Enjoyed the percussion, it set an early feel as to where the track was to go. Neat soundscape you've created, the vocal snippets are a cool add. World music I would call this.
So, as many have stated, there is an awful lot going on in this track, but it is really nuanced so everything fits nicely and compliments all that is going on. The addition of the vocals was pretty brilliant. Loved the Santana-esque guitar in the background. Great job. Keep up the great work. I hope all is well.
Hey thanks for listening - it's weird that the vox's are always just about the last thing I add to the track but sometimes work pretty well - I think with this track it was my crazy rather random lead guitar playing that was the final addition. : )
To me this has an old time feel, smokey jazz club, late at night. The drums are updated and there is some nice stuff going on in the background to keep me listening closely. Love that muted horn sound!
Hey Wayne - thanks for listening mate - always love your stuff and that you keep working across the genres so looking forward to hearing your next one - cheers
really enjoyed my listen, nice ambient/lounge vibe very relaxing, for me the balance is also well done, and all elements harmonize great with each other, keep it up
hey Ian — happy belated bd! just love the rhythm bed and bass foundation of tune and how the melody stretches over the frame. i too am on the side of bringing the guitar back up somewhat, but besides that i love the lively mix. the trumpets are a really good counter with odarka’s contralto, and the slow strings somehow add a sense of closure to the tune that’s really pleasing. another great outing!!
Hey Mate - was just about to have a listen to a couple more from your back catalogue - great stuff - before I get on with my work for the day - Ill try to pick the best lead bits and bump the volume a bit at some stage
Thanks for the listen and warm feedback : )
It took me alot if listenings to understand your track, because there are so many motives in this songs and i liked that. I can feel the love for frequencies in your song. This is chaos a digesestion of a whole live. That scratched intro really got me. There is this streched woaaah low mid synth that always returning, this is what i hear in my head when i transfers in my mental retarted world. The trumpets presents for me the sadness of live in a honest way in this track, like an ongoing train with a certain force. A common passengers we all have to deal with. This songs is a closer look on our generation. We get pushed into a world were everything is done, now we have to keep moving with all these impressions in our head. Love from a honest banana
Thanks BL - glad you got my glitches - I'll take that one down now if you want me to send you the 7 or 8 individual treatment rather than the string just email me
Awesome work where so much is going on but you still managed to let it be so hypnotic ... all works well together even if I'd say the guitar is a bit too far in the back and my favourite of it all, that cello (at least I guess it is one) could be clearer. Anyway, another great track from you, Ian.
Hey thanks Micky - the guitar was pretty wild so trimmed it down a lot - maybe too much, and thats a violin but pitched an octave down so yeah it sounds like a cello - there's two tracks of that one treated (but not double tracked) though playing the same phrase but at different volumes. I'll try to tweak it again at some point - appreciate the warm feedback.
This track is all kinds of beautiful!...FAB! work here, particularly liking the trumpet in this track. The vocals add a celtic/folk kind of vibes and is very well incorporated. Awesome! work indeed & much enjoyed! Hope you had a great birthday, It is said that you are as old as you feel :) continue the great! work. Kudos!
Hello there -thanks you for listening and the warm feedback - And thanks for the birthday wishes too - I think the old joke is you are only as old as the woman you feel (said talking to a man ... and vica versa but that joke doesnt work so well today as the old stereotypes break down) : )
Happy birthday old man. ;-) and oh (BTW) you need a massive guitar solo on this one. Truth be told I am massively impressed with what you have been producing lately. so keep them coming mate. you are a damn good producer.
Thanks - I just tweaked it - tried an eq the vox and on trumpets also up slightly in volume and turned the guitar down 1.5 db ... not sure if its better :)
Hello Ian,
I think it is a pretty cool track mate.
However, I think Paul is right about the trumpet.
I would try to EQ the voice a bit to make it clear too.
Overall it is a great track it is worth the extra work, mate.
Well done
Maj
Thanks for the constructive feedback Maj - been really enjoying your track (and the recent ones are especially outstanding) - I hope to get some more useful feedback and then I'll try some tweaking as advised : )
Nice listen Ian love the off key beginning, before it levels into a jazzy relaxed number. The female vox are smokey, the instruments are sounding fine pretty level, but I think the trumpet needs to be louder, on my headset it's sounds too quiet, the guitar a tad down maybe but not much else to add enjoyed
Hey Paul - it was birthday yesterday (Im so old ... ahhh) I worked and then had a couple of beers and made this ... cant have visitors or (apart from work) do anything - due to covid!
I'll have a bit of a play with the mix over the next few days - thanks for the careful listen : )
Paz y salud.
Pretty interesting track, like the concept! So that's the author reciting it? The music is impactful, goes well with the topic. Sax was a cool addition.
"And an invisible chicken in every pot", ha, great line!
Hey Wayne - thanks for listening mate - yeah thats Charles Bukowski reading his poem of the same name (whilst getting drunk - he was somewhat infamous with the booze) - he is writing about the rain in the depression ... hence the line but yeah its a good one
That intro drum, very jazz very nice. awesome mix. I like the bass as well on here. very relaxing chill vibe with perfect sounds along the periphery of the panning. I had to fave this one and thanks for the download. really special treat this is.
The drum track jut meanders along, doing it's own little jazzy thing. I like the way the bass and keys work together. Interesting vocals/spoken word track.
If you go back into this, the one adjustment I would make is to add just a bit more reverb to the vox and lower the volume a bit to make them sit in the mix a little better, to me they stick out front a wee bit. I have issues with getting the volume right on my vocals all the time, it's hard.
Hi Ian listened to this earlier on SoundCloud whilst I was linking with an artist and singer from this weekend, i enjoyed it, listened here and enjoyed it again, them vox are great such a chilled relaxed vibe to this, well done, there's a bit of self promo there guys boost your followers follow people here, you don't have to use it cos you will have heard everything here anyway, everyone should follow everyone, makes you look more attractive to people just browsing looking for different, just a thought
Hey mate - thanks for the feedback - Im not sure who has a soundcloud but the idea of following each other sounds sensible (not that Im into 'promotion' ) Im more a FOBI that an FOMO person (ie fear of being included rather than fear of missing out) - the community here of course feels very supportive and inclusive rather than exclusive so that makes all the difference.
major disagreement w you re ‘boring’ — your sounds are anything but. your music always contains or is contained by the most super concepts, and realized with real presence. to me this track is perfectly consistent and works well to extend what you’ve accomplished.
i think best use i’ve heard thus far of steelyvibe, too. but i can’t help imagining what a few snatches of dialogue from the film would sound like!
Me gusta mucho. Que tengas un gran día. Paz y salud.
Gracias por la atenta escucha Sirefox y el cálido comentario. Me alegro de que te guste - definitivamente uno para los auriculares creo
Todo es bueno : )
