I didn't know you could play the keyboard and some instruments.
I'm not familiar with this genre but what is it like a spoken word type with acoustics? Good effects on vocals. I don't know man cuz I don't know if I want to listen to you or I want to dance I got to choose it's kind of hard for me to focus I got to be honest to you

i can get a tune out of a keyboard im not great, my younger brother is a good pianist and guitarist he's played with some big stars like Alan Mair and Dave Stewart. i played drums for years but got rid of my pearl set awhile ago now, drum machines aren't great but they are quieter if you get my meaning.
and i appreciate every time you listen bro, some of my work is lets say hard to listen too, so i understand you got to be in the mood, keep sharing your opinions homie it helps more than you think

Thank you so much for your explanation and help.
This weekend I want to get my desktop ready for use again and I will try to get my midi right and see what nice things I can download from the links you sent me.
I mistook your email for advertising and didn't open it lol
Of course I don't mind if you email me.
I really appreciate that you think of me and want to help.
We are the fruitylopers and started almost at the same time .
And we have seen each other grow
with our blunders and insecurities..
Although you always had more courage than me, your perseverance has motivated me to show a little more courage.
Thanks Paul

thanks Rita if i can help i always will, and when it comes to us amateurs sharing especially free stuff is a big help most of us don't make money so not having to pay for stuff appeals, if i was making from music I'd buy the best i could, the free links are good enough, ive spent enough anyway, ive got a decent set up now to be fair. if you ever need help on something just ask, I'll always help as i would for anyone

The beat is also cool.
Nice that you playing a keyboard.
I have 1 but there is a delay when i touch the keys.
So i dont use it.
dimestop
dimestop replied 20th Sep 2023 - 2 years ago
ive got a couple of keyboards just never had them out for ages.
i sent you a private mail few days ago, might be in spam or old account just some pointers and some really good freebies with links. giving back, your a good friend and FL user :))
as for your issue i can suggest a cheap, and cheap being free and decent solution.
open FL open your sampler and add fruity keys or close grand from your instrument pack, drag and drop it on to your sampler. highlight the typing keyboard first one after song position button, right click it and choose minor natural + chords, then use your letter and number keys as your piano nice sound and no delay. you can use them to play any instrument, vst or plugin. and guess what FL is always recording you, even if your just messing and you come up with a little melody and can't remember what you pressed, press tools tab press dump to score log you can choose up to 30 mins, press it then open your piano rack and its all nicely placed in there for you, all the notes if you made a mistake you can change the midi too bingo your a pianist :))

Hi Paul.
This one is special
You're a really good songwriter.
You made me silent with your text.
It is the truth for many.
So beautiful how you say: I know you scared, I'm scared too.
Hats off to you again.

thanks Rita im really proud of this work, even if only one person that suffers with mental illness takes something from listening i will have achieved my goal. i was so scared, firstly accepting something was wrong then coming out and saying it. now look at me, i openly promote it. i know it starts with you first, then, and only then can you tackle how your going to make things change to suit you, take ownership of it then your in control

Now you really are trying to give the best of yourself and music always makes a bad day better! For kicks and for fun man you do it well bro but I'm not trying to make any money out of this or make it big I do it for me I'm sure you do it for you you know but we could always use advice and some criticism you know to improve some of us can't take it some of us can but I kind of feel like I like what you're saying though your lyrics are dope as hell but I feel like your voice doesn't fit the vibe that's the only thing I got to say about this track other than that 10 out of 10
dimestop
dimestop replied 3rd Aug 2023 - 2 years ago
bro thanks for checking it out, like you, i do it for me and yeah its fun but even though its fun i think its important to still give your best.
after all the advice ive been given, its not worth wasting so i improve to hopefully pass on, believe me bro im never gonna make a penny from this, i cant believe im doing vocals and im surprised im at this level, communicating with some real talent and getting away with it :))
your probably right about the vibe, my tone isnt a perfect fit but i liked the track and you know i like to sing about you lot, your my biggest listeners
and G always say what you feel, thats the whole point if you cant take critique your in the wrong place, i respect you homie, your a long standing friend and a great producer

I don't get around here as much as I used to. Life, ya know? It sometimes gets in the way of livin'.

I know what you mean about the community helping out. Back when I first started in 2012, it was like a gold mind of useful advice. I'd say about 90% of what I know now, (which still isn't much), I learned here through reading every comment on every song I checked out, and from constructive criticism on my own tracks, or in the forums...back when they were far more active.
It's definitely a good community. There has always been the occasional ass-clown that comes in and pipes up, but for the most part, everyone self regulates, and takes out the trash when needed.

dimestop replied 30th Jul 2023 - 2 years ago
haha this came in as i was listening to yours Aaron, them were the good days i believe, comments and listens were good, a closer community,
although its much quieter here these days we dont do bad in featured and yeah we self regulate, the shit is easily disposed.
sharing is king, not just music but the knowledge and like you my knowledge is limited but most learnt here

Dime, how ya doin' man?

I have to say, your effects on your vocals really have come a long ways. I remember at one time, they were always super-centered and muted. Now, they stand out more and much more dynamic. Good work, mister.

Take care, bud.

