latest - Ian
Hi Pseudo
Those basslines are great.
Later the sax is great and suprising.
A very special mix that turned out very well.
I love it how you always try to experiment and dont belong in the box of the regular beats
Thanks for listening and the warm feedback - yeah like you I like to experiment and try different things and use different tools ... all part of the learning and trying to avoid the stereotypical hey : )
Hope you are doing well - Looperman seems so dead nowdays and most people dont bother to even comment (I guess its post pandemic, we just dont have the same time. Strange this one's almost had more plays on my soundcloud but I think that has to be bots! ) Thanks for listening and the warm comment
I think you should preface all your compositions with "not exactly..." That's why I love them so much. Unique and interesting, as always. Your rythms are always so cool.
Oooh like the intro u got me at the 10 sec mark I like that part. Great synth work. I like how u did the instrumental first. Very cool sounds on the rap part. Vocals on point. Good work man u did good. Hip hop yes it is
not exactly hip-hop, then what is it bro. this is hip-hop Ian. you've just put a funky vibe to it, your spin. it sounds cool mate. grafezzy vocal is top notch more great original work keep being different and bake your brand
Hey thanks for checking this out and the warm feedback - good to know it's okay - never really sure when Ive just baked something! Wasnt expecting a fav - so chuffed about that : )
Hey Chris - thanks for your comments on the other ambient one too and again on this one. Those drums took forever on this one and it was interesting to get the transformation via reverbs of the guitar (recorded some jazz chords via mic out of the old ampeg amp) into a pad like sound. Im pleased a few folk seem to like this one as I wasnt sure it was going to make sense - Och aye (indeed) : )
lets just call it gentle Ian. its got a cinematic edge and an orchestral feel but so peaceful and pleasant to listen to. i do enjoy your experiments' mate

Kinda feeling a Volkoff vibe here. Cool to see what styles of hiphop people are coming up with these days. I wonder which DAW you used?
Keep at it

Sometimes it's worth going back into an idea and reworking it and using the mixing skills you've acquired in the meantime to get a better mix.
Good chit Ian!
