it is a lot detuned notes and it does grate subtly. I know exactly what you mean. but I suspect this is going to be the basic sound in this "genre" I am trying to develop which relates colors to specific tones. maybe I should put a disclaimer "madness likely" when i write these.
yes -this is not ambient music to go to sleep by - it is a disturbing, alien communication. it is music trying to be color. strange and foreign sounding. i have no idea what I am doing but i am going to try a few more of these and hopefully I won't lose too many friends along the way! thanks for your comment.
So the master is the fat furry one on 4 legs right? ;) Kinda feels a bit abstract mid eastern with the syntar sounding synth and the desert enviroment :D Fits the pic well :p Now feed me hooman right meow!!
This is surrealistic (we can say weird in music) as the painting...
Interesting tones you used, everything is quick as in a fast film or an old bacelit in 33'...
i don't know whether it is lack of time, or patience, or brain that keeps me from developing these further and better, brother - but I'm grateful you appreciate them for what they are! I'll fix the genre. thanks.
this sounds to me like some kind of a raw electronic piece. Did you played synths in a real time or it's just a kind of midi sequencing and layering the plugins happening? Just curious of your creative process on this one. Also I think that you may consider letting the reverb play itself out and allow the sound dissapear into space at the very end of your composition.
Other than this is some interesting one, reminding me of an analog synth work à la Spivkurl at parts even haha...
hey, alex. my stuff is always programmed 100%. I don't have any chops to speak of on keyboard or otherwise. I took your suggestion and gave the track a reverb tail but surprisingly it did not add much. surprised that you drew a comparison to spivkurl work! nice to hear from you always! Dan
Hey Dan, wonderful work here and it is perfect for the painting. A very evocative piece (and I love the story about Romulus and Remus, one of my favorites from my youth). Nice crisp mix on this one as well. Outstanding effort Dan. I hope all is well.
Cool track midisparks! I really enjoyed the atmosphere you created here. The baby's add kind of a creepy feeling to it. This one's a Fav and its downloaded. Nice work.
thanks, Dank.
glad if it took you there a little (wherever there is). always more to do with these. was listening to your sanssouci track today! cheers. Dan
hi cru - that's true about genre. changed it. stretched this one out a bit since you last heard it. so you know this myth apparently! very cool. thanks for stopping by. need you right now at the site. peace.
yes - that would probably be nice. i'm too lazy now to dig in with autotune - it is still a new effect for me. i did stretch this one out a bit since you last heard. thanks for stopping by. look forward to discovering more of your stuff. Dan
Ya... Know this is really good, this could be edited into a Vocal
song...
If one took the time, the melody is strong when the drums come
in then the track take off...
Nicely put together...
Very nice additional ideas Dan. I am liking what you did with the track. Im still working on various pieces to the original which we can take it further.
For your version here I dig it. Keep it going, Peace!
you are right my friend. we have been working on a second section separately. just thinking now about putting things together. stay tuned. thanks very much for stopping by. look forward to checking out your stuff. peace.
hey man - glad you liked the change-up. that's Stohgs! anyway - I set GSnap to D major (not a preset) for Oceanically singing actual words. For the alien sounding effect, I'm not sure what Dave (Stohgs) used. It was def Autotune and probably a preset but not sure which. catch you round the cyberhood. Dan
Great atmosphere build you got going here. I like how you can have multiple interpretations. The first listen gave me the impression that a lone princess was warning you about the shadowy vox later in the track (1:20 onward was a treat btw). The second was more of a "this is a legit warning, take it from me the rest of the kingdom is burned down to the ground and I'm her lone bodyguard" kind of feel.
yea. that is good the way you frame it. your narrative is cool. i wanted to use her voice in a more obvious way up front to set up Stohg's awesome effect on it. really happy if you were feeling this one a little. thanks. Dan
Such a perfect title to this gem of a track! From the few times you listened to my tracks and commented on them (as well as your own tracks), I can tell you have a natural talent for getting the full feel and atmosphere of a tune. Your titles match the atmosphere. And you are the king of comments when it comes to describing the essence of others' tracks. Thank you midisparks, for your uploads and accurately insightful comments! Enjoy!
holy cow! thank you skin. . .
when we dig in and finish a track for real we invest a piece of ourselves into it. when enthusiasm like yours comes back around, it is like getting a small piece of that piece back! peace! LOL!
Very intriguing music here! I love the analog feel to the music! As far as autotuned stuff goess, this is very enjoyable to hear. I agree about the contrapuntal nature of the composition, I like that in a tune. Stohgs has some excellent intuition when it comes to sound, and his contribution is important here, I can feel it. Everything feels too short today, even the 10 minute hardcore mix I just heard... would love to hear some new sections incorporated here. Fine quality stuff! Fave!
yea - this was actually my first trial with autotune (gsnap plugin). just getting her voice gravitating around b natural minor. Stoghs' effect was way more. glad you had a chance to check it out and always appreciate your comments brother. Dan
yea - we assume she is a little girl. but I think he/she might have a completely different appearance on her own planet. she probably came in that form so we would draw near and listen to the warning. thanks big time for the encouragement. I guess you know it is all about programmatic writing for me. and by the by - you are welcome to go over to the site and stake a claim for yourself. lots of art waiting. thanks again. Dan
I really like that raw, old school synthesizer sound from the beginning of your song. First part reminded me of an excercise in counterpoint a bit but I really liked that last vocoder section. nice work. alex
yea - been visiting all the old sounds lately. never really learned them so . . . hat's off to Stohgs for his treatment of the Oceanically pella. and yea - definitely an exercise in counterpoint! LOL. thanks Alex
Wow, this reminds me very much on "Grauzone-Die Sunrise Tapes" Cause you used, in a way same sounding things and bild deep music with them. And they did exelent work just like you did.