Hey paul, ur enthusiasm alone could take u far, man. But u have much improved skills to go with it. Im glad to call u my friend and one of my favorites to get opinions from on my work. I just told another friend on discord about the community here, im hoping he comes over, i kno youre a great person to learn from, man. Well done, as always. -Aaron

thanks Aaron, i have had lots of help from our community and always try to give back, im a fan of everyone that shares with us as you know, even if im not a fan of a particular style or genre, i will give you a listen and comment if i can add value or just my own opinion on how it made me feel.
i listen to music differently now i produce and sing, we all know good when we here it, irrelevant of genre, that's really for the anoraks. your ears are the best tool to gauge a track.
this community is good but could and should be better, there's some tremendous talent here, i don't consider myself to be one of them bytheway, ive got something to offer because of my enthusiasm, i will always encouraging. we need more though, more collabs, more comments, competitions, challenges, freshen the place up, admin give us a good platform but it needs improving, i might start a thread about fresh stimulus :))

dime, you are doing a great job. Everything is better from the processing to the mixes. I agree with Manuela and Rita as far as variation of the vocal track. In your style of music cadence is verry important. As a start on this particular track, You might want to try using a 16th note triplet scale in C Major against the Cmajor7 chord of this track and see what happens. Just a form of cadence practices. Remember one valuable lesson, your ears are your best processing tools. Don't get caught up in thinking there is a set of tools that you must have on every track. Nothing is etched in stone when it comes to processing. I have written songs with little to know processing and it happen to work out fine. YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY. Will help however I can. PEACE. T576 OUT.

hi T,
i will do some research into cadence practise'
although it doesn't come natural to me, i have an understanding of what your saying. my music theory is limited, i don't read music, but have researched minor 3rds, flat fifths, 7th, 8th notes, diminished chords, triads and triplets, chord progressions etc its still all Chinese to me tbf, but at least i know about these things now, i never even knew they existed till 3 months ago :)) with help from the likes of you and others in our community i will improve, comments like this are so important mate, helping me build knowledge, it makes me want to research more too, keep sending the gold nuggets bro

thanks so much Wayne, ive been doing far more on the production side.
had 3 vocal cuts on this in three different keys and i side chained my fx's in and routed everything through bus channels. you know the proper way, i now feel i understand what im doing and trying to achieve. less of me just winging it,
when i first started it was a couple of tracks, music on one, vocal on one, and fx on side slots, there was 22 layers on this :))
thanks again for your support as always mate

Stopping by for a second listen. The reverb and delay increase definitely improved the vocals for sure. It sounds much cleaner and blends in with the instrumental much better now. Great work, my friend!

Really nice track, Paul! Your vocals are unique and it went well with the instrumental. One note for the vocals, they feel a bit dry, I think a little increase to the reverbs would have helped a bit. You're definitely improving, that's for sure. The key is to never give up and keep being persistent and you're definitely doing that. Keep up the great work my friend, I will continue to keep an eye out for your singing tracks as I enjoy them :-)

dimestop replied 22nd Jul 2023 - 2 years ago
thanks for the encouraging comments bro, really appreciated. i like most are never happy and keep messing, i went back and increased the reverb on your advice, but i tweaked the delay too, that was the problem, i couldn't see it. i opened it slightly so the echo sits in the pocket now, i think its warmer, but is the delay now to much :))

Well my friend...you bring a smile on my face.
When im in your country i will come round your place lol.
We will drink and sing together..how about that lol.
Im agree with Manuela that you grow and grow with every new track.
The lyrics are always great, you are a great writer.
She is right about the tone of your voice.
some variation of the tone on the tone of the beat will be nice but i know how difficult it is if you don't have a naturally singing voice and are still practicing like us.
I wanna thank you for always being there!!
dimestop
dimestop replied 22nd Jul 2023 - 2 years ago
Rita your continued support is always encouraging, you are a great friend to have here, i sang 3 different cuts on this, one in C one in D and one in F, there's a little more variation to the first upload, that was all C, but getting from A to F, i might struggle :))
i want more variation in my vocal, tone charges but practise takes time, i can hear improvement, especially in the timing, and like you, i never dreamed of singing until about ten months ago, i was shit scared to be fair, but the engineering is what makes the difference. with reference to your reply about bus tracks, its worth investing some time into it to improve your production, you tube tutorials on creating bus tracks is a big help
you are one of my longest friends here on the loop, im always there for you, you are also one of my inspirations here too, remember 'shout out to the producers' boomboom Rita Bonzeonmars, keep dreaming big guys, raising stars,
i thought you were fire 3 years ago when i joined, now i just love you

Paul. Great job here, but this is your best vocal effort yet. Your lyrics are clear, clean, and upbeat with your signature bounce. I also like that creative touch of how you spreaded the intro backing track from hard left in the beginning to gradually bringing every thing to full center. Boss move Paul!. Reading your previous reply, you're having a great time experimenting with side chaining effects for the vocals. Now that's where the real fun begins. The effort paid off quite well. Keep doing what you do, the way you've been doing it. You sound MARVELOUS! Peace.

dimestop replied 21st Jul 2023 - 2 years ago
thanks Mark, i still have alot to learn about music production but feel im ticking along just fine. this was my first effort at side-chaining the fx in, i would normally just use the side slots on the mixer, but was finding i needed more :)) i use patcher which is a fantastic plugin that gives you much more expansion on one slot with lots of control and it gives you a good understanding of how to build the fx, but side-chaining them in from their own mixer track gives you far more control to make things much tighter being able to isolate everything individually and get the levels just right, not bad for a first effort, i intend to improve though now i have a clearer understanding
